The average price for an unleaded gallon of gasoline in South Carolina is $3.37 this month – up seventeen cents from last month. That figure is well below the national average of $3.61 – which climbed thirty-one cents per gallon from January.
Per usual, those figures are courtesy of the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge report.
After moving toward the middle of the national pack on fuel prices last month, the Palmetto State has regained its competitive edge. South Carolina’s gas is currently the sixth-cheapest in the nation – although as we’ve pointed out on numerous occasions our dirt poor population pays a disproportionate share of its income on fuel costs (second only to Mississippi).
That’s why our website has repeatedly and emphatically rejected calls for an increase in the state’s gas tax.

Greenville continues to be the best, IMO. Also, if you shop for groceries at BiLo, you will get 5 cents off for every gallon you spend at gas stations like Spinx if you buy, I think, $50 of groceries. We have a debit price and a credit price in this area, with Debit being lower, so that shopping at BiLo will lower a debit price. Also if you buy a $100 gas card at Ingles, I believe you get 3 cents off a gallon at those Ingles stores that sell gas. Once you go to North Carolina, you pay through the teeth so fill up before driving to the Old North State.
I have also seen pretty low prices at the Prosperity exit and the one further up near Newberry.
I read recently where the US is now pumping about 950,000 gallons of crude lately, up from 125,000 in 2005. We are getting more energy independent, and I am all for pumping more oil domestically, along with finding other sources of energy. I don’t think we can afford to leave anything out of the equation.
Buy a new car. The gas savings will amaze you. I did.

Wait, where’s the cutie that’s usually filling the tank?
We’re conditioned to $3.50 gas now. It probably won’t be long before we get another ratcheting exercise to get us accustomed to $4.00 gas, on and on it goes.

Just got back from seeing family in Europe where the price of gas ranges from the equilvant of $6-$10/gallon depending on what country your are in. I would be remiss if I didn’t point our that far more people use either mass transit over there or ride a bike (that also partialy explains why they don’t have the fat ass problem we do). Their cars are smaller and more fuel efficient and for those that use fuel oil to heat their home are smaller; the average house in Europe is around 1200 sq ft.
My brother summed it up best when he said that Americans have become like spoiled little rich Kardashiams, having to have the latest bling, biggest house, largest TV and the coolest ride while at the same time whining about the price they paid for petrol or electric. They (Americans) don’t care about their enviromental footprint and won’t until the get a swift kick from the rest of the world.
Thanks Hitler..for letting us know that you HATE free will and a free people…You are a perfect example of an Obama Disciple…
Hitler? Really Dumbass? Maybe if you rode a bike once in a while you might increase the bloodflow to your brain.

I spent 90 minutes driving from Rock Hill to Spartanburg last night on Highway 49, and I was lucky not to have a flat after hitting several potholes. And I-77 from the time you get on it in Columbia until Winnsboro had huge chunks of concrete missing.
Of course we need an increase in the gas tax or some other mechanism for road repair. We are 20 years behind schedule at minimum. This no new taxes bullshit has as much creditability as that silly ass taxpayer rebate fund. Or some book about our floozy of a governor and her numerous affairs.

Obama just gets WORSE in his management of the economy. And the energy policy is a disaster under Obama…
Want to give some details?
Blah, blah, blah…
I’ll tell you something, my house is worth $20,000 more than it was five years ago. Suck it!

Today gas is 3.47 ,diesal is 3.99,going up everyday ! What happen to what the media said, that it was going to be cheaper in 2013 than last year? I think they made the oil cos. mad when they read that! Plain and simple facts this is price gouging! Shut down some more refinerys or use some of the other 100 excuses that they have used, or pass some more money to our politicians ,and we are going to let them lease more land and drill more so they can ship it overseas and still rip us off! The oil cos. are making record profits while they are driving our economy in the ground ,and laughing all the way to the bank! And whats so sad we do not have any politicians anymore with enough backbone to stand up to them, in neither party! The Oil cos. have more pull than our own goverment does . And the tax and D.O.T. is a whole different story!
