RON PAUL’S FAREWELL ADDRESS TO THE U.S. CONGRESS
We live in a culture that reduces issues to meaningless ten word soundbites – and elections to meaningless choices between ideologically indistinguishable candidates who spout these soundbites back and forth at each other like bad actors parroting hackneyed lines we’ve all heard hundreds of times before.
Whatever party label or ideological mantra these clowns apply to themselves, the underlying script remains the same – unsustainable spending, soaring debt, higher taxes and fees, expanded regulations, corruption, incompetence and more money-printing to keep the house of cards propped up. And not only do special interests own the politicians perpetuating these terrible outcomes, they own the parties to which they belong and the media “reporting” on them.
The only real exception to this increasingly rancid pile of bipartisanshit? The movement started by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul – whose presidential bid this website enthusiastically endorsed.
Perceived in many circles – especially “Republican” circles – as nothing but a fringe annoyance, Paul has nonetheless blazed a trail for this nation’s future that will either be followed … or else. Of course the party he has represented for more than three decades continues to ignore him and his followers – at its peril.
This week the iconic Texan strode to the well of the U.S. House of Representatives for one last time to offer a farewell address to his colleagues.
“We need an intellectual awakening,” Paul said in his expansive remarks, which provided a lengthy but lucid diagnosis of our nation’s impending fiscal collapse as well as the steps that must be taken in order to avoid it.
Sadly, it’s doubtful that such an awakening will occur. In a culture that barely has time to watch 30-second commercials in their entirety – it’s doubtful that Paul’s 49-minute address will receive the widespread viewership that it deserves.
That’s a shame, because this is one of those rare speeches that quite simply defines a nation – what it is, where it’s been and where it’s headed if drastic changes (including draconian cuts) aren’t made immediately.
Take a look …
(Click to play)
Amen, Brother Paul.
Sadly, it’s also doubtful that Paul’s speech will find a home in the classrooms of America’s failing government schools … which would much rather continue feeding future generations of dependents all that “hope and change” nonsense as they dumb them down even further.
Meanwhile the mainstream media is already mocking Paul’s address.
“Yes, there are gold standard and raw milk references,” wrote Romney sycophant-turned-Obama sycophant Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post.
Prophets have never been welcome in their homelands, but whatever. No matter how Paul’s address is received by the media – or how broadly it is disseminated into the public bloodstream – it doesn’t change the fact that the fiscal judgment of which he speaks “cometh … and that right soon.”
So get ready …

Beat that broken drum Will, beat that broken drum…
You, Mr Colonel, are the broken drum.
Rat-a-tat-tat…
“The Colonel” is a dumb bunny.
Colonel Angus?
“Rat-a-tat-tat…”
Colonel, are you making a gun noise to insinuate you are shooting at me? Oh how I wish you would you try you poser. You have “liberty” on your flag yet you mock the one person in DC, Ron Paul, who faught for true libery his whole time as a politician. Continue your meaningless, cowardly threats; I can only hope we get to meet face to face some day.
I could be mistaken, but I think he was referencing the sound a broken drum makes….carry on.
Fare well Brother!!
Have a Great Day!! :) There won’t be many left with Obonehead in charge. Yes I voted for Obonehead so get over it Republitard!!

take a bath you goat humping indian
Why would you vote for him when you’ve made it clear that you disagree with him, and disagree with the republitard, which ultimately I agree on both accounts. There was Gary Johnson who did stand for most, if not all ideals that Ron Paul supports and endorses. Right now we have 2 parties destroying this country and remain mostly unchallenged. Instead of supporting the 2 party system which is destroying our country, we need real difference, real outside opinion, and real belief in what the founding fathers stood for which is what Paul continuously stood for.
Hans;
Clearly you have no clue who I am. I would vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat for one simple plain fact. He is a true conservative. Our ideals were cut from nearly the same cloth. I hold no love for Republicrats or Demlicans alike. they are two sides of the same coin.
Gary Johnson, while likely being of sound mind, didn’t stand a chance. Nor will the Libertarian party for a short time longer or for a very long time. They have no uniform base, a sign of conservatism in itself. The power base formed by the Republicrats and Demlicans is unassailable on the legislative front.
I stood in your shoes 32 years ago. I’ve seen this coming for a long time. I truly believe, with all of my soul, our country stands at a precipice. A clear point where choices will be made, and less than comfortable. I pray that these choices come in my time and spare my children and theirs.
As to “…is destroying our country,…” No Sir. It has destroyed these United States of America some 50+ years ago. When the populace learned they had the power to legislate insanity, this country died. I pray it does not go the way of ancient Greece. It was a few millenia before we got freedom back. That’s a long time for our ancestors to suffer.

“Blazed a trail”, really?!? What trail would that be, the path to goofy old man land?
“Dr. Paul and the Paulinistas” are just one more of a long line of “Prophets” (fringe candidates) who, while appealing in some respect or another, simply lack the ability to create and manage an effective national organization.
He’s ignored by the Republican Party because not only doesn’t he not “toe the party line”, he doesn’t even pay it any lip service. That’s the problem with most conservatives and most conservative organization. We (conservatives) have the ability (and the inclination) to say “kiss my big white ass” when we disagree with the rest of our normal associations.
Paul was just too big of a freak for most of us – even the other fringe candidates think he’s a bit out there.
“Truth is treason in the empire of lies” – Ron Paul
“The Colonel” is a freak.
Fiscal solvency and a MYOB foreign policy is freaky these day Thunderbird. Settle in to the reality.

Ron Paul predicted the economic crisis in 2003. Had we listened we wouldn’t have had the horrible conditions that we’re suffering through now and that ushered in 8 years of Obama. Search “Ron Paul” “housing” “2003” for the video.
Paul must’ve known we’d put democrats in Congress in 06 and Obama in the White House in 08…
If I would have known that, I coulda told you we’d crash too…That ain’t Rocket Surgery…
Just like I can clearly predict we’re in a Heap a trouble for the next 4 years….
Rocket Surgery?
Surgery is correct. You think this knuckle dragger believes in the word science?
Now how long had Paul been a “leader?”…
Looks like Paul’s record of success is about like Obama’s. Get elected…then blame er’body else for the mess you make…
And FITS, Sanford and Paul are a lot alike, too…they can preach to er’body else how to do it. It’s easy to hear them tell it…but when you gave them the steering wheel, all they seem to do is find the nearest ditch to crash in…
Ron Paul is right.
Paul the Prophet? Amen bruddah Paul? This really is a cult, isn’t it?
I mean, damn, I do think some of what Paul “preaches” would be good for the country, but let’s tone it down a bit on the religious following shit.
Yes smirks is correct. Only secular rhetoric is allowed in the secular world this being a secular paper because You Know Who forbid that anyone make a comment with religious overtones thus offending the demigod of all SC smirks himself.
What a Jackass.

Damn, Frank, no need to get all butthurt.
He is a prophet, because he accurately predicted a lot of things that have happened in the last decade.

Glad to see one less fruitcake, and I mean a real lunatic, in the GOP.
Good riddance, Mr. Paul, and I hope your son follows you.
Right on! The son is the dangerous one!
Rand is A LOT more reasonable than his father…A Jim DeMint Republican…
We need ALL those we can get…
PS: I LOVE LOVE to see DeMint run for Pres. in 2016, or sooner if Obama is made to leave for Cheating…
DeMint reminds me of Reagan…
LOL @ the rubes that think Rand’s ideas are any different from his father’s. A sucker is born every minute!
“Demint reminds me of Reagan” Why, because he looks dead?
Jim Demint?
Reasonable?
Hahaha!
Don’t denigrate Reagan like that you ahole. Ronald Reagan would despise a person like Jim DeMint. That comparison is ludicrous.
There is no such thing as a Jim DeMint Republican, so stop making shit up.
And then I saw what is wrong with the world, I saw what destroys men and nations, and where the battle for life has to be fought. Obama is ruining us, and the oligarchy of world bankers is smother us with oppression like America has never seen on it’s soil. Ron was our last bastion of real hope and change, the hope for a rational society, and the change in the minds of all Americas back to the recognition that we are a Constitutional Republic, and not a mob-ruled Democracy. Under a Constitutional Republic, the smallest minority is the individual, and that individuals constitutional rights shall never be infringed. If we keep up the front of being a Democracy, the individual will become a vanishing species, and the madness of the mob of tribalistic morons will plunder the treasury into hyper inflationary degradation. Our money will not be worth the time it will take to burn it for warmth in this cold and darkening age of unenlightenment. If you read your history, the dark ages were an age of want, starvation, and unparalleled stagnation, and only the bravest of martyrs stuck around and kept the human race barely alive. Better prepare for the coming age of darkness as the producers in this world go on strike to leave the morons to vote themselves into intellectual bankruptcy and the proverbial grave.
“Our Constitution, which was intended to limit government power and abuse, has failed. The Founders warned that a free society depends on a virtuous and moral people. The current crisis reflects that their concerns were justified,”- Ron Paul’s Farewell Speech
When you consider, under ‘W’ Bush, the US had a 5 percent unemployment rate, a STRONG defense and a BOOMING productive economy…
It’s Liberal idiocy to believe Ron Paul, or any nutjub like him has any, or even one, answer…
Bush, trying to please Karl Rove and the liberals, spent too much…But it was not that long ago America was a lot more Pride than we can even imagine today…
T
I think you have just had a break through. I don’t think anyone here, other than total libtards (Republicrats and Demlicans alike) are saying Bushy was a bad guy (though I will say he was a libtard).
But to hear you admit that Bush spent to much is definitely a step foward for you. Now, if you can just come to the understanding that Bushy and Reagan weren’t far off, your half way there brother.
Congratulations!!

That’s about the 100th time I’ve said Bush spent too much.
But his economy had BIGTIME revenue generation because people were working.
And: Bush lloks like an anal-tight miser compared to Obama, who has also wrecked the economy…so 24 million are not working (contributing)…
If it’s not hte first time, My Sincerest Apologies. I’ve never seen it before.

Good by Capt. Crazy
Lots of blathering from the folks who dislike Dr Paul. How about y’all tell us what part of his speech you disagree with and why?
It pains me to say it, but future generations may look at George Washington’s and Ron Paul’s farewell addresses as bookends on the Republic and the American experiment..
What I don’t understand is why doesn’t Fits and all the Ron Paul folks here forthrightly declare themselves Libertarians and join the Libertarian Party?
If there are all these people out there who “agree ” with Paul, why aren’t they voting their consciences?
It seems as if the Republican Party has a message for all of you.
We appreciate your votes, but don’t expect any role in our party, besides the ability to mouth off every few years, while we steadfastly ignore you.
Good point, Sandman: FITS rose to his breif power calling himself the top lackey to a so-called REPUBLICAN…and the self-proclaimed Republican disgraced himself and the state, because he was anything BUT a servant of the people…
Nowhere in the GOP Platform is it OK for a married man to Meet Chicks or any man to Beat Chicks…
But w/ Liberatraians anything goes. If it feels good do it…and w/ them, the government has no right to do anything, except protect what the Libers are allowed to Scam (or earn) through an ordered capitalist system…
So it’s the PERFECT Party for them…and if they all quit claiming to be Republicans, maybe we could get the Conservatives to show up to vote…and we’d quit getting Moderate-Liberarians on the GOP Ticket…
I agree T and Sandy.
Very good point. The Republitards are not only uninterested in the ideals of the conservative side of its base. It wants that portion in the dish closet. When its befitting them they will pull out the conservatives to where down mainstreet for a time.
Have a Great Day!! :) There won’t be many left with Obonehead in charge. Yes I voted for Obonehead so get over it Republitard!!

Acid is GrOoVy!
Yeah, but that shit is impossible to find nowadays.
As the senior Libertarian he will be missed. His most memorable question that I recall is when he asked Alan Greenspan if he had transferred 170 tons of gold from the war reserve in Annapolis to the Deutsche Bank. After 16 minuets of hem hawing he did not receive an answer. Without that money George Bush had to borrow several trillion dollars from China and make them most favored Nation to finance 2 wars without raising taxes.
Fuck Israel. It’s the same old song throughout history. Lindsey Graham and Bobby Harrell are from Charleston, once home to the largest number of Jews from Israel. Nuff said. The non Jew motto: Get yern and don’t worry about anything else. If Lindsey votes for another war can’t he take the first bullet on the first day?
Ron Paul the prophet. Just add purple sweats and Nikes.
There are things Paul stands for I agree with such as the foreign policy of our country. There are some things, like the Fed, I disagree with him on. But, Paul is an honest man. He is not paid for by some nutty billionaire and he does not have handlers whispering in his ear telling him what to say next or writing his facebook page. Paul is an American original. We need more like him in Congress and in South Carolina government. He will be missed.
Indeed, Ron Paul makes me nostalgic for a time when the Congress and the state government were filled with people who thought for themselves, right or left, and argued honestly their points. Now, all we have is the puppets of billionaires and handlers and that is the real reason we are in such trouble. If you doubt that, try to engage your Congressman in a conversation about some issue. All you will get is as staff written letter filled with catch phrases designed to appeal to you. And, that is only if you gave him money.
All of you Ron Paul haters, take note:
Remember your words, as you may have to eat them when you have nothing else to eat.
