AMID “CLIFF” TALKS, OBAMA AWARDS $11 BILLION IN GOVERNMENT RAISES
Just call him “Saint Barack.” Assuming you’re a taxpayer-funded employee, that is …
As “leaders” of both parties in Washington, D.C. contemplate the depth and breadth of the ass reaming they’re about to administer to American taxpayers in 2013, Obama has decided to give all government employees a belated Christmas bonus.
Per the terms of an executive order signed by Obama earlier this week, federal employees will receive pay hikes ranging from 0.5 to 1 percent beginning on March 27, 2013. This salary increase will cost taxpayers $500 million over the first six months of its implementation and $11 billion over the coming decade according to preliminary estimates from the Congressional Budget Office.
Among those benefiting from the pay raises? U.S. Vice President Joe Biden – who will see his salary increase from $225,521 to $231,900 annually. Members of the U.S. Congress will also get a pay hike.
Obviously these increases represent a mere sliver of a much larger spending problem … but they highlight Obama’s tone deafness at a time when the entire country is about to get slapped with any number of new tax increases.
Or at least they would highlight Obama’s tone deafness … if anybody was giving this story the attention it deserves.
Sadly (but predictably) these pay hikes barely registered as a blip on the mainstream media’s radar … which is probably why eliminating them won’t register as a blip on the political radar of Republicans and Democrats seeking a deal on the “fiscal cliff.”
The beat goes on (badda boom da doom dadda) …

Our children and Grandchildren will curse our apathy and selfishness, at their expeense. No flowers on the graves in which we lie. They would only wilt anyway from all of the pisss they will deservadly deposit there.
Speak for yourself.

Damn, I should have gone into politics…that’s good money!
Little tea-bagger confirms what his posts intimate, he’s a draft-dodging chicken-hawk; quick to send troops where his dainty arse would be afraid to even read about.
And he’s a lyin’ sack of shit; Junior Bush left office with the legacy of being the worst president in history and an unemployment rate of 7.8%.
Junior Bush told us killing OBL wasn’t important. It took a real man in BHO to kill the evildoer.
Why is this monkey running the country? His decisions baffle the mind
Keep up the good work!
0.5-1%? That’s chump change. Congress should be exempt from the raise, though.
Ask that the pay increases be offset by spending cuts elsewhere. Take it out of subsidies for corporations, for instance.
Biden doesn’t deserve the raise, either.
I knew this picture was photoshopped when I saw the cig in his hand instead of a crack pipe.
It’s OK, like Clinton, he didn’t inhale.
Ha! Good one.
FBI ALL over this!
Will you help get the word out about this? And share with your friends? The craziness must stop.

The WORST president in my lifetime was a toss-up between Carter and obama: But Obama is EASILY the Absolute WORST to EVER be re-elcted…
Once the current corrupt media dies off, I think history will look back in TOTAL Amazement of how Obama could get re-elected being so Miserable…
But i think us eye-witnesses know it’s a combination of media cover-up of his record, the GOP’s insistence on a FITS-moderate and likely some voter fraud, in addition to Deadbeats, pop culturists and Takers being motviated in the worship of Blackness.
But in the end, Stupidity leads to bad outcomes. Obama may have bought 4 more years to live like an idol-king for the ignorant to admire…but like Hitler, John Gotti, Mark Sanford and John Edwards…it will eventually roost on him…
Tell us about your service to our country, tea-bagger. I’ll keep the light on for your worthless chicken-hawk candy arse.
You never served but never met a war you couldn’t commit your countrymen’ sons to die in. In the 40s, you would have been an America First/Chicago Tribune/Prescott Bush apologist for the Hitler you’re so quick to invoke
What was your MOS, tea-bagger: Cheerleader?
If Obama is the “worst president” in your lifetime, then:
1) You’ve had a good life.
2) You have amnesia and forgot about Dubya.
Guero has got to represent the avarerge liberal = Dumb@$$…
Is that the best yall got???
Tell us when and where you served your country, t-bagger?
You really are Stupid!
Today is “Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute Day”
Speaking of cliffs, I once fell off the couch during my more heated bang bangs.
Alone?
Were you with Madam Palm and her five dancing daughters?
No, I was with a guy named Cliff…
….. that’s a good one
IRT this pay raise. Is it the same increase mandated by a law that is decades old? That law requires that federal salaries increase by the rise in the CPI which was determined to be 1.7%. This goes into effect on Jan. 1 UNLESS the President submits an alternate plan. It appears that the alternative plan was a lower increase (less than the CPI rise) and a delay of approximately 90 days in implementation. Perhaps POTUS may also avoid getting lack of pay increases jacked up his rear as a former President did (can’t remember if it was Nixon or not) by the Judiciary who argued and won that it was a violation of the Constitution to not raise their salaries as that was a decrease in their pay that the Constitution forbid.
The funny thing is that zero raise means that federal employees are compensated at the exact same amount, which when you take inflation, or rising health care costs, or rising fuel costs, or just about anything else that goes up year by year into account is actually a small pay cut for them and a negligible spending cut for us. Too bad they aren’t cops or FITS might treat them like human beings and feel bad that they might have a bit more trouble paying for shit next year.
The real hilarious thing is that $11 billion in spending over ten years is astronomical, but $1.4 trillion in added revenue over the next decade “isn’t going to do anything to the deficit.” Keep in mind Willie says this absolute load of horseshit with a straight face, just like when he says a few million in tax rebates is a big deal when a few million in tax cuts for businesses isn’t enough to matter. It has nothing to do with the actual impact on the deficit or the hard numbers in this case, only what fits the proper narrative. That’s how $11 billion > $1,400 billion.
It is the same bullshit that FITS goes through every year with our “record-setting” budget, which may be going up at a rate past inflation, but isn’t the alarming government growth it is pretended to be on this site.
If $1 today was $1 ten years from now, they wouldn’t need the automatic raise. Wake me when that becomes reality.
I believe federal pay increases, under the Federal Employees’ Pay Comparability Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-509), are linked to ECI, not the CPI. Social Security benefits and federal retirement annuities are tied to CPI.
Must be nice to have a guaranteed pay increase. The private sector has no such guarantee.
Senior Executives, Certain Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Employees, and Administrative Law Judges don’t need a pay raise.
Probably, the regular civilian employees (certainly not elected politicians like Congress, or appointed heads) need the raises.
This doesn’t keep up with COLA.
Senate Outraged at Having to Work Weekend to Save Nation
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Howls of protest filled the halls of the U.S. Senate today as dozens of Senators expressed their outrage at having to work through the weekend to save the United States from financial Armageddon.
“We’re hearing a lot about the country plunging back into recession and millions of people being thrown out of work,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky). “What we’re not hearing much about is how our Sunday is being completely and irrevocably ruined.”
Senator McConnell said that when President Obama called the Senate back to work on a budget deal this weekend, “At first I thought he was kidding. Not only have I never worked on a weekend, I’ve never met anyone who’s done such a damn fool thing.”
The Senate Minority Leader added that “if saving this country means working Saturday and Sunday, then I’m not sure this is a country worth saving.”
“Yes, I know that the fiscal cliff is a ticking time bomb that could destroy the U.S. economy for years to come and take the rest of the world with it,” he said. “I also know that Sunday is Week seventeen of the N.F.L. season and now I’m missing all my games.”
Mr. McConnell said that while “saving the nation may be important to be some people,” he worries that forcing the Senate to work on a weekend is setting a dangerous precedent.
“For years, people have run for Congress because they knew that serving here was synonymous with not working,” he said. “If that’s going to change all of a sudden, a lot of us are going to feel very betrayed.”

Congress Collapses from Exhaustion After Doing Job
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — The House of Representatives adjourned this evening after the legislative body collapsed from exhaustion brought on by hours of doing its job.
Hundreds of congressmen complained of headaches, dizzy spells, and extreme fatigue after putting in what sources called “a six, maybe seven-hour day.”
With the nation headed over the fiscal cliff, there was no indication when Congress might reconvene, since many of its members had to be hospitalized after what was described as their near-total physical meltdown.
According to Dr. Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota Medical School, “Being forced to listen, compromise, and act like adults for minutes at a time was more punishing than these people could bear.”
Dr. Logsdon said that the grueling ordeal of doing their jobs would likely keep members of Congress in the hospital for weeks.
“I don’t see these people getting back to work until February at the earliest,” he said. “And that’s great news for this country. Happy New Year, America.”
