Chip Limehouse Has An Opponent

To his credit, Charleston, S.C. real estate broker Russell Guerard apparently made it clear he was running against S.C. Rep. Chip Limehouse (RINO-Charleston) long before the rotund “Republican in Name Only” belly flopped in last week’s South Carolina first congressional district primary.

Guerard has been “softly campaigning” against Limehouse for several months, sources tell FITS – meaning he’s not just some opportunist eager to capitalize on Limehouse’s recently exposed vulnerability.

Also to his credit, Guerard didn’t do the typical political thing and beat around the bush when we reached out to him seeking confirmation of rumors about his prospective candidacy.

“I am running for House seat 110 as a Republican,” Guerard confirmed to FITS via email last week.

There you go …

And while we know next-to-nothing about Guerard (other than the adorable family picture he provided us), we know plenty about Limehouse. None of it good.

A top lieutenant of fiscally liberal S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell, Limehouse has been initiating and covering up corruption in state government for years. In fact during his spectacularly failed bid for the U.S. Congress he granted one of the most fiscally liberal members of the S.C. House of Representatives (B.R. Skelton) his proxy.

Yet despite all of this Limehouse receives the unquestioned backing of the local “Republican” party – led by Harrell loyalist Lin Bennett.

Despite dropping $500,000 on his congressional candidacy (more than anyone else in the race), Limehouse finished a disappointing seventh place in the first district primary.

He didn’t even win his own S.C. House district …

Limehouse is the embodiment (the very, very large embodiment) of everything that’s wrong with South Carolina … shady back room deals cut by corrupt political elites aimed at padding the pockets of narrow special interests. At our expense, naturally.

Would Guerard be any better? We’re not sure … he describes himself as “a concerned citizen with some integrity who’s willing to but his ass on the line to help make this place better for everyone,” but we’ll be judging his candidacy like we judge all candidacies – based on specific policy proposal offered and endorsed.

One thing is clear, though … Guerard is not Chip Limehouse. Which means he starts “+1” in our book …

Russell is the real deal. He owes no one, is independent , and isn’t using this as a stepping stone to higher office .

I am an enthusiastic Guerard supporter even though I am a life-long unreconstructed New Deal Democrat. He is a gentleman of unassailable integrity, a buisnessman of repute in more than name only and he is in the race because of something he wants to DO rather than for reasons of what he wants to BE.

Limehouse is a RINO-NAZI.

Hitler and the Nazis used the same game plan on every country.
1) take the guns away – from one group at a time (Limehouse legislation)
2) take the civil rights away – from one group at a time (Limehouse legislation)
3) destroy the economy with counterfeiting (scams with criminal legislators and Nazis)

Word of mouth almost destroyed the Chrysler Corporation …. Word of mouth is destroying Harrell and Limehouse. The more South Carolinians that hear what these two tyrants are really all about, the more that turn against them.
Keep up the good work, Sic!!

Any relation to Teddy Guerard? (Mr. Guerard died 15 years ago at age 80 but was a hell of a nice guy. Lived downtown, attended St. Philips Church where he was a vestryman.) That would be a nice connection. The Guerard family, incidentally, is French (Huguenot – Protestant) and came to South Carolina very early on (late 1600s, early 1700s) as a consequence of religious persecution.
I believe the Limehouse family came to South Carolina from England on “hog boats” on condition they stop stealing from other farmers and emigrate to America.

His kids look hilarious. Next to Limehouse, Guerard would look like a waif.
