I know it works for the Repugnants but it sucks for the rest of us.

” In fact just last month this unapologetic free market backer won reelection to this longtime Democratic seat by a 15-point margin”

What are you talking about? The results were Mulvaney 55.5%, Joyce Knott 44.4%. Further even though Ms. Knott, was a political unknown, had no political background, no name recognition, no organization, no money, and ran no ads Mulvaney still only managed to win just over half the vote. Mulvaney would be a horrible choice.

There is no evidence Mulvaney received any support from Democrats in his district, which pretty much makes your statement he knows how to take the case to both parties, well, untrue.

He would only serve to create more gridlock in Washington.

In fact, Mulvaney won the fewest votes of any SC House candidate except Tom Rice. Again with no organized competition.

gee Jan, with the Democrats in the Senate not allowing amendments to bills, never mind not allowing House bills the last few years on the Senate floor, and Schumer now for the nuclear option after he was against it, Democrats own the gridlock. Another vacuous perturbed utterance from a bitter partisan far left Democrat dung beetle.

5th congressional district precincts average 42-45% straight party Democrat voting.
Ms. Knotts got 44% – I think you can handle the math from there.

Precisely my point. Mulvaney did not win his seat by 15 points that was a fabrication, and there is no evidence he has any ability to reach across party lines. Which makes the statement he knows how to take the message to both parties also a fabrication.

Gee Thomas, given the number of filibusters the Republicans have engaged in since Obama was first elected and their stated position their number one goal was to make him a one term president, I think the public knows which party has been responsible for gridlock, and why.

Family’s Law firm and real estate development group – Spratt and Ms. Knott, “the unknown democrat” tried unsuccessfully to slime him with one of his family’s real estate deals that collapsed. He also owned a Salsarita’s franchise.

The Libs touting Ms. Knott’s apparent “success” at the polls neglect to mention that she got most of her votes via straight party ticket voting averaging about 42-45% in each of the SC 5th Congressional District precincts.

Ahhhhh, the informed electorate…

North Carolina Bar.

Mulvaney attended Georgetown University where he majored in International Economics, Commerce and Finance. At Georgetown, he was an Honors Scholar, the highest level of academic achievement awarded to members of the Georgetown School of Foreign Service, and ultimately graduated with honors in 1989. Mulvaney attended law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned a full scholarship to attend law school, where his focus was on anti-trust law. He graduated with his law degree in 1992.[3]

From 1992 to 1997, Mulvaney practiced law with the firm James, McElroy & Diehl. Mulvaney joined his family’s homebuilding and real estate business. He participated in the Owners and Presidents Management Program at Harvard Business School

Sounds like he’s a stinking Tar Heel to me. Never had a job in SC, huh? What’s he doing representing this state? Is he a licensed contractor or real estate broker? Only practiced law for five years? Four years of college plus three years of law school and he was a lawyer for five years at most. Sounds like his family has been taking care of this fortunate one. Any military service? He should be about the right age to have seen a little bit of combat if he had a hair on his ass.

Lance,
Thomas Jefferson had “no military service ” should he have been disqualified?

Both “Andrews “, Johnson and Jackson were tarheels as well as lawyers and Soldiers – only Jackson was worth a damn and he barely practiced any law andhad no formal legal training.

My point is that no one thing makes you a great leader or politician (if there is such a thing) . Less than 1% of the US public will ever wear a uniform. Mulvaney got elected after working in the family business for 5 years.

Mulvaney’s worth ? $6,000,000 or so much of which he earned himself.

Mick would be a good choice, but my 2 cents says Duncan would be better (while we’re day dreaming here…). A little more solid voting record…smart…covers ALL the conservative bases…and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Also, probably comes across better and has the personality that might help bring others along….

But again, we’re day-dreaming here. If I had to bet right now, i’d say it goes to McMaster. Shame.

Mick needs to thank Ralph Norman for that congressional seat. Ralph did all the dirty work for a republican to gain that spot. He just ran at a bad time and then Mick waltzed in. Don’t get me wrong, mick is doing an okay job yet lets all agree he has no likability factor. Let Mick sit in his congressional seat and let’s put a businessman in the senate….. Ralph Norman would get the job done!!
