Washington, DC—South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan made the following statement regarding Senator DeMint’s announcement that he will be resigning from the Senate to lead the Heritage Foundation:

“Senator DeMint has been a conservative champion and a dedicated public servant to the nation. Jim has always been someone I’ve admired, and I’m proud to call him a friend. Jim’s leadership and voice will be deeply missed in the United States Senate and in South Carolina. I’m excited for him as he begins his new role with the Heritage Foundation, and grateful that he’s continuing the fight in other ways.”

“Whoever takes Jim’s place in the Senate will have large shoes to fill. I hope that person is committed to the same values of limited government, free markets, and individual liberties that Sen. DeMint has championed for so many years. I’ll be praying for Gov. Haley to select a leader who believes in the principles that Jim has fought so hard to defend.”

Good that DeMint is leaving Congress. He’s done enough obstruction with his co-horts who plotted against the president and denied jobs to their constituents all for the sake of making President Obama a one term president.

The destruction of our country began with the GOP lawmakers who met on January 20, 2009 to destroy our country and have succeeded in obstructing the American people of moving forward with jobs. These are the cowards you should blame for lack of jobs and helping our economy, put the blame where it belongs:

The guest list on the night of President Obama’s inauguration, January 20, 2009(which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor ; Kevin ; Paul Ryan; Pete Sessions; Jeb Hensarling; Pete Hoekstra; along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl; Tom Coburn; John Ensign; and Bob Corker; The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith.

Be it ideology or stratagem, the GOP has blocked pro-growth policy and backed job-killing austerity – all while blaming Obama and Jim DeMint took an active part.

Senators: Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, Tom Coburn, John Ensign, and Bob Corker have:

– Filibustered more Bills (over 300) than any Congress combined in US History.
– Voted NO on every single piece of Legislation brought to the Floor including:
NO on Al Franken’s Anti-Rape Amendment,
NO on Lilly Ledbetter,
NO on Fair Pay Act,
NO on Anti-Outsourcing Bill (2010)

How in the hell could any thinking American be against those Bills? Seriously?!?
