Republicans in Congress are finally taking their first tentative steps toward resisting the neo-fascist onslaught of the administration of Barack Obama.

Leading the way? U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), who this week filibustered Obama’s nomination of John Brennan as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Paul’s beef? A memo from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder seeking to justify the right of the federal government to target drone strikes against Americans on American soil.

“That Americans could be killed in a café in San Francisco or in a restaurant in Houston or at their home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is an abomination,” Paul said. “It is something that should not and cannot be tolerated in our country. I don’t rise to oppose John Brennan’s nomination simply for the person. I rise today for the principle.”

Supporting Paul? U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon.

U.S. drone strikes have killed an estimated 4,700 people worldwide … not all of them bad . At least that’s according to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (RINO-S.C.), the first elected official to attach a body count to the controversial program.

“Sometimes you hit innocent people, and I hate that,” Graham said. “But we’re at war, and we’ve taken out some very senior members of Al-Qaeda.”

Paul – who at one point read from Alice in Wonderland during his filibuster – beat back an effort by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to sit him down so the chamber could vote on Brennan’s nomination.

The first-term Senator – one of the few genuine free market conservatives in Washington, D.C. – has vowed to hold up Brennan’s nomination “until I can no longer speak.”

UPDATE: Paul ended his filibuster at 12:40 a.m. – 12 hours and 52 minutes after he began.

Thirteen hours? You call that a filibuster? Ol Rand needs to get him an underage black girlfriend to help build his stamina.

Carrie Butler was 16 when she and Ol’Strom were improving his stamina by creating Essie Mae The legal age of consent in SC is 16.

Sperm Thurmond March 7, 2013 at 10:11 am

Actually, Carrie was 16 when the child was BORN. According to Essie, Uncle Strom came a courting when Carrie was 15.

Back then the age of consent in SC was 14….but you also have to remember that back then interracial intercourse was illegal.

and that strom was the child’s boss at the time.

No, only interracial marriage. Otherwise half the plantation owners would have been in jail.

Bubbas Brother March 7, 2013 at 1:43 pm

Most reports on the story say Carrie Butler was 16, Essie is the only one who has reported her age at 15 but I’ll grant the point (though Constantine is correct that at the time the age was 14)

Ol’Strom was not “the child’s” “boss”, she worked for his mama in the family home.

Liberals have a HARD time accepting the fact that Strom had that girl begging for it…She was hooked on the brotha…
It’s funny:women as still considered the plunder of a society…
…and liberals are VERY uncomfortable w/ White Men doing black Women, but they engaGE IN A FORM OF SEXUAL worship OF black men abusing white Women (see OJ)….
They see it as the spoils of the war they have waged on America…it’s reveng-based and VERY sick…and Obama is a product of it…

Earlier this week willie announced that the public,us, ain’t welcome to just walk into public buildings and look around

Earlier this week TSA announced they would allow knives on planes which will probably give them what they wanted all along, more opportunities to shove their fingers up taxpayers’ naked asses and pussies

Earlier this week POTUS announced it ain’t the Peoples’ White House, it is His Damn House and unless you cough up $100,000, stay the fuck in your own home

Back to the drones.

Given all these earlier events drones may not be around the corner but they are sitting a hanger just waiting on a finger nail file to get on a plane to justify the release of a drone to blow the plane and all the passengers to hell and back.

C’mon, OWB; you know that the sequester is the reason White House tours have been cut back, dontcha? Get rid of the sequester and even you can tour the White House — assuming you are not on the drone list.

Rand loves publicity and stunts. He wants the camera on him and himself alone. Seems to me the Prez has a 2nd amendment right to use drones or guns on people in the US. Look at that murderous cop in California a couple of weeks ago. I would have droned his bunker out of existence. Terrorists and criminals and mentally ill homicidal maniacs deserve a drone strike. Beware of people like Rand who defend liberty. They will take yours away in a heartbeat. Rand is a drama queen looking our for # 1.

Rand’s method was genius, of course he wants the camera on him. He is drawing attention to a specific cause. (and increasing his public image for 2016) The government should not be able to execute US citizens without due process PERIOD. It Has nothing to do with the second amendment I am skeptical of Rand, but I respect him for this move. Did you even listen to or read any of what he said? Or are you just commenting to put your uninformed opinion out there?……cause we really need more of that…

this assures that just like strom thurmond, randy will be elected president. or possibly more likely, that his opponents 4 years from now have hours of tape of this idiot making asinine comment after paranoid rant with which to entertain voters of the KY state.
