Remember Charlie Rangel?
He’s the New York liberal who should have been thrown in jail two years ago for a flood of ethics violations (including failing to pay his taxes and using public resources to solicit campaign donations). Of course absolutely nothing happened to Rangel – which is why he’s still in Washington, D.C. voting to flush our tax dollars down the toilet.
Oh … and declaring war on the Southern culture as part of U.S. President Barack Obama’s “Great Gun Grab of 2013.”
Take a look …
(Click to play)
“New York is a little different and more progressive in a lot of areas than some other states and some of the southern areas have cultures that we have to overcome,” Rangel said.
Wait … “cultures that we have to overcome?” Oh right … we forgot. He’s referring to what U.S. President Barack Obama referred to in 2008 as the “bitter people” who “cling to guns and religion” because they are all hopelessly racist.
Sheesh … is anybody else as tired of this shit as we are?

Rangel, Coumo, Schumer, Sharpton, Bloomberg, and the shit list goes on and on. Now there is one fucked-up state.
Spitzer, Weiner,…
Don’t forget their third senator, Lindsey Graham.
JOE WILSON FITS IN NICELY WITH THESE SCUMBAGS.
Lots of d-bags across this nation, but this one takes the cake…and eats it.
I can’t make the observations this story deserves. What a scumbag.
The South has increasing become the whipping post of a failing nation. It saddens me to no end.
Very frankly, it’s the ignorance and cultural bias of New Englanders and some mid-Westerners IMHO that has bred some of this…obviously stemming all the way back to the vilefication of the South via Civil War propaganda(and no, I’m not defending slavery…which was practiced both in the North and South).
Having spent time in both New England and the mid-west I can vouch for this mentality…which I ashamedly subscribed to as an idiot, know nothing youngster.
At least I grew out of it.(intellectually) I’m sure moving to the South helped too.
Of course, the media centers being in NYC don’t help matters….even Colbert has fallen victim to it.
Then you have the “Southern Poverty Law Center” type organizations, they do their fair bit of propaganda as well, couched as “educated” or enlightened expose….when in reality just it’s another form of such propaganda.
The South has its problems….but it’s not the tap water producing more stupid rednecks…it’s much more complex than that.
It all smacks of the Jesus’s statement about paying attention to the splinter in someone else’s eye and ignoring the log in your own…or something like that.
good post
This comment, with its errors of syntax, spelling and punctuation, coupled with a mangled quotation from “the Jesus….or something like that”, confirms what we have known for centuries up here in New England. That is, your dysfunctional, frat boy politics and racialist fantasies, your corrupt and venal ersatz conservatism, your crippled, politicized public schools–these all depend on the cynical manipulation of citizen-stooges like this one.
Before you worry about old Charlie Rangel, take a gander at this ridiculous quorum: Ravenal, Sanford, Arp, Viers, Eckstrom, DeMint, Jackie Knotts, and your current self-serving narcissist of a governor, Nikki Haley. South Carolina’s political buffoons are a staple of late-night comedy, as well as a constant source of irritating bemusement to we New Englanders–who still remember what Preston Brooks did to Charles Sumner. Our nation will fail because of failed states; yours is one of them.
Perhaps the rebelliousness of will, a strong minded sense of liberty, has been inbred to the the backwoods folks of the south. Or perhaps we people of low intelligence have a sense of ethnocentricism and can see throw the multicultural bullshit being spoon fed to us as being against our cultural interests. Either way, the more the ivory tower poverty pimps like this gorilla here continue to spew hate and trample our rights the more I feel there will continue to be a growing resistance to the government that has hijacked it’s authority without the principal sovereign citizens consent.
Ah, Rangel, the embodiment of the fact that any crook can get into D.C. and stay as long as they want given a sufficient level of corruptness.
If he can overcome southern cultures as well as he can overcome ethics charges, well say bye-bye to sweet tea and fried okra!
Why don’t we send him Jakie Knotts so he can hone his culture changing skills.
And throw Jean Toal on the bus with Jakie. Her lastest stuff is unbelievable. John Monk has it and will not report it. With Kittredge combing out her hair, Beatty shining her shoes. Pleiconas fixing her drinks and dinner and Hearn pressing her clothes.
Last time I checked none of these mass shootings happened in the south. What’s up with that?
Virginia Tech? Blacksburg makes Clemson seem urban.
The elementary school in Greenwood, SC. Seven children and two teachers shot, two girls died.
And the infamous University of Texas tower snipings, by Charles Whitman.
Looks like another “Fox News/Rush “Limpballs”/parrot-talking conservative entertainment talk radio/Drudge Report mindless drone got his/her ass kicked by “Libertarian” and “Soft Sigh”!!!
Way to go ya’ll!!!
So it’s okay for FITS to refer to certain South Carolinians or areas of the state as “mouth breathers”, “bottom feeders,” rednecks”, (his descriptions of Anderson County among others come to mind) or to refer to the state as “ass bacward”, “ignorant” or worse, but for Rangel to attack Southern culture draws his criticism? This is hypocrisy of the highest rank. And the answer to your last question is a resounding “Yes.”.
It’s not hypocrisy, it’s the way we are. Southerner’s, more than most people, have a bond, some say it’s the land, God know what it is, but there is something that hold us together We can, and do fight like cats and dogs, but let some yankee say something, and we will for the moment, put our differences aside and stand together. How in the hell do you think that whole War Between the States thing happened? And if you don’t like it…..go back whereever the hell you came from.
Hypocrisy is saying one thing and doing another, Maybe you didn’t know the meaning . This article exemplifies it. Furthermore, The War Between the States was caused by more than “a Yankee saying something.”. THe main cause was that the South wanted to keep human beings in slavery and felt that a Union dominated by the North threatened that institution. Read the Articles of Secession. And don’t give me this malarkey about “going back where you came from.”. My family on both sides have been in SC since the 1750’s. With a name like “jimbob,” I doubt if you can trace yours back more than a generation on one side.
While slavery was very much a reason for secession. The cause of the WAR was all about power and economics — namely, the Union wanted to preserve the status quo and its economic model at the South’s expense. Slavery was an afterthought to the actual casus belli.
@Bonhoeffer: Surely a smart fellow like you knows that New Jersey had slaveholders as recently as 1856, a mere four years before the Civil War started. Surely you also know that the Yankees wanted blacks freed so that they could instead be enslaved in Yankee factories. Why is it that you Union sympathizers constantly tell this story so as to imply that there were NEVER slaves in the North? Why the intellectual dishonesty, Bonhoeffer, if you’re such an upstanding guy? Also, since the Union’s cause was so bloody noble, please explain William Tecumseh Sherman to me? I mean, all that raping and pillaging and burning to the ground and thieving. What’s up with that, Bone Humper?
Before we get to far with the “wasn’t about slavery” tripe, behold what Alexander Stephens (VP of the Confederacy) said:
“The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institutions—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson, in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the “rock upon which the old Union would split.” He was right. What was conjecture with him, is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands, may be doubted. The prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old Constitution were, that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with; but the general opinion of the men of that day was, that, somehow or other, in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away… Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the idea of a Government built upon it—when the “storm came and the wind blew, it fell.
Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and moral condition.”
Johnny Rebel, Well, silly me, I guess that I “surely” didn’t know all this. Could you cite me a few books or documents where you discovered these astounding facts? You obviously get all your information from the historical equivalent of Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, or the “National Enquirer.”
After seeing “Lincoln” and the part about the “James River Meeting” between Lincoln and Southern delegates including CSA VP Stevens on “The River Queen (I had forgotten about that fascinating meeting), I researched some on the meeting.
Some posters are absolutely correct in pointing out how strongly CSA VP Stevens and others were about maintaining the slavery status quo.
I never realized the depth of their beliefs until I read The Confederate delegations report to CSA Congress upon their return from their meeting with Lincoln.
There is no question that they wanted to keep the slaves in their place. It appears they were just as sadly entrenched in their beliefs as were the Nazis in exterminating the Jews right up until the end of WWII. While Germany was falling apart right before their eyes, the gas chambers and crematories were going full speed damn near till the very end..
How terribly shameful and sad. Both in 1865 and 80 years later we see man’s inhumanity to man carried to the extreme on both occasions.
And still some seem to keep going over and over and over about the Civil War
This shit was settled in Appomattox people!!!
And some like to joke that West Virginia is backwards……
At least my home state had the guts to call BS on Virginia and the rest of the CSA and tell them to kiss off
I’m an AMERICAN first
A “hillbilly” second (Our family still owns “the old home place” – thank God)
A “Carolinian” third (I own property in both Carolinas)
A legal resident (at present) in South Carolina forth.
Southern culture – by way of our foods and cooking – has exploded across the country in the last decade. If you aren’t Southern, you want a piece of it, either by vacationing here, moving here, or retiring here. The Southern spirit gets in your bones, and all you want is more of it because (most of) the people are generous, kind and damn good cooks. Rangel may be disinterested in our values and our politics but I doubt he’s going to be too keen on you taking that fried green tomato, bacon and pimento cheese buttermilk biscuit out of his hands any time soon.
Perhaps Rangel should help his extended family build mud huts.
By the by, George Obama (Prez’s half bro) needs a new roof on his hut.
This @$$-Backwards doofus, Rangel, is just echoing the same Tripe FITS spews regularly…
Can’t have it both ways FITS…you either side w/ Rangel and Obama in Hating SC…or you judge the state fairly, defining it w/ the good and the bad…
You’re as Stupid as this guy so far…Don’t try to jump sides now when you see a mirror image that represents the grotesque characature of what you (and your minions) are…
Dear Charlie,
The US military is one of those peculiarly Southern institutions, you dolt. We’re leaving, and you and all your gay friends are not going to stop us. You don’t have the conejos, Charlie. We know it, and deep down, so do you. Keep talking, Moron. We’re gone and taking everything good that is still American with us.
Cheers,
Johnny Rebel
Where you going to go Johnny Reb?
Those southern expat. colonies in South America after the Civil War REALLY flourished didn’t they??
Or do you know anything about that little “social experiment”
It is extremely fascinating in a social studies kind of way but the “southern culture’ as some of you like to swoon over only exists in this region. It “didn’t take” in the expat. colonies.
The cultural south is no different that southern countries in Germany,Italy,France. All these countries speak a “southern” dialect in their own particular language (example Germans speaking “high German” dialect look down on German spoken in the Swabian region like my beloved Rottweil. The “southern” customs (and regional food) in those countries go hand in hand with the dialects just like in this country. No real biggie and no different in other cultures where regionalism has an influence.
So don’t get too high and mighty about “its a southern thing”
Oh, about “fried green tomatoes” and corn bread:
Nobody here in South Carolina even knew what the things were till that chick-flick come out. Probably the rest of the “south” for that matter………..
We were eating fried green tomatoes in West by God Virginia since I was a kid and that was over 50 years ago!!
Cornbread?? That sweet yellow shit??? It’s nothing but cake!
REAL cornbread is white with ABSOLUTELY NO SUGAR and baked in a fucking skillet not a pan!!!

“you don’t have the rabbits?” I think you meant “cojones…”
My my what a clever retort. Did by chance I stike a nerve? I can assure you I know the meaning of the hypocrisy. Do you know the meaning of the word scalawag? I’m glad your fanily has been here since the 1750’s I know they must be proud of you. My family has only been here since 1761 so I guess that makes us new comers. But then again, my people came willingly, so I think that makes us even.
And as for the name thing, I have know some Jim Bob’s over the years, but you are the the first Bonhoeffer I’ve ever run across.
There is nothing more sad than a southerner who is not proud of where he’s from. No doubt you are a lonely and bitter man, now go play with some of your own kind and leave us alone.
This race baiter CRIMINAL is a scumbag is all – Enough Said
Charles you are a filthy pos. Please take your race hustling ass back to the rat hole you crawled out of.
You think because you are a filthy NY puke that you will tell us what to do.
You wont Charlie.
Go back to the pimp life enriching yourself at public expense you filthy nubian animal.
PS. Please come and take my guns. You will most definitely get them and my southern culture you pos.
New Yorkers are all puke punk bitches who can lick my sack.
I wouldn’t let them get that close to me.
Willie, you can get the readership foamin’ at the mouth without making up stuff. Rangel was obviously talking about overcoming southern gun culture.
Rangel isn’t in Adam Clayton Powell’s old district is he? I was told by elders that ol’ Adam sent the Dixiecrat/American-Party types to frothing. I wonder if the tradition lives on.
