The pressure on Haley to pick Scott will be strong from the national party. They need some diversity tokens and Michael Steele didn’t work out.
If Haley picks a caretaker, then she will probably run for Senate herself. She knows she can’t win Governor again, but if she spews enough boilerplate conservative talking points, she might sneak into the senate.

If she appointed Curtis she would get rid of the only person that could beat her in the primary. And Curtis is not the type to stay in Washington for long so he could stay 2 years or 8. Either way she is still young, there would be an open seat, and he would owe her.
For entertainment purposes, I’d be okay with Scott, Haley, Sanford, or anyone with a turban.

Given all the self-flagellation in the GOP since the election about their utter failure to win minority votes, I’d say Scott has a pretty good shot at this point- at least as a place-holder.

Hmm……lets think about that appointment for a second..!? Since there will be major voter blowback, this would be a very viable political play. Anyone who gets this appointment is sitting on political dynamite at the next election. Thomas is a wounded “blue” as much as Mark Sanford. Either of these two would be a great pick to not run in the next election cycle and offer a wide open primary field without any perceived lollipops.
T-Rav and Mark would be Nikki’s safe bets on both sides of the spectrum and give her free sway to spin to both sides. All the while, allowing her to keep at arms length.
