2012 ENDS ON GOOD NOTE FOR DRIVERS

Here at FITS we’ve been tracking gas prices pretty consistently over the last year, checking in roughly once a month to see how much South Carolinians are shelling out at the pump.

It’s been a roller coaster ride, although as we’ve pointed out repeatedly the real issue isn’t necessarily the price of gas in the Palmetto State (it’s usually cheaper here than it is almost anywhere else in the country) – it’s the unusually large percentage of family budgets consumed by fuel prices.

We may have cheap gas … but because our people are disproportionately poor (and getting poorer), they wind up paying more to fill up their rides than people in virtually every other state.

Anyway, according to the latest readings from the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in South Carolina has fallen all the way down to $3.02. That’s 21 cents below the national average of $3.23.

Gas prices in the Palmetto State began the year at $3.22 per gallon – fifteen cents below the national average of $3.37.  In April, prices climbed as high as $3.72 per gallon in South Carolina – compared to the national average of $3.90.

With the cost of so many other essential items on the rise, it’s nice to see gas prices becoming more manageable. Also, with additional global production coming online in 2013 and a dropoff in demand projected due to the lingering softness of the “recovery,” we could see gas prices fall even further next year.

What are gas prices like in your neck of the woods? Post your experiences in our comments section below …

Global demand will take care of much US “surplus”.

FITS can do better with fuel-related articles. This was space-filler.

Also, enough about SC being “poor”. Dumb rustics are always going to be poor and always going to lower the State average and they are culturally incurable even if Howard Rich descends from Heaven and takes over the school system.

The people who are worth a damn in this State are not poor.

It’s only temporary. With addressing what makes gas so damn expensive in the first place, all this is is a short break in high gas prices.

Reign in speculation, lower consumption.

Money printing might have something to do with its long term ascendance.

I’m chomping at the bit wanting to know more about how you would “reign” in speculation?

Was it Mr Ed who said, “I’d rather rein in Hell, rhan serve in Heaven.”

Reign/rein missuse makes me go full Sheldon Cooper. Sorry.

Bazinga!

That is one fine ass, for sure. I wonder if the bow is as seeworthy as the stern? Looks like a redhead to me, red on the head means fire in the hole.

Regarding gas prices, certainly in my circle of concern, out of my circle of control.

This is the same photo you used in October, but as far as I’m concerned, you can use it over and over again. Better still, track her down and get a photo spread.

Anyone who has to lust after a woman on the internet (especially on FITS) must be one Hard-up pervert…

Try a REAL woman…I promise it’s better….But it may mean you have to drop some of your Abject Ignorance, long enough to communicate something more than what MSNBC instructs you to say..

Only a FITS liberal can see $3-a-gallon gas prioce as a DROP…

You MoFos are SO stupid…it’s how you can raise the debt to $16 Trillion, and convince the IGNORANT F&*ks who vote for you, that you’ve cut it…

Stupidity has consequences. Obama and FITS prove that…

Sadly the good Conservatives, who earn it, pay for your ignorance…

Yes, we know at the end of Bush’s second term, gas was at $2. Gee, I wonder what else happened at the end of his 2nd term? Could have been a global financial meltdown? That couldn’t have any effect on prices, could it?

How high were the gas prices before that, hmmm? Topped over $4 in the summer of ’08.

Hey: Ken: What did Bush do to lower prices, that went up when Congress went democrat???……and What was the price per gal, when Obama was sworn in…you Filthy Lying Sack of Liberal $#!*….

He helped crash the economy to lower prices. Really helpful. As in, “Hey, I don’t have a f*#&ing job, but at least gas is $2 a gallon.”

But see, you’re missing the point. There’s a reason that gas was less than $2 a gallon when Obama was sworn in, and it’s not because of anything good that happened during the end of Bush’s 2nd term.

The operative words in your post above are “at times”. Well, what was it at the end of his 2nd term? And how am I lying exactly? What have I said above that was untrue?

We don’t have any ongoing wars in the Middle East. Right now its just the local subhumans doing what they love so well. The only thing wrong with that kind of Middle East war is there are survivors.
