CHARLESTON TRIAL LAWYER, EX-COUNCILMAN LIKELY TO JOIN CROWDED FIELD
Former Charleston, S.C. County Councilman Curtis Bostic – a longtime friend of U.S. Senator-designate Tim Scott – is reportedly eyeing the first congressional seat currently held by his former colleague.
A personal injury attorney and Operation Desert Storm veteran, Bostic served with Scott on Charleston County Council from 2001-2009. He has reportedly had multiple “private conversations” with Scott about running for the seat – which the first-term Congressman will vacate to assume the U.S. Senate seat being give up in January by Jim DeMint.
Bostic isn’t being shy about his intentions either …
“Curtis Bostic is considering a run for the First Congressional seat soon to be vacated by his good friend, Tim Scott,” a recent Facebook post from Bostic’s law firm states. Meanwhile Bostic’s son – an aspiring actor and former aide to Scott – tweeted about his father’s flirtation with the seat earlier this week. Finally we’re told a pair of domain names – Bostic2013.com and BosticForCongress.com – were recently registered.
So … what makes Bostic’s prospective candidacy worth mentioning? Money …
Sources tell FITS that Bostic is “prepared to self-fund” his campaign, although a specific dollar amount wasn’t mentioned. Last week another Charleston lawyer – former S.C. Senator John Kuhn – said that he was prepared to pump at least $250,000 into his bid for the first district seat.
A veritable flood of candidates is eyeing the March 2013 special primary election for this seat – most notably former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, State Senator Larry Grooms (R-Berkeley), Charleston businessman Teddy Turner (son of media mogul Ted Turner) and S.C. Rep. Chip Limehouse (RINO-Charleston).

“being give up in January by Jim DeMint”
The perfect Freudian slip by Sic Willie. “give up” perfectly describes DeMinted. No one was listening to him, so he gave up.
Isnt this the same guy who lost his County Council seat in a marginally Republican District(that he himself had drawn) to Democrat Vic Rawl
You know the guy who lost to Alvin Green?
Real winner here!
Hahahaha!
A minor candidate with NO chance!
Uhh yeah he lost his race in 2008 – AS DID EVERY OTHER REPUBLICAN IN THE COUNTY because of the Obama Wave!
Thats not true at all
The Democrats only targeted certain seats(for example they offered NO candidates for any Courthouse positions, except forCoroner, which they lost)
They targeted Bostic because he was a weak candidate
In fact he was the ONLY Republican incumbent in Charleston County who lost in 2008
As for him being a “friend” of Tim Scott?
Im sure all these guys running are going to claim that
Werent Sanford and Scott “good friends?”
I pronounce ,Obama like ,’Alabama’,and shit,Jane are you a bitch…

GBV!
Did you know that Robert Pollard threw a no-hitter in college?
Sure do! Big fan, here! Also, maybe the only man that can drink two cases of beer a day while writing 50 great songs!
I sure hope Tim Scott has learned something about the fiscal cliff since his last interview about it. He will do whatever the party tells him to do.
We will never be truly represented as long as politicians are being paid by lobbyists and special interests. And my poodle could have done a better job than Jim Demint did. Thank goodness he sold his soul to the devil and got out.
As for me, I will vote for whatever Democrat runs against them, even if it’s good ole Alvin. I am sick of the GOP holding the middle class of America and our economy hostage with their political BS. I hope the Dems take it all. I’m sick of their obstructionism and their willingness to play politics with people’s lives and livelihood. They can all take a hike as far as my family is concerned.
…… “snuffle – snuffle – snuffle”
The sound you hear is the piglets crowding up to the trough.
What about Jenny, has she made her decision, yet?
Unlike “Crazy John” Kuhn, who lives off of a trust fund, Curtis has worked for every dollar. He comes from a middle class family and is a “quiet Christian” — meaning he goes on missionary trips overseas on his own nickle.
I’ve attended his church and he’s one of the few honest-to-goodness Christians I’ve ever met. (I can count them on one hand.)
Curtis is extremely honest and open — no transparency issues here. He did a great job on County Council and I was surprised he was defeated — I think when his district was re-drawn.
And different from all the other hypocrites lining up in this race, Curtis served four years in the army or air force (I forget which).
He’s got a big family (seven kids, I believe), and the last time I inquired, his charming wife had been stricken with breast cancer. I don’t know if she’s still alive.
I’d vote for Curtis in a skinny minute.
Beep
You have provided more than enough information to qualify Mr. Bostic to serve in Congress. However, you are aware he is a candidate for public office in South Carolina and more specifically from the Charleston area.
You made absolutely no mention of any of the following:
Alcoholism
Adultery
Indictment
Under Investigation
Civil Litigation
Rejected Beauty Contest Contestant
Sour Land Deal
Divorce, multiple preferred
Misuse of Campaign Funds
Airplane, personal not commercial
Closet Homosexual or Bisexual, toss up
Probation as juvenile
Ankle bracelet
House arrest
Mistress, multiple preferred
Farts in public
Gambling
Nepotism
Born Again, at least 3 times
Experienced Appalachian Trail Camper
DUI, no convictions, multiple arrests
South Carolina voters are unique in what they are looking for in an elected representative. Unless Mr. Bostic’s resume includes at least one and preferably three of the above he will be DOA at the polls.
Certainly vote for whom ypu wish. However, neither Bostic, nor “Crazy” John Kuhn,is going to win this Congressional seat.Indeed ,assuming there are seven or eight candidates as seems likely. Both will finish toward the rear of the pack.
I’d vote for anyone running against Mark Sanford…How pathetic SC is to even have him on a ballot, what a joke we are.
Jim, your qualifications-disqualifying list is a hoot and probably true for the majority of public office holders in the great Iodine State. However, sexual matters should be taken off the table for everyone as everyone has a sex life. The majority of politicians have been unfaithful and a good many are bisexual, as most people have bi-tendacies if they were honest.
Curtis Bostic is a very good friend of mine. He is like an uncle to me. I would like to first say he did not lose against Alvin Greene with an “E.” Tim Scott and Curtis Bostic are very good friends they will work well together. Curtis Bostic was in the U.S. Marine Corps along with his very dedicated younger sister. They served in Desert Storm. Not the “Army” or “Air Force” He has 5 children. His wife is alive and healthy. God has truly blessed his family. They are a wonderful family and before you judge or criticize them maybe you should get to know them. Don’t make posts if you can’t get the facts straight.
Who said he lost to Alvin Green?
In my post,I referred to the fact tha he lost his council seat to Vic Rawl.Rawl lost to Alvin Green in the Democratic Senatorial race in 2010.i said nothing about him or his family. For all I know,he is a fine fellow. So?
That has nothing to do with him being elected to Congress .
Gotta love the FITS “logic chain”
Bostic’s son worked for Scott = Bostic & Scott are best friends = Bostic & Scott are having private conversations about Bostic running. WTF???
No sources cited other then Bostic’s FB post and his son’s tweet. This isn’t even reporting, its gossip.
Curtis is a deacon at Charleston Harbor Bible Church, which he helped to establish. I’ve attended it and he and his wife are great Christian role models. As someone commented here, he served in combat for his country. Few people I’ve ever met are more genuine and honest than Curtis. The guy’s got a heart of gold. He reminds me of another Curtis — namely Curtis Loftis. Good guys.
FYI, here is his bio at the church website:
Curtis Bostic oversees worship and teaches at Charleston Bible Church. He is passionate about bringing the congregation into the Lord’s presence to offer up the sacrifice of praise. He is married to Jenny, and they have five children, Daniel, Elizabeth, Joseph, Jonathan, and Stephen. Curtis is an attorney and the founder of the nonprofit organization Remember which cares for the widows and orphans of Christian martyrs. When he gets some free time you might find him riding his motorcycle or flying an airplane.
I read this article yesterday and then when I went shopping I saw his son on the wall in American Eagle……. Only slightly creepy. Didn’t he endorse batshit crazy Michele Bachmann? Damn what an idiot.
Actually I’ve had the privilege of meeting Daniel several times mostly at the gym – yes he modeled for American Eagle, yes he endorsed Michele Bachmann. So what if you disagree – it doesn’t make him an idiot. At least he isn’t out smoking pot and causing trouble like most other kids his age, he’s doing something with his life and he’s doing a pretty good job of it based on what I read about him.
No, you’re wrong. It does make him an idiot. The batshit doesn’t fall far from the tree…
Damn – a kid goes out and makes something of his life instead of partying it away, and you call him batshit crazy just because he endorses a republican presidential candidate. People like you are the problem with society today, our kids have no desire to succeed with screwed up haters like yourself. So while your kids are off smoking weed, and learning to wear their pants around their ankles, I will continue to support guys like Daniel that are doing something with their lives. Curtis’s ENTIRE FAMILY has an awesome reputation and thats why I’m casting my vote for him.
Bostic and Scott served on Charleston County Council together. That explains how they know each other. Both are conservatives and republicans.
Bostic served from 2001 to 2009 and was vice chairman several years.
He is a friend of the environment.
He wrote the “Charleston Greenbelt Bank” ordinance that county voters endorsed by referendum in 2004 to use part of a half-penny of extra sales tax to buy “greenbelt” land to save them from development.
That is, to buy and use them for public parks.
Paul Thurmond, also mentioned as a possible contender in this race, was also on County Council — but only for four years — and in 2011, within months of leaving Council — put the “heavy hand” on fellow council members to buy the “Bulow Hunt Club” that was owned by a client of his.
Bulow is swampland that the Greenbelt Bank Board DID NOT WANT TO BUY. But Thurmond put pressure on all council members and despite three Post and Courier editorials objecting to the “rush nature” of the deal, Council overruled the Bank Board and ordered the County (including the now-corrupt Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission) to buy the swampland.
When Thurmond learned that the appraisal came back “too low” by $1 million, he instructed the appraiser to “redo” or “resubmit” the appraisal with fabricated assumptions printed in all capital letters so that council could see the bigger number but ignore the “qualification” or “disavowal.”
Later we learned that Thurmond had secretly pocketed $100,000 in “consulting fees” for making those nine phone calls to his former pals in council.
Also voting to approve the swampland deal was Elliott Summey, also interested in this seat.
So we’ve got lots of “council swampland guys” doing shady deals on the one hand and Curtis on the other.
My ONLY problem with Curtis is that he’s a slip-and-fall lawyer.
Incidentally, Thurmond quit his council seat in order to run for the District 1 seat. In that six-way primary, Thurmond and Scott were the top two vote getters.
Scott went on in the runoff to obliterate Thurmond in a 65% – 35% landslide.
Thurmond wants Scott’s seat so bad he can taste it.
He also told his step-sister, Essie Mae Washington, that he’d get that seat “in memory of our father.”
Interesting piece. Actually Essie Mae is his half-sister. And who knows, Tim Scott could be a half-brother.
I understand if you don’t want to support a certain candidate but bashing his son and his family is so sad. Curtis has not even made his decision our entire family has been praying that he will be able to make the right one. If it is meant to be he will run and if it is not he will not run. I can not speak for my Uncle but with God’s help and the support of his family and friends he will decide. We will support him either way. I have had the privilege to meet.
Mr. Tim and he is a great guy I remember the very first time I met him it was during the summer when he first ran for congress before Daniel even worked for Tim. I was at the primary celebration party and Tim stopped and spoke to me and introduced himself and made me feel like the most important person to him in the room at the time, even though he had a million other people to talk to.
Tim Scott and Curtis Bostic are two great men. I have a lot of respect for them both.
I know nothing about this guy, but if lives a christian life instead of just wearing it on his sleeve, then he has my respect. If he support conservation, he has my respect for that too.
However, those things probably make him a unelectable RINO to the nut jobs.
Is no one else curious as to why Scott would want an 18yr old actor/model on his staff? I mean the dude isnt exactly unknown at least according to his twitter – twitter.com/debostic
What could a guy like this possibly contribute to the federal government???? Can’t believe that no one else thinks this is just a little odd ……
At that point in time Daniel was only doing acting on the side. His acting and modeling took off when he began college. Daniel is not 18. I don’t think he is 1st and won’t be the last to be a teenager to work for Congress. In fact Congress picks different young adults to become interns for them in D.C and Daniel was one of after that he was offered a job in Scott’s home office. He’s not the only Bostic who has worked for Scott!
Hmmmm…..single 40 yr old Congressman hires 18 year old prettyboy actor/model on his staff. Something is up, thats for sure.
I pray that Curtis makes the right decision as far as if he chooses to run. He is not entering this lightly. He has many friends and family that supports whatever he decides. I agree that everyone needs to do their research. But trashing his son is hitting below the belt. I have grown up and went to school with kids whose parents were doctors, lawyers, politicians and so forth. Many of the kids I did not fit in with do to their lifestyle. But that didn’t make their parents incapable of carrying out their duties. If it is meant to be The Lord will make a way. As far as the filth that I’ve seen on some of the posts I’m truly saddened.
Great – another guy with a strong hollywood connection. Just because his son is somewhat famous and has a large following doesn’t make his Dad relevant……
