Mark Sanford’s “Bandwagon” Ad

The bandwagon technique is one of the advertising industry’s most trusted methods of persuasion. Unfamiliar with the term? Basically it boils down to this …

Everybody’s doing it, so should you!

That’s the basic theme of former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s latest ad – in which roughly a dozen voters discuss why they believe Sanford is the best choice to represent the Palmetto State’s first congressional district.

“He said no to the big spenders in Columbia,” one voter says.

“He said no to the Obama stimulus money,” another adds.

Take a look …

(Click to play)

Okay … we’ve got token black guy, token old lady, someone sort of resembling a Latino …

Hold up … why is there no Asian in this ad! Seriously … where the f*ck is the Asian in this television advertisement!

(And for that matter, where’s the Argentine!?!?!)

Kidding, kidding …

Sanford’s spot is decent, but it’s probably not going to make the same splash as the “career politician” ad one of his rivals is running against him. Haven’t seen that spot yet? Stand by …

Sanford is the frontrunner for the first congressional seat vacated earlier this year by newly appointed U.S. Sen. Tim Scott. Prior to his two largely unsuccessful terms as governor, Sanford represented the first district from 1995-2001.

As my mother used to say, “if somebody jumped off a cliff, would you?” The whole bandwagon concept is lost on me.

Hey, Mark – when Chapur appears at one of your bbq parties, that’s when I’ll show up! I prefer Maurice’s mustard-based bbq.

If Mark would enlighten us in regard to the China trip, he would really get people talking. He would be a shoe in.

He needs to keep on top of his gray roots and apply his JUST FOR MEN a little more artfully. Sometimes he looks like the original Purdue chicken guy and sometime he looks like his son.

Really obnoxious ad. I especially disliked the white guy with his hair parted on the left. With all the wrinkles. They didn’t address the “character problem” — that the guy is an infamous liar.

What would make that ad more powerful would be if both Maria Belen Chapur and Jenny Sanford showed up in it. Now of course, they might have differing perspectives and accolades to bestow regarding the candidate,,,but it would be well viewed.

Sanford has a messy mind. Get him talking for a few minutes….or even try to follow one of his prepared speeches, you’ll notice what a total mess his mind is.
DO NOT PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF ANYTHING.

Democrats love him as a cheater (which is his shot): But Sanford is running a fiscally responsible ad…and the left hate any kind of responsibility…

I’m not a camopaign guru: but even I know you cannot split your base like that…
