S.C. Sen. Larry Grooms will receive the support of a Columbia, S.C.-based political action committee as he seeks the GOP nod in South Carolina’s first congressional district.
Grooms’ bid will be aided by the “Palmetto Conservatives Fund,” an entity which filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) earlier this week.
The new group is led by Dave Wilson, a Columbia-based political operative in the stable of veteran GOP strategist Bob McAlister.
Obviously “Palmetto Conservatives Fund” won’t be the only third party organization involved in the first district primary election – scheduled for March 19. Former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford and Charleston businessman Teddy Turner are also reportedly in line to receive support from political action committees.

Politicians are generally the worst sort of people.
They mostly seek (and then protect) power in order to tell others what to do, or merely profit from their authority to redistribute others’ money.
Anyone who has spent time with Larry knows he is a hell of a nice guy. He is the type of guy you want to have a beer with or see drive up when you’ve got a flat in a bad part of town. Sadly, that may be the problem: nice guys don’t usually win Congressional Seats.
Larry is downright stupid. Stupid like Forrest Gump.
Larry cries real good when he speaks. You want to cry when you hear him.
