Once again Sic Willie (needing that Howie Rich check) throws rocks at SC public schools. I happened to read some background on a native SC son named Charles H. Townes. Born in Greenville, he attended SC public schools. BTW he shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in quantum electronics. I am sure it is a topic that Sic Willie knows quite well. Another dumb SC public educated boy.
SC public schools were a darn sight different back then. To compare the current disaster ongoing in the public school system to the quality education available before integration, bussing, and “white flight” is a sad joke. I’m sure Townes got a great education in the 40’s and 50’s Greenville schools.
Townes invented or help invent the laser.
Kerry Mullis (sp?) of Dreher HS, Columbia, also received a Nobel Prize, for work on DNA replication.
Quality nipples there.
Maybe the award should be entitled “Excellence in Journalistic Nippleness” in this case.
