A NEW PARTY IS NEEDED TO PROTECT AMERICAN TAXPAYERS, FREE MARKETS AND INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES
In the wake of U.S. President Barack Obama’s reelection this week there are plenty of columns out there offering unsolicited advice as to what “Republicans” need to do in order to to reclaim their electoral relevance.
“Don’t run to the middle,” “run further to the middle,” “nominate a minority,” “don’t talk about abortion,” “collaborate with the Democrats …” etc., etc., ad infinitum.
The advice is pouring in from all corners as America’s new perpetual minority party contemplates yet another rebranding. And the mainstream press is eating it up, too. In fact this week we saw a Facebook post from our old friend Aaron Gould Sheinin – a reporter with the Atlanta Journal Constitution – seeking comment from GOP operatives regarding their thoughts on “the party’s path forward.”
Naturally we’ve read all of these exercises in hand-wringing and blame-shifting before – and we’ve heard all of this advice before. In fact in years past we’ve actually written a few columns instructing Republicans on steps they could take to improve their electoral prospects.
“Having forsaken the lower tax, limited government ideals they were sent to Washington to defend, Republicans all across the nation are facing some serious time in the wilderness,” we wrote in 2008, adding that GOP voters should insist on nominating “candidates with a proven track record of protecting the taxpayers’ best interests.”
Clearly that advice went unheeded … again.
Rather than focusing on specific policies – and laying out the practical benefits of those policies to all classes – Republicans have gone on a spree of rhetorical self-labeling even as their positions in many cases have mirrored those put forward by Democrats. And while they’ve affixed the “conservative” label and in some cases the “Tea Party” label alongside the “R” next to their names, they haven’t changed their reckless fiscal ways. In fact “Republican” congressional leaders like John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Mitch McConnell – and GOP governors like Nikki Haley – continue to support massive spending increases even as they lecture Democrats regarding the virtue of “limited government.”
And don’t even get us started on “Republicans” like U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham … who had the audacity to suggest that the uber-accommodative Mitt Romney actually ran too far to the right in 2012.
Really? Last time we checked Romney sprinted to the left faster than you could say “Carl Lewis.”
And ironically, what a shock that one of the first warning shots of the newly empowered Obama administration was to signal that it will push for a new tax on carbon emissions – a longtime priority of the liberal South Carolina Senator who is known in his home state as the “third Senator from New York.”
As a result of this ideological bankruptcy, “Republicans” have now lost five of the last six presidential popular votes – and with the exception of a Tea Party-fueled run in 2010 they’ve fared poorly in recent Congressional races. Their prospects look bleak for the future, too … as a media-fueled class warfare narrative continues to gleefully gloss over the fact that there’s simply not all that much to distinguish “Republicans” from the Democrats they are running against.
So … what’s a party to do?
Well, the analogy that keeps coming to our minds is from the 1996 blockbuster movie Independence Day …
That’s right, “Republicans.”
Your party needs to “die.”
In fact it’s past time that the GOP’s lily white cadre of dark-suited, red-tied, two-faced, big-spending, liberty-depriving, imperialistic, crony capitalistic, currency manipulating, morally sanctimonious, special interest suckling politwhores went away for good .. and let people who actually stand for the things they claim to stand for take a crack at this.
If for no other reason that it’s painfully clear that Republicans are never going to win another national election at this rate …
While our government-run schools have done their best to dumb us down, we firmly believe America has not (yet) lost the capacity for rational thought. And while our government-run welfare state has done its best to incentivize dependency and penalize the creation of wealth, we firmly believe that America has not (yet) lost the capacity to create and innovate.
There remain people in this country – millions of them – who agree with those sentiments, people who believe very simply that government should mind its money, perform a few key functions and otherwise stay the fuck out of our lives. People who work hard – and who are sick of seeing their paychecks shrink, their dollars debased and their children saddled with another trillion in debt each year. These fiscally conservative, socially libertarian Americans have been betrayed by both parties – and by a mainstream media that continues to shove a false “Red v. Blue” dichotomy down their throats.
It’s time we gave these Americans – many of whom didn’t vote this go-round (or voted for Romney purely out of fear) – a party that they can belong to.
In fact there’s nothing at the local, state and federal level that would do more to improve live for all classes of Americans.

Republicans don’t have to “do” anything. The trigger for action is a re-aligning event. I don’t know what it will be – we won’t know until it happens. But given time, realingments change the landscape.
The GOP must change or die.
Its demographics are old white rural small town people who go to church.
It has no appeal to the immigrant, the gay person, women who want contraception, the disabled person, the union worker, the young person.
Obama’s re-election means there has been a re-alignment and it is NOT in favor of the GOP.
I used to be a Republican but I grew to hate the intolerance, and insularity of the Republicans. It is not just about taxes. It is not just about businesses and regulation. It is also about people who need government from time to time. It is about government as a safety net.
Where is your compassionate conservatism? Where are the Thousand Points of Light seniro Bush talked about.
No, instead, you have been taken over by right-wing lunatics and fringe crazies.
You can have government and private capital and businnesses humming at the same time.
Those who remain bitter and arrogant after the stunning losses of the GOP two days will be the army that destroys the GOP once and for all. You will die from within.
GOP,stop being so mean and hateful to the little people, the average guy, the people who actually bust their asses working for pay in this great country of ours.
I second that motion.
Many years ago I was a hard core ocnservative Republican. Over time I came to realize all the party stood for was lowering taxes for the wealthy, at the expense of everyone else. That’s why Romney pays in the low teens in income taxes, despite having more money than God. And that is only on the money we KNOW about, which is probably less than half of it.
Of course, Teapublicans will yell ‘class warfare’, but yet fail to explain why being successful(which NO one has a problem with), is an excuse to be free of the responsibility to pay taxes.
The fact is their has been a class war underway for some time. The wealthy pay off the politicos to change the tax laws to their favor, while gutting the social safety net.
Right on!
Thanks for the very accurate, clear & concise post ceilidh10. I’d like to have at least two parties to choose from when I go to the polls but lately, there’s just not been a choice from the Republicans. If they can’t offer us a good candidate then maybe their time is up and another party can emerge. But that’s sad because the GOP was once a great party with American ideals.
Dear ceilidh10 …the word is SCENARIO, spelled S-C-E-N-A-R-I-O, as in The Thousand Points of light “scenario”
right on with the fringe crazy they have and will continue to kill the party along with the abortion issue. These are just 2 of the major problems my party has.
amen
I fully agree. A new party only splits the vote further. One thing the Democrats do right is stick together after they do battle. The Republicans continue to publicly do battle when the war is over and continue their whining forever. I truly believe that the time for this re-aligning event is coming soon. Will it be a financial disaster (which is going to happen soon anyway) or will it be more closely associated with another “revolution?” Don’t know but it will be something. When the Chinese stop loaning us money (very soon as their economy is slipping) and Obama cannot print any more (out of control inflation), his supporters who don’t work and don’t pay into the system will turn on him. I would start stockpiling food, water and protection because this country is now in an unstoppable slide into a third world country (which is Obama’s main goal). I am not a far right anything but just a moderate Republican that understands that we do have social obligations to maintain along with our obligation to be fiscally responsible. I am afraid for my Country and want it back!
Once you begin stockpiling, you are labeled a terrorist, just so you understand.
Headline has it right. Just Die. Say What almost has it right. The GOP is splitting the vote for the conservative demlicans and the Libertarian Party. Libertarians (Read Jeffersonian) are the only true conservatives on the planet.
Have a Great Day!! :)

Republicans Consider Welcoming People Who Believe in Math and Science
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Opting for a bold “big tent” strategy to rebuild the party, Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, told reporters today, “We need to welcome people who believe in different things than we do, like math and science.”
After disappointing results in Tuesday’s election, Mr. Priebus said that it was time for Republicans to become “more tolerant of those with a math-and-science lifestyle.”
“Just because we don’t believe in those things doesn’t mean we can’t get along with people who do,” he said. “We want to send this message: math and science Americans are Americans, too.”
In the biggest departure from its previous electoral strategy, Mr. Priebus said, the Republican Party is “even considering trying to appeal to women.”
“I read recently that women are as much as fifty-one per cent of the population,” he said. “That number sounded crazy high to me, but maybe one of our new math Republicans can check on it for us.”
I believe in lasers in your face.

When you do something stupid and end up fucking yourself big-time, you need to change. Like the alcoholic with his 3rd DUI. Or the drug addict who destroys his career and family life.
The GOP smashed a car at high speed into a brick wall with liberal mitt at the wheel, with the creepy Catholic running mate at this side–the one who looks like that kid from the TV show The Addams Family.
America does nto want the GOP or its barnd of ruling. Or Anne Coulter. Or Sarah Palin. or the rest of the Freak Circus on the right.
When you screw yourself over, or have a train wreck, or get kicked in the ass bigtime, or wreck your car, or have abreakdown, you get advice from friends and loved ones, you seek medical or psychiatric help, you go to a rehab center, you get fixed at the hospital, maybe you get surgery, but you do whatever it takes to get you and your good name, your brand, back to normal.
GOP, try normalcy for a chance. The GOP and this love for the GOP we see in SC is not the wave of the future, it is not a trend, it is an outlier, it is the exception to the rule, it is not the norm
It is NOT always 100% about the 1. government 2. taxes 3. small businesses.
There is a lot more to America than these 3 things. Yes they are important but PEOPLE COME FIRST. Start being nice to people especially those who do not have as much as you. It’s called being a Christian. Being nice. Being kind. Extending a hand.
Governor Jim Edawrds could not get elected by the GOP in this climtae. Jerry Ford could not be President in this climate. Nixon would not have been elected given the posture of today’s GOP.
The GOP needs deep soul-searching. It needs an operation. It needs surgery.
I told you folks last spring and summe rin my postings that the GOP’s inability to show tolerance and concern for its fellow Americans would be its downfall in November.
I predicted 1964 Redux. I remember Barry Goldwater. I remember the bitter anguish of his defeat. I remember how the GOP went into hiding afterwards.
This is 1964 Redux.
Actually, Paul Ryan looks like Eddie Munster, not anyone from the Addams Family, which is Romney, who resembles Lurch.
You’re both wrong. Paul Ryan looks like Quagmire, hands down.
Cousin It or Pugslee
Interesting that no one’s willing to make fun of Obama’s looks…
Carol Cambell wouldnt get elected or voted for by the very people who claim to emulate and respect him..
Yet there are just enough fringe repubs to keep the party going down its current path. These people believe they are doing the work of the Lord, and they will never compromise what they believe is their mandate from higher powers.
They are rich and we are small.
The Republican party most certainly does not need to die. The Libertarians, Tea Partiers, Neocons, religious right, and Grover Norquest ideologues need to form their own party, get out of the Republican Party and let it get back to what it was successful at doing. Representing the interests of American Business in the political arena.
Before the right wing nut jobs with their own agenda took over the Republican Party, the Party was run by industrialist, business owners, and investment bankers. Sure they were financial conservatives, but they were pragmatists. They wanted the best deal they could get for American Business. They could be reasoned with. They understood the art of negotiation. They understood give and take. They could be hard asses, but they knew when they were on the losing side and how to make the best of the situation for American Businesses.
So by all means please leave the Republican Party. Form a new party. Band together. Jump up and down and yell about how we don’t need a government, how tax cuts solve all problems, about abortion and contraception, about fake morals, and Ayn Rand; about makers v takers and how to stop the minorities from taking over. In the meantime those of us who are uninterested in all the BS noise, can get back to figuring out how we can make a country that works for its people and is profitable for its businesses.
You’re right. Abraham Lincoln would be ashamed of his party today.
Amen Jan.
“The Republican party most certainly does not need to die. The Libertarians, Tea Partiers, Neocons, religious right, and Grover Norquest ideologues need to form their own party, get out of the Republican Party and let it get back to what it was successful at doing.”
lol, that’s a pretty long hate list…but you just gave a rundown of at least 90% of what the GOP consists of…LMAO!
Why not just state you’d like controlled opposition?
Anyway, Lincoln was a tyrant. If only he really was a vampire killer the world would have been far better off and slavery dispensed with minus as many casualties.
Well if you are right the party is already dead. But I don’t think you are. I think they are a fairly large percentage, but much smaller than you ; and I think they can be replaced by center right moderates.
In this election 40+% of Americans self-identified as independents. That is more people than self-identified as Republican. So there is plenty of room for growth without even convincing self-identified Democrats to flip.
No, no, no. The Republican Party needs to double down on trying to torpedo Obamacare, and cutting off funding of Planned Parenthood, and turning Medicare into a voucher system and privatizing Social Security.
See, Romney lost because he was not conservative enough, according to Brent Bozell and the Tea Party Patriots.
This could be amusing.
Don’t forget trying to differentiate nonconsensual sex into “legitimate rape” and not-rape, characterizing fetuses conceived by forcible rape as “gifts from God,” insisting that fundamentalist Xtianity is the only valid religion, persecuting non-Christian religions, denying the reality of global warming and evolution by natural selection, and demonizing minorities and non-English speakers! This will ensure not only the death of the COP, but its death by its own hand.
Excellant article. The only way to limit government is to strangle it by cutting off the money. I fail to understand why people continue to vote taxes on themselves. Unless, of course these voters don’t pay taxes. This whole government is dysfunctional, it’s like taking a cotton picker and trying to harvest corn.
All said , a small percentage of us will continue to suipport a whole segement of society that had the same opportunities as I did. And, before you bunch of bleeding heart liberals jump on me, I paid my way in college in the late sixties by working on a dairy farm getting up at four every morning and being back in class by eight.
“I fail to understand why people continue to vote taxes on themselves. Unless, of course these voters don’t pay taxes. ”
Huh, you asked and answered your own question. Go figure.
“All said , a small percentage of us will continue to support a whole segment of society that had the same opportunities as I did.”
What percentage of society do you propose is supporting another segment of society? What segment of society are you speaking of? What percentage of the population is the segment of society you are supporting. How are you supporting them? What opportunities did you have that the segment you are supporting has? Does government do anything for you that does not benefit me?
I paid my way in college in the late sixties by working on a dairy farm getting up at four every morning and being back in class by eight.
And that was in the ’60s. My dad went to college working at various fast food restaurants for minimum wage and was able to afford college.
That, of course, is no longer possible without student loans, not unless you limit yourself to a technical or community college.
The last year in which a full time student could realistically work his way through college (tuition, books, room board, etc) was 1978.
I worked in a plant and paid my on way through in the nineties. Not one Fucking student loan!
To comment on another post yes the Libertairan wing should distance its self from the dieing GOP, allow some safty nets for comman people on its platform, focus on civil liberties, end the Fed, keep its noninterventilist foreign policy, and give Is-re-hell the middle finger. We can say fuck the wings and grab that motherfucker by the beak!
“That, of course, is no longer possible without student loans, not unless you limit yourself to a technical or community college.”
Smart kids who are short on cash will do two years of community college, then transfer. Community colleges tend to offer far more schedule flexibility for people working their way through.
But there are big questions here. Did schools suddenly become more expensive, so loans began expanding, or did schools decide there was so much money available through loans that they decided to soak up as much as they could? What is driving the rising cost?
I was in college in Florida in 1978 and worked myself through with two part-time jobs. And I still had enough money to see the Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and .38 Special every month.
Simple solution: Get rid of all the Right Wing Religious Racist Bigots in the party platforms and candidates. Albert Watson warned the GOP decades ago that they were taking over and destroying the Republican Party. He was exactly right. I voted for Obama, TWICE, and I’m a Republican who has been forced into becoming an Independent. Because of all these ridiculously uneducated and UN-American positions of my GOP Party. Wake-up! The Out of State Criminals and religious Wack-O’s have hijacked the GOP and driven all the lemming rats over the Right Wing Cliff! The GOP needs to get its head out of the sand, and other dark places, and get straight with the rest of America. Or, it will continue to become an irrelevant political party everywhere except in the dumbest, poorest, and stupidest parts of the South.
You talking about Albert Watson the segregationist? Did he have some sort of change in heart in his later years, or just a deep love of irony?
Get rid of that Family.
For my money, the Republican Party can and should die. Look at the virtual shit they have run for President beginning with Daddy Bush and continuing since then. They created a trailer trash icon with Sarah Palin who just won’t STFU and go away. They pushed the only candidate who might have really tried to fix our economy because he cares about us and the economy to the back of the stove during the debates. The Republican Party of SC has become synonymous with corruption and self serving with people like Bobby Harrell and the Lexington Ring.
Please, let the GOP die.
There is a typo in the last line – “..to improve liFe for..”
It’s pretty obvious now that the Republican party is so polarized and intolerant — thanks to redistricting, xenophobia, and special interests — that it’s becoming irrelevant.
NPR this morning reported that by 2020 one third of all voters will be in their 20s or early 30s, and that this group is either “independent” or “democrat-leaning” — certainly not “republican.” And that the “republican brand” must garner a larger portion of a “shrinking population.” Sounds like selling peanut butter in the grocery store, but I get the message.
In 2016 the republicans will repeat their 2012 primary antics: seeing who can out-do the other guy in appealing to the far right. This will alienate even more voters. I think it’s funny. Off the cliff they go, like lemmings.
The only thing I liked about Mitt Romney was his wife’s legs and cute smile. He can go back to clipping coupons at his estate in Belmont, La Jolla or Park City.
The only way to kill a zombie is to cut off its head. Asking it to die is asking for an impossibility.
And the post-mortem will go on – and on – and on.
Rush Limbaugh,Ann Coulter,Grover Norquist,Sarah Palin,Glenn Beck,Karl Rove,Donald Trump, etc, etc….These are the spokespersons for the Republican Party…..What the hell did you expect to happen?….All of these idiots together make up the “Cookoo’s Nest”……That being said,it’s never a good thing to stir up a “woman’s nest”….we pack a powerful sting.
Republicans need to stay on track with what earned them defeat. Had they unleashed the fact that “women only orgasm when raped by men dressed as priest” then Mittens would carried Missouri and Texas by even greater margins.
The Republican Party will continue to falter until they embrace personal freedom and liberty. Freedom and Liberty for ALL….. not just for the person they see in the mirror.
Why is it that every time one party suffers a defeat, it is declared dying or dead? Yes, Tuesday was bad for Republicans, but it was only two years removed from a tremendous upswing. And the party did better at the top of the ticket than it did four years ago.
The timing is not so great, as the economy is likely to get better, and Barry will likely get credited for it, whether deserved or not. That may mean a tremendous advantage for whoever is the Dem nominee in 2016, but it is unlikely he or she will get the same motivated turnout from the black community. Of course, if the economy is still struggling in four years, I seriously doubt you’ll see a Dem in the White House.
Ever since Clinton was elected, control of Congress has been swinging back and forth. We had eight years of a Dem Pres, followed by eight years of a Repub, and now eight years of a Dem. Dems dominated national politics for a few decades, and back then the Repub Party was concidered “dead.” I’d hardly call it dead now, when it still controlls half of Congress. If they lose control of the House in 2014, it still won’t mean much. You need a few cycles of horrible results for there to be real meaning from the elections.
Perhaps some shifting within the party is necessary, but Tuesday’s result is not necessarily a good reason to push for a complete overhaul.
Good gawd Sid is back!!
Hey you self-proclaimed genius……Are you going to own up to the bad predictions you made? You know, the state of Michigan in particular, the election outcome in general? Then there is climate change,…..
Why should we listen to you anymore? Your credibility is only slightly higher than BigT’s right now.
Hey Sid a republican has failed to get over 50% of the popular vote in the last 5 of 6 presidential elections…..
And a Dem has failed to get over 50% in the last 4 of 6. What’s your point?
Hell, Barry is the first Dem to get over 50% since Jimmy Carter. Again, what’s your point?
And Bush got more votes for his second term than Barry did for his. Not that that means anything, but I thought it was interesting.
If the Republican Party had its shit together Ross Perot would not have split the vote in 92 & 96. That’s my point. The tea baggers are doing it today.
And since that time, the Repubs won the White House twice, and the control of Congress has swung back and forth. I guess they got their “shit together” in ’00 and ’04, while the Dems did not?
The folks you seem to hate are the ones widely credited with helping the Repubs take the House two years ago by historic proportions. Two years ago. Again, what’s your point?
Politics tends to be rather cyclical. Right now, the Dems are up. Will they be two years from now, or four? I guess we’ll see. They certainly were not two years ago.
And tea baggers have cost them how many senate seats?
And how many House and Senate seats were gained in ’10? Again, it’s all cyclical. Trying to draw some far-reaching conclusion based on one election cycle is silly. If you look at ’10, you could have argued the Dem party was dead. It was not, nor is the Repub party dead after Tuesday.
I think it was Newt Gingrich who said if the Republicans lose this one it may take a generation to get back the white house. I think he might be right.
He may have said that, but I don’t buy it. If the economy stays bad, Dems better find another Barry to run, because Biden ain’t the one, and Hillary is aging rapidly. Even if it improves, they’ll need someone that will excite the youth and the blacks like Barry. I’m just not sure they have anyone who does that. We’ll see what the Repubs have to offer, but there are a few that could get folks excited.
I’m not saying that the Repubs will definitely be right back in the hunt in 2016, but I just don’t see the doom and gloom that others do. Then again, if the Dems can find somoene more conservative than they’ve had recently, I could see supporting a Dem. Way too many variables at play to say anything with any certainty about the next cycle.
“Dems better find another Barry to run, because Biden ain’t the one, and Hillary is aging rapidly”
Well, McCain was 72 and you guys seemed fine with that,…but I bet you’re just being sexist. Another problem Republicans have.
What about climate change? It changes. Nobody disputes that.
As for the elections, yup, I was off. I don’t think I guaranteed anything, though. I merely offered what outcome I thought would happen. I thought Michigan would go red. It did not. I was convinced VA, FL, and CO would go red. Again, I was off. I was correct about NC, but that one was relatively easy.
Fortunately, for what I do, I could not be happier about the election outcome. Personally, I don’t like it, and I think it will be bad for the country, although I hope I’m off on that, too. But professionally, things went really well for me, so I bought plenty of rounds on Tuesday night. Yay for me!
Sorry, that was for further up, in response to Carl.
As for Hillary, you can call it sexist, but I call it being realistic. It is a generally accepted idea that men are considered to age better than women. That’s obviously not 100%, but older women whose looks go don’t always get the same respect as older men who have the same issue. Her looks are fading rapidly, and in four years, they may be an issue. Then there’s the whole Libya thing, which may still bite her.
Nonetheless, she’s not going to energize blacks, and I doubt she’ll energize youth, other than, perhaps, young women.
The Republican Party has been fractured for a long time. Until it figures out what the fuck it stands for it will have a hard time getting back into the Whitehoue….
Again, they held it for two terms before Barry. If they have been so fractured for so long, explain that. Then explain why they took control of the House with historic numbers a mere two years ago?
Many within the Republican Party are merely remaining true to their traditional political beliefs… whether others like these beliefs or not. Unfortunately, their base’s population – while likely growing somewhat – is being utterly outbred and “out-immigrated” by the political opposition. Thus, noting this, do they really have a problem with their political views other than they apparently don’t screw and reproduce enough relative to their opposition?! Sure, if they want to remain politically relevant to their opposition, they certainly do. However, I can think of far worse things than losing political relevance. And, as for me personally, I’d rather remain true to my convictions and beliefs than be politically relevant to my political opposition anyday… after all, don’t WE ALL KNOW that politicians are simply crooked and corrupt dipsh!ts. So, what I would suggest is that those dishearted Republicans forget this political treadmill nonsense – so yes, be prepared to die somewhat politically – and look inward for the solutions that best answer the important questions for their families/friends. (And sure, a little more screwing/reproducing wouldn’t hurt either!!) Yeah, you’ll have to pay the “theft taxes” to the unproductive of the nation – not unlike those good & hard working folks who have to pay for their kids to attend an excellent private school while also keeping up the dumba$$ and inferior public school system – however; once you’ve paid this, you’ll be free to take the remaining dollars and solely invest in your own communities in order to make these communities the finest in the world.
“Many within the Republican Party are merely remaining true to their traditional political beliefs”…. I think I can hear Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan turning in their graves……….
Sid you credit the tea baggers for “conservatives” gaining control of the house in 2010. After TARP, Obamacare, the stimulus, and a liberal from San Francisco as speaker of the house that was only possible way for the Republicans to gain the house back? You don’t believe that if they held true Republican ideals that they would have gain the house back?
Oh, you mean for giving Goldwater and Reagan credit for being the “traditional” views of this CURRENT generation of Republicans? Uh, who do you think I’m referring to when I say traditional political beliefs?… the KKK, the Dixiecrat Party, George Wallace?…. they weren’t Repubilicans. Thus, your point seems to somehow strangely claim the above gentlemen for your own, presumably, Democratic party. Look, my point is simple, Republicans should remain true to their convictions regardless of whether it costs them in elections, because over time, many new immigrants will begin to respect them for their limited government, fiscal repsonsibility, American dream views as they become more affluent and remember why they wanted to come to the US in the first place. Hispanics and Asians are just not the long term constituency of Democrats. Thus, Republicans need to always be nice/respectful to all, not dispair, and to remember that the future will catch up with them. And, if I’m wrong and it doesn’t, so what? You will have still lived the right way and have taken care of youselves, albeit it, non-politically.
You forgot to mention women. According to you argument they are taking over the populace…..
“limited government, fiscal repsonsibility”….?..since when….. ? They only get religion on fiscal responsibility when a Democrat occupies the White House. When was the last time a Republican president even entertained the idea of a balanced budget? Goldwater and Reagan weren’t mired in social issues….The current Republican Party wants the federal government to control what people do in their bedrooms and make everyone purchase something so they can exercise their most basic constitutional right. That’s limited government?
Junga, just two things before I go: GWB isn’t one that I’d ever claim and two, your side won, deal with it correctly. Impelement your policies boldly and be happy about it. That I won’t care what your side does, and that I’ll now (correctly) look more inward for my family’s/friend’s solutions, really shouldn’t bother you or your side one bit. Again, you guys won, party on!
GWB………? The last Republican to balance the budget was Eisenhower in 1957….
1957…That’s it! The Rebublican Party thinks it’s 1957! …problem is: my vagina doesn’t go backwards. Seriously, people like Akin on a science committee? And you far right guys are wondering what he fuck happened?
Some how a lot of folks believe “fiscal responsibly”=”cutting taxes”. Until they realize they’re not mutually exclusive they will never figure it out.
The GOP might not be dead yet, but it could sure use Mediciad…
“Uh, who do you think I’m referring to when I say traditional political beliefs?… the KKK, the Dixiecrat Party, George Wallace?…. they weren’t Repubilicans.”
They BECAME Republicans after the Dems moved Left. Their descendants are the GOP base.
The GOP welcomed in Tilman’s empowered army of poor white trash, simply for their votes, but that activist army of angry whites has now taken over the GOP.
Be careful of who you let in the door . . . or give the key to . . . or marry.
The GOP as it currently stands is dominated by Neocon thought in the tradition of Leo Strauss.
Get rid of FoxNews while you’re at it.
The fact is most people realize that most Republicans are self interested assholes and that Fox News panders lies. You don’t need to destroy the Republican party, just quit being lying, self-centered assholes.
*The fact is most people realize that most Republicans are self interested assholes*
Ahhhh….and the Democratic ones are not? lol….sure
