Major Endorsement Coming For Curtis Bostic?

Sources close to the campaign of fiscally liberal former Charleston County councilman Curtis Bostic tell FITS a “game changing” endorsement is coming his way as he battles former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford for the GOP nomination in the state’s first congressional district.

Speculation immediately centered on the man Bostic and Sanford are seeking to follow into the U.S. House – newly appointed U.S. Sen. Tim Scott. However, sources close to Scott – who served with Bostic on Charleston County council – confirmed his intention to stay out of the race.

Hmmm …

Who could it be, then? One of our sources speculated the mystery endorser might be S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley – who is no friend of the man she followed in office (despite the rather large debt she owes him for her victory). Of course given Haley’s sub-par approval rating in the first district – 45 percent of voters disapprove of the job Haley is doing compared to 41 percent who approve – it’s hard to see her endorsement as “game changing.”

Bostic – who trailed Sanford by 13 percent in a recent survey of the district – received the endorsement of former “Republican” presidential candidate Rick Santorum earlier this week. He was also endorsed by “conservative” luminary Ann Coulter, who is also no fan of the former governor.

We’re no Sanford fans, either … but in light of Bostic’s abysmal fiscal record (and his sketchy associations) we can’t bring ourselves to support him.

Bostic and Sanford face each other on April 2, with the winner going up against Democrat Elizabeth Colbert-Busch.

UPDATE: Focus on the Family’s James Dobson has just endorsed Bostic’s campaign. Hmmmm … given the 76-year-old’s declining status and the fact Bostic already has the impressionable social conservative vote locked up, we’d be hard pressed to call that “game-changing.”

Hey Curtis. Hope you’re reading this blog. An endorsement from Trikki Nikki would be the kiss of death. Now I am no fan of human trafficing, but you at least need to know how the endorsement will affect your votes.

There are reports Bostic is being propped up with rumors of he being the TEA Party candidate. Palin!

No financial disclosure from Bostic…what gives? It is tax season, I am sure his information is readily available.

No doubt it’s Sarah Palin! I’m just wondering what republicans weighing in on this think of both Demint and Scott who didn’t bother to finish their terms. Also, as SC has such high teen pregnancy why we need more religious morals that impede sex education and contribute to so much teen pregnancy?

Maybe it’s Sanford…Nobody else (except maybe me) knows what a big mistake it would be to re-elect Sanford…

Or I could be Sanford’s kids…or maybe it’s Champour, or whatever his mistress’ name is…

I’d LOVE to see DeMint bring this thing home for the Conservative, and keep the moderate-libertarian Sanford in the private sector to count his daddy’s money, and what he stole from us…

Did Coulter actually endorse Bostic or was it more the case that she bashed Sanford and the Republicans’ inability to front credible and effective candidates? Don’t remember her giving Bostic an endorsement.

What’s with the scare quotes? Do you think that Rick Santorum isn’t a Republican or that Ann Coulter isn’t conservative? You might not agree with everything that they say, but gosh.

Sarah Palin would be the kiss of death. This little race is taking on national proportions. If the GOP losses this seat it will cause panic all the way to Wasilla and Washington. If the Dems can win here, they can win anywhere. They’re already locking up the Gov’s mansion in Columbia.

Bitter Scalia Leaves U.S.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Justice Antonin Scalia dropped a bombshell on the Supreme Court today, announcing his decision to resign from the Court “effective immediately” and leave the United States forever.

Calling this week “by far the worst week of my life,” Justice Scalia lashed out at his fellow-Justices and the nation, saying, “I don’t want to live in a sick, sick country that thinks the way this country apparently thinks.”

Justice Scalia said that he had considered fleeing to Canada, “but they not only have gay marriage but also national health care, which is almost as evil.”

He said the fact that nations around the world recognizing same-sex marriage are “falling like deviant dominoes” would not deter him from leaving the United States: “There are plenty of other countries that still feel the way I do. I’ll move to Iran if I have to.”

Throwing off his robe in a dramatic gesture, Justice Scalia reserved his harshest parting shot for his fellow-Justices, screaming, “Damn you! Damn each and every one of you to hell! You call yourself judges? That’s a good one. You’re nothing but animals!”

Breathing heavily after his tirade, he turned to Justice Clarence Thomas and said, “Except you, Clarence. Are you coming with me?”

Justice Thomas said nothing in reply.

Count me as a Republican who just can’t get behind either one of these clowns. Mark for the obvious, and Curtis, geez, dude, lighten up with the Christian Conservative crapola. Your son tweeting about you (while bragging about his career as a fashion model and actor) is bad enough, but the home schooling as a virtue? Hows about making our public schools better?

Holding my nose and going to vote for Colbert Busch on May 7th.
