REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE CHALLENGES LOSS TO TED VICK
Attorneys for Republican candidate Richie Yow are protesting his November 6 loss to S.C. Rep. Ted Vick (D-Chesterfield) in the race for S.C. House District 53.
“Numerous material irregularities, errors and problems affected the results of this election,” a formal election protest filed with the S.C. State Election Commission alleges.
Specifically, the complaint alleges that “in excess of 2,000 illegal/ improper voters were cast” in the race – including ballots cast by non-residents of the district. The suit also alleges the presence of duplicate absentee ballots and claims that one precinct featured more votes “than registered voters who presented themselves and signed the voter’s oath.”
These irregularities – along with “illegal conduct” by poll workers – are “sufficient to render the results of this election doubtful,” the complaint concludes.
Vick, a Democrat, was a leading candidate to win the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Congress until a traffic stop involving (a) alcohol, (b) an unregistered firearm and (c) a woman who wasn’t his wife conspired to derail his candidacy. The arrest was particularly damaging to Vick, a part-time pastor who campaigned as a “family values” Democrat.
Vick dropped out of the congressional race but remained in the race for the S.C. State House – narrowly defeating Yow, who received the endorsement of this website.

Figures,
Vick was desperately grasping to power after being exposed in the arrest.
Dayum son – Teddy Vick’s arrest HELPED him in Chesterfield (well the girl and gun part did anyway). From what I hear, most folk in Chesterfield was relieved it was a young girl and not one of Hodge’s young boys. And who don’t ride around with a concealed handgun and an expired CWP, anyway? Now, the Baptist preacher drinkin likker thing did hurt a bit. I mean, every one knows that drinkin likker is the Deacon’s job…
So that is what the SC Supreme Court building looks like…..
Where’s the “lawn jockey”,cut-up tire planter and “shiney ball on a pedistal thingy”
Around back maybe???
Yow and his lawyer gonna look foooolish when sumbuddy check they arithmetic. Heh, Heh
crackahasscrackah apparently you never finished school, because you don’t know how to spell worth a damn. Making stupid remarks and not knowing what kind of illegal tactics Vick was pulling in order to STEAL the election you need to go back and learn more.
Dayum Son – you don’t think that crackahass knows that isn’t how you spell sumbuddy?
Yow can’t stand it that he lost to a Baptist preacher man who speeds through five points in the middle of the night with a young coed on his arm and a couple of loaded guns in his pocket. But, guess what? He did lose to that guy. Until today, he had only lost an election. He is about to lose his dignity when his meritless protest gets tossed out…
Reads to be a slam dunk case for Mr. Yow
It is a shame he has filed it in a State where the:
Governor is a Gypsy Queen
Lt. Governor is also a Queen and a Confederate General
Attorney General is a Woodchuck
Comptroller General is a Pervert
Speaker of the House is a Louse
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is a Toad
It might be a slam dunk case if Yow (or his “lawyer”)weren’t just making stuff up.
Here are the facts:
There are 23,980 registered voters in Chesterfield County.
16,930(or 70.6%) live in House Dist. 53 represented by Ted Vick.
3,656 (or 15.25%) live in House Dist. 54
3,393 (or 14.15%) live in House Dist. 65
In Chesterfield County, the following votes were cast:
16,594 in Presidential race
15,671 in 7th District Congressional race
*14,973 in THREE COMBINED STATE HOUSE RACES
13,584 in unopposed County Coroner race
13,510 in unopposed County Treasurer race
13,496 in unopposed County Clerk of Court race
13,298 in unopposed County Auditor race
13,000 in unopposed Solicitor race
*In the three COMBINED state house races in Chesterfield,
11,358 (or 75.86%)voted in Dist. 53 (Vick v. Yow v. Powell)
2,092 (or 13.97%)voted in unopposed Dist. 54 race
1,523 (or 10.17%)voted in unopposed Dist 65 race
In politics, you can just make stuff up and nothing bad much happens. You might lose an election, but that’s about it. In a legal proceeding such as an election protest, bad things happen when you just make stuff up. So, when Yow claims in Parapraph 10(K) of his protest that ” …7,977 more ballotes were cast in the combined house races county wide than there were ballots counted in the county”, he is just making stuff up. I doubt much if any thing will happen to Yow. But, I would be sweating bullets if I was his “lawyer” …
Of course, since he’s a Republican running for public office in SC, he could just be stupid.
What’s in Toal’s best interests? That’s all that matters. That’s how the decision will be made.
WOW – You only have to spend about 30 seconds on the SC Election Commission website to realize that Yow’s lawyer – M.W. Cockrell, III – is either utterly incompetent or he is deliberately misrepresenting facts to a tribunal.. . and I mean disbarment type of deliberate misrepresentation. WOW.
His protest takes the district-wide results for each of three House district races and represents that they were all cast in Chesterfield County (when multiple thousands were PLAINLY and CLEARLY cast in other counties). Surely, he can’t be that dumb. I mean he passed a Bar exam, didn’t he? It must be deliberate, he can’t be that dumb. But, then again, he failed to name the Lancaster County Election Commission, a necessary party to his protest. So, maybe he is not crooked, and only incompetent. He had better hope Queen Jean and the Supremes see it that way.
Attorney discipline in SC is completely at Toal’s discretion and whim. The other four lumps have nothing to do with it. If he’s a Democrat and hasn’t murdered somebody – with several witnesses, he’s fine with Toal. There are no rules for Judicial or Attorney discipline except for what Toal wants it to be.
This is a big breaking story. The Charlotte paper has already picked it up. Yow has a slam dunk case here, does it surprise anyone that somebody who was arrested on two felony charges months before, would be breaking the law to stay in power?
Anyone who reads Yow’s petition who has graduated from the 6th grade will understand that it is unadulterated bullshit. You can’t take district-wide numbers and pretend they are Chesterfield County numbers to establish a prima facie case for a protest without there being significant consequences. The protest document is clearly sanctionable at least as to Yow’s broken-down lawyer.
You think if Yow really had a case that the State GOP wouldnt be funding his legal fees? They would hire someone who had at least has a clue (even Butch and Kevin have a clue…) They ain’t paying for that guy…
you need to slow down there cowboy, take a break from sniffin’ Jay’s ass and ballsack! ya’ll know when you got sweaty Bill involved with that free bbq that you dun gone and dun somethin wrong. don’t worry, in another 2 years, Jay want have to worry about who the local rep is…his ass is gonna be in Federal prison. where do ya think that’ll leave you there little Billy Boy?? who’s yo daddy now?? better go ahead and book that 2nd voyage on the QE II so ya’ll can spend some quality time together before yo’ sugar daddy goes bye-bye.
Vick’s goose is cooked.
See. It happen everywhere, not jes’ here in Richland County. And what’s so bad about getting drunk and running around with somebody other than your spouse. Nikki do it, why not Vicki?
Dayum Son – no such thing as ” an unregistered firearm” in South Carolina, Wilbur. We don’t register firearms down here, son. I think you meant to say “concealed firearm” as Teddy had let his concealed weapons permit expire. Hopefully, Teddy will cosponsor legislation to get rid of those damn permits once and for all (and maybe fire a few bureaucrats while we at it).
Unless he was wearing it on his body it was most likely not a violation. SC laws are fairly liberal as to having a loaded gun in your vehicle. It simply has to be in a glove box or other storage space that has a locking mechanism. Does not have to be locked and again, the gun can be loaded.
The press always makes a big deal about “oooh, they found a gun in his car”. Well, CWP or not, it’s not a crime unless you are a felon or are committing a felony at the time.
If it was under the seat, between the seats, then he is just a dumb ass. CWP doesn’t change the previous law. Look into the SC “briefcase” law. Perfectly legal to carry a gun in a money bag or briefcase going to and from ones business.
So, think about it, Legal at home and on personal property, i.e. your lakehouse, cabin, rental house, motel, etc. Legal in your car, even on your motorcycle while in transit, legal in a bag from car into business.
SC gun laws are reasonable and fair WITHOUT a CWP. Now if you are toting it into the 7-Eleven, etc., better get the CWP.
Keep electing liberals and all that will change.
old south, he carried it into the police station when they took him to book him!! it was in his back pocket, they found it when they patted him down before turning the key. the arresting officer did not perform at the vehicle, presumably because he was legislator and did not want to disrespect. problem was, you can’t disrespect someone who deserves no respect.
oh, btw, he is not just a dumbass but an arrogant asshole to boot; he and his wife!!
Soooo then now! Let’s see. Teddy caught DRUNK and driving and still drives! HUH???? Caught with a weapon concealed and no permit! HUH??? Caught with a young ‘cutie” and he was a “giving the poor thing” a ride to her home or his condo!! HUH???? Now right before the election, his “compassion for mankind” lead him to feed a bunch of people “barbecue” with no intentions to “sway the vote”. HUH??????? The times they have changed but the tactics and behavior has not!!!!!Let’s see where Mr. Yow can take this. GO RICHIE!!!!!!!!!!!
What about the free chicken dinners and the free rides to vote on the saturday before the election? Anybody got any insight on that?
I am mad as hell now. I mean, I am from Chesterfield County and it looks like I gave my vote away for free – I never heard anything about any free BBQ or Chicken.
I can see the vote count debate – Bill Clinton always said Republicans were challenged by simple arithmetic. I guess a lot of them found that out when they were so surprised on election night.
At some point when you realize you just didn’t get enough votes everybody has to concede – even Allen West learned that.
Saw Bill’s BBQ and Sapphire Finch unpacking and setting up their BBQ stand on the Saturday before the election in Chesterfield at the beauty shop in front of Watson Bros. Appliances. I hope the folks enjoyed then there free sammiches!!!
Mr. Dixie, Vick can afford quite a bit, seeing as how he’s so poor and down on his luck that he gets farm subsides. How else is that minister going to keep all the young girlies happy?
Still nobody can explain why Teddy, who brags about being a LTC in the Guard, has never deployed when practically every one else has, many twice or more. He could have done the honorable thing and volunteered, or the Adjutant General could have “suggested” this. My daughter was good enough to go, why isnt he?
