Nebraska Still Doesn’t Get It

CORNHUSKERS HAVE AN INFLATED SENSE OF SELF

A year ago, Nebraska got blown out in the second half of the 2012 Capital One Bowl to the University of South Carolina.  The Cornhuskers lost the game 30-13, and were out-gained 351-253 yards.

Still, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini insisted his 9-4 Cornhuskers were better than Steve Spurrier’s 11-2 Gamecocks.

“I’ll say it straight out – our football team, even after the game, we felt we were a better football team than (South Carolina),” Pelini said.

Fast forward to the 2013 Capital One Bowl, which once again saw Nebraska get blown out in the second half – this time by the University of Georgia.  The Cornhuskers lost the game 45-31 – and were out-gained by the Bulldogs 549-443 yards.

Well guess what … the 10-4 Cornhuskers believe they’re better than the 12-2 Bulldogs, too.

“I think the Big Ten, talent-wise, is a lot better, and the defenses are better than SEC defenses,” Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez after a second straight bowl loss to an SEC powerhouse. “This was supposed to be one of the top defenses in the SEC, and we pretty much did anything we wanted against them.”

Obviously Martinez isn’t referring to the final five drives of the game … which saw Nebraska go “fumble, punt, punt, interception, turnover on downs.”

Last time we checked that didn’t constitute doing “anything (they) wanted.”

Also last time we checked Georgia’s defense was ranked fifth in the SEC.

We understand Nebraska wants to elevate its program (and its conference), but that’s something done on the field – not in the post-game interview room.  The sooner the Cornhuskers recognize that, the better off they’ll be.  Bo Pelini is a great coach and Martinez is a great quarterback, but these ridiculous comments make them look like sore losers.

In fact come to think of it they are sore losers.

The 2012-13 bowl season hasn’t been quite the Southeastern Conference beat down many expected it to be (hello, Lousiville?), but for the second year in a row Nebraska got its ass kicked by an SEC team – whether the Cornhuskers are willing to admit it or not.

Also they better be careful about trash talking SEC defenses … lest they incur the wrath of Jadeveon Clowney.

Too bad none of those “great defenses” in the Big 10 belong to Nebraska. This is a team that gave up 63 to Ohio State and 70 to Wisconsin.

Try some Listerine, Martinez. It’s good at getting that sour grapes taste out of your mouth.

Well if they have superior players, then I guess it’s the coaching.

Can Martinez explain why the Big 10 went 1-2 vs the SEC on New Year’s Day?

They also have a plethora of some mighty fine blue eyed blonds…

having been converted by said blue eyed blond to the Nebraska Nation in the 80s I dare say Bo Pelini and “great” are not being used in same sentance by the Cornhusker faithful.

Osborne spoiled us, well, that and his stable of 3 deep, 6’5″, 310# pulling guards….
that could run…
and relished the sight of a safety trying to tackle a real quarterback like Tommy Frazier.

You for got to include that you are on probation, again.

Semi, you still waiting for that Whitney Apocalypse? Seriously, can a tater really make a crack about probation, ever? And speaking of a joke – can you imagine if an SEC Champion lost to a Big East team 70-33? Too easy.

And fits forgot to include Martinez’s comments to the same effect about SC. Apparently they ain’t too good at counting in Nebraska.

So what you’re saying is if USC dropped football, USC fans would be fine because there’s still baseball, women’s basketball, and swimming & diving. What are attendance numbers for those sports outside if baseball? I remember when baseball couldn’t get 1000 people to show up to home games.

Mph-your assumption that I am a tater is erroneous, however I would hope that the colonel would update his list for missing facts. In regards to the Whitney, obviously some of the 332 Athletic Honor Role student athletes were not involved. If so they would in very spurious times not be considered Honor Role candidates. The longer you engage in a written dialogue the more you begin to acquire BigOT traits.

Semi, I’ll be damned if I can decipher half of what you wrote, hence my assumption you’re a Clemson fan. By the way, what are “spurious times”? (Spurious meaning fake or erroneous) Is that a really bad pun or a misnomer?

In any event, so there were a half dozen football players that were late on their rent to the Whitney and that has what to do with the above listed accomplishments of the other programs and individual student-athletes that were in no way associated with the Whitney? Please tell me.

What a sore loser. Can we put Nebraska in the SEC for a year and let him teach us how superior his team is to ours? Maybe Kentucky or Vandy can throw in a few second string players and take a loss for the team so their feelings don’t get too hurt at the end of the year.

tom osborne rolled over in his grave- and he's not even dead yet January 3, 2013 at 2:59 pm

georgia was an inconsistent defensive team all year. since they had a powerful and explosive offense their defense never had to develop serious and consistent, intense defensive efforts. they knew they could score near 50 against a big ten team and all year they played down to their competition- the same way the let teams like tennessee hang around (51-44), and knew that their running game and aaron murray could bail them out whenever they really needed it. any big ten idiots who talk sh1t need to be committed. the big ten has been routinely humiliated by the SEC on the biggest stages, to the point that they have no credibility to even compete for a spot in the national championship. nebraska made a huge mistake going to the big ten. the low quality of play has taken them from a national powerhouse-which they were through the nineties, to just another crappy overrated, media-hyped, physically weak and SLOW footed big ten also ran. theyre just lucky they have so many new years day tie-in bowl games or they would be lucky to get their teams into bbva compass bowl calibre venues. the highlight of the big ten bowl season was the taxslayerbowl victory. LOL! oh and credit where credit is due- michigan state did pull out a 7-6 season with an impressive one point win in the buffalo wildwings bowl in the deadzone of college football between christmas and new years eve.

Not a lot of difference between this idiot and Dabo Sweeny, FITS and the rest of the Tater fans…

Clemson NEVER FAILS to take some small insignificant win (like the over-rated LSU win)…to claim NATIONAL Status, all of a sudden…

Clemson is an average – at best- program…but they TRULY BELIEVE they belong in the Top 5, if not No. 1…

Clemson MAY BE a top 25 team…and that all Falls apart if Taj or Chad leaves..and even then, w/o Nuk, it may be a TOUGH 2013…

I just LMAO at the Clemson fans and media, acting like Clemson is some sort of National Power…all because of a FLUKE win….

Guest, that’s about the funniest thing I’ve ever read. Let us take a trip down memory lane. How about that fine scholar, Lawrence Phillips, currently doing 25 years in prison. I’m sure Clowney couldn’t hold a candle to this genius. Oh, least we forget Christian Peter, a rapist and career criminal that the Tom Osborn and the University covered up for. I’m sure between multiple physical and sexual assaults he was face down in those text books. Should I go on?

On the better than average chance you’re a silly tater, let’s not forget that Dabo said he “loved” Clowney and there’s zero chance he would have been rejected by Moo U. Sore loser. Loser. What’s the difference?

Yes, and what a probation it is. The Whitney Apocalypse that never happened. Kind of hilarious, and ironic, that a tater would bring probation. While the NCAA applauded SC’s handling of the Whitney clusterfuck and accepted our self-imposed minor sanctions, Ttater Tech is currently on the Mount Rushmore of cheaters along SMU and The U. Congrats.

And the Tater fans on Radio are now Proclaiming Clemson as GREAT and the ACC the best conf. in the World after Louisville, that will join the ACC in 2 years, beat Fla.

Ignorance at the HIGHEST Degree EVER…and FITS is Too Talent-less to pick up on the Controversy and debate value of it…

First, let me see. The B1G has to play higher ranked SEC teams and for getting their ass kicked……I’d say going into the 4th quarter with these as you believe superior teams tied or winning doesn’t mean much…..lol.

Yes they lost, however it wasn’t the ass whipping ESPN and bias SEC fans would like you to believe. SEC is overrated, and being built up because of the ESPN relationship and hype to help keep SEC talent in the SEC.

Alabama wouldn’t go undefeated or even only with 1 loss in the B1G, Big 12 or PAC……..

The SEC claims all this dominance, but thankfully they normally get lower ranked opponents……and then claim they are superior.

NOT……..but thanks for playing.

Oh, and for the record the HUSKER defense is literally one of the worst in the history of the program. You beat them by 14 with the 2nd best team in the nation………..lmao. Just wow…….lol.

I love how the media railed that the SEC’s and Alabama’s in particular hold on the NCAA Championship had finally been broken: YEA, YEA, YEA, etc.

1. Tallahassee Fla. home of Fla. State is only a few hundred miles south of Montgomery Ala. home of the Auburn Tigers.

2. The panhandle of Fla. is generally considered to be: South Alabama.

3. The quarterback Jameis Winston, and Heisman Trophy winner is from, wait for it::: “Bessemer, Ala.”

So, how does this break the Alabama SEC hold on the NCAA crown???

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!
