BARACK OBAMA PROMISES “BOLD, PERSISTENT EXPERIMENTATION” IN HIS SECOND TERM AS PRESIDENT
U.S. President Barack Obama has a plan for the American economy during his second term in office … and would you believe it’s more of the same command economic intervention that we saw during his first term?
In addressing the ongoing economic malaise facing our nation, Obama offered up a prescription that is likely to send chills up and down the spine of any free market fiscal conservative. Speaking of America’s challenge, Obama said …
It will require common effort, shared responsibility, and the kind of bold, persistent experimentation that Franklin Roosevelt pursued during the only crisis worse than this one.
Bold, persistent experimentation?
Yikes! So what will this ass raping of the free market entail?
Well, Obama is already hinting that he’s going to mount a renewed push for a “carbon tax hike” – one of the few radical leftist notions that he wasn’t able to shove down the throat of a Democratic Congress during his first two years in office. This tax hike, incidentally, has already been supported by liberal S.C. Sen. Lindsey Graham (RINO-SC).
Grab your socks and hose and pull, America … the next four years is gonna hurt.
Of course those of you thinking that a Mitt Romney administration would have opposed such a tax hike should probably think again. After all, as governor of Massachusetts Romney supported taxing carbon as “an effective approach” to dealing with climate change.
That’s one of many positions that he “flipped” on during his extended quest for the White House.

Boehner has already capitulated on higher taxes as well.
They can’t tax and cut enough to balance the budget.
We will get a first hand look at the what side of the Laffer curve we lie on…and I’ve a feeling it’s not going to be pretty.
Reduced collection, capital flight, austerity, bond failure, then rising interest rates will bring on the final collapse.
I wonder how much time it will take to unfold.
1 year tops
I know you’re just shooting off the cuff Frank, but we have to keep in mind that Japan is holding it together @ 200% of their GDP…sure…there’s lots of misery as a result, but still.
If the US wanted to try to do the same via interest rate supression without money printing it could do so like Japan by forcing(or “encouraging”) savings into the banks via tax code….I think there’s a chance they could sustain Japan-like misery for quite some time if they do that.
Of course, it’s uncharted waters in the big picture…anyone who really knew what/when/where/how would be very rich as a result.
I understand your point, but disagree. We are no longer savers. Our government has already taken that away from us via Social Security and the whole Robin Hood mentality. There is also the work ethic to consider (US vs Japan, anyone really). With the unemployment rate hovering around 45%, there are just too few workers to support forced savings (bonds, whatever) as a means of taxation. To do so would cripple our economy.
For the last 45 years our economy has been based on consumerism. You could simply and easily cripple our economy first thing tomm. morning. End Welfare and there’s no one to buy cell phones, TV’s, Internet, New Cars, ad infinitum.
To make the wealthy (read workers) buy enough to support that kind of spending, you would have to inflate the price of goods and services by at least 350%.
Also, I think that the public attitude in Japan, China, Russia is still based in the tried and true. Work hard, Save your earnings, bequeath to your family. That is just not the case here.
Have a Great Day!! :) There’s not to many left wih Oshitforbrains in charge

*I understand your point, but disagree. We are no longer savers.*

We arent substantially far off from each other, but I have to give you some potentially bad news:
There is a big pot of money out there that the pols whisper about now and then that is available and makes your first statement suspect- 401Ks
Dont make the mistake of thinking they are *untouchable*, they are not. As govt gets more desperate it will start grabbing for anything/everything.
There is enough money in the nations 401k pool to do just like Japan and prolong the misery for some time…regardless of work ethic/productivity issues.
Also, I am not sure where you get 45% unemployment, I would be interested in a link…as even Shawdowstats is saying around 25%.
Common John (You really gotta get a name);
You really think that in our current political climate the population, the working population, is going to stand for the creation of SSA 2.0. I can’t buy that.
Here’s my numbers. Probably going to be a mess but you should be able to figure it out. My numbers are based on total population (you ask the divorce court judge and they will gladly tell you tough shit, kids gotta eat to.). My guess is your quote is based on only Over 18. Here ya go bro.
Prison Population 2266800 Bureau of Justice
Total over 65 (likely retired) 41441724
Welfare (over 50% of income) 5297062.589 HHS
Total Disabled under 65 13991000 SSA dot gov
Sub Total 62996586.59
Total Population 311591917
Total Population Over 18 237744632.7 quickfacts dot census dot gov
Sub Total Carried 62996586.59
Available to work 174748046.1
Percentage over 18 26.50%
Percentage of total population 43.92%
I calc total population, not as an effort to say we should have all of our children working like indian/taiwanese/whatevereses slave labor camps (JAN, DO YOU HEAR ME JAN?????). The numbers are included because they eat. They consume and they don’t produce.
Now John, shall we start talking about how much government employees ‘produce’? Clearly they do not produce a product. Excluding children from these calcs and including gubmint empleados in the numbers would produce the Total Productive Workforce. You’ld come out with about the same numbers.
Good Luck with SSA 2.0. :)

It’s the use of the word “unemployed” that I guess makes it confusing. I see your #’s and will think about them a bit. Usually “unemployed” assumes a set of metrics that are obviously different, the big one being “able and ready” to work but still not employed(or fully) which obviously would have a large impact on your numbers.
Shadowstats uses the older gov’t metrics for calculating such before they tried to substantially mislead the public.
Anyway, maybe a better metric to use for what you are trying to say is percentage of the population in the US that are “net taxpayers”.
It’s obviously very low and it’s pure insanity to let them vote how to spend(and how much to take of) all the net contributors money.
edit: “pure insanity to let THOSE THAT AREN’T NET TAXPAYERS vote”
Also, if enough people complain about my lack of a name I might consider changing it to “Ron Swanson” if there’s enough clamor for it.
Ron works for me. HAGD!! :)
Frank Pytel
Hey, sure. Suppress the senior citizen vote, minimum wage workers, disabled, etc. Why don’t we just go back to only letting white males with 500 acres of land vote.
More stim money and more green scams. Taxes going up and more EPA clamp downs.
I told you MF’rs. Can you say TARP 12 and QE 500 (Before the end of the first year of the second term).

You other brothers can’t deny
That when a dollar or a dime walk in
And I see a boondoggle in my face
I get sprung
Wanna pull up tough
Cuz you notice that bill was stuffed
Deep down inside I’m caring
But I’m hooked on pork and sharing
Money. I wanna get with ya
And take you shoppin’
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that debt you got
Make Me so horney
Ooh, pile of new dough
You say you wanna go
Well use me use me you big ol money spending ‘ho
Racists ass holes
You think Obummer is showing us how big the joint was in that picture?
A few differences. FDR won 42 states, 472 electoral votes, and 57.4% (22,821,277 votes) of the popular vote, whereas Barry won 25 states, 305 electoral votes (so far), and 50.4% (60,743,181 votes) of the popular vote. FDR had a mandate; Barry does not. FDR also had full control of Congress; Barry does not. One particularly scary difference is that Barry is unbridled by concerns of relection; FDR was not.
Sorry, 303 – not 305 – electoral votes.
Obama very very likely won Florida. Better add 29 electoral votes to that.
If that occurs, it’s still not a mandate. Or a landslide, as some are giddily claiming.

You’ve insulted and name-called about everyone who comments here. You talked your shit up to the election and now you’re imploding. I’m really enjoying your comments, T. I think everyone else is too. You don’t know when to shut-up. Keep on making a fool of yourself.
Big T a couple of points,
First, I know those right wing web sites and blogs are not very specific, so let me explain this to you. If you are hiding your wealth, you don’t tell people you are hiding your wealth. If they know you have wealth, its not hidden. Stealth, stealth.
Next, if you are a party that wants to be the I told you so party, you don’t try to make things worse. You go along with the other side, and if it doesn’t work you say, “I told you so.” If you try to make things worse, then you can’t say I told you so. Remember that’s what the Republicans did for the last four years, they tried to make things worse so they could blame it on Obama, but the electorate saw through that. Again, stealth stealth. Do these things quietly without talking.
If he ‘ain’t your D@&* your president’, you might want to think more seriously about “self-deporting” your unpatriotic ass outta here. “Delta is ready when you are.”
Jan, your “Remember that’s what the Republicans did for the last four years, they tried to make things worse so they could blame it on Obama, but the electorate saw through that” is total BS.
But nice try, anyway.
Obama made things worse with no help from Republicans.
Hey, and now there are loads of small and large companies that are having to lay people off because things are looking even worse since Obama and Reid are conspiring for at least another two years!
I bet you’re very excited about that.
Perhaps you can share with us if you know of someone who just got their pink slip. They’ll have a nice, fun Thanksgiving and Christmas out there looking for work, right?

Ah, let the hysterics begin.
Carbon tax has zero chance of making it through the Senate. It’s an idiotic canard and almost embarrassing that it’s being trotted out by fits.
Listen, ladies, we got in this giant hole by cutting taxes, raising military, discretionary and entitlement spending spending (an unfunded entitlement, Medicare-D and the boomers moving into the system) and about third from dredging tax receipts. Guess what we’ll have to raise taxes and cut all government spending to get back out of that hole.
Unless you guys have another plan? Presumably it’s like Mitt’s secret plan that involved no pain.
Clinton and Republicans did it.
It can be done again if you hysterical, conspiracy nuts will get off the Fox News crack pipe and sober up.
Where is the Like button. Oops wrong web site.
Really, you guys gotta stop. It’s “unsolvable”. I’ve posted this before, but here it is again:

Ignore some of the partisan bullshit/mumbo jumbo, faith in gov’t, blah blah blah…it gives a good overview of the problem despite that.
Not only that, there are real world estimates of 220 Trillion plus being the real number based on future liabilities, the video above doesn’t even get into that.
For those of you who couldn’t get the video, take the “-nocookie” part out of it.
2007 Receipts/Outlays: $2,568/$2,729 bn (-$161 bn)
2008 Receipts/Outlays: $2,524/$2,983 bn (-$459 bn)
2009 Receipts/Outlays: $2,105/$3,518 bn (-$1,413 bn)
The deficit wasn’t just caused by increased spending (part of which was due to recovery efforts), but by lower tax revenue as well. Yes, you could cut all discretionary spending and still have a deficit, while we are in a recession, while we have massive loopholes and shelters and tax cuts for the wealthy and powerful.
Obama’s big accomplishment is health care reform. He won’t be able to push cap-and-trade or any kind of tax like that, the Republicans in the house will flat out reject it (for once, their obstructionist ways will be good).
How about some real change? Let the Bush tax cuts expire for the rich. Actually end the wars. Cut military spending. Scale back the war on drugs. Close Gitmo. End the payroll tax cap and make Social Security solvent for the next 75 years (long enough for children born right this very second to collect). Cut spending across the board. Reinstate Glass-Steagall. Break up the big banks. Pass an amendment overturning Citizens United. Destroy the Patriot Act. Destroy NDAA. Stop flying drones over our own country, let alone other ones.
That would be a good start.
I wish someone would point out to the Ass Clowns who write his teleprompter speeches for Obama that it was exactly the “…bold, persistent experimentation that Franklin Roosevelt pursued…” that extended the Depression. It was only the growing need for war material from Europe/England after Germany invaded France that the economy finally began to turn around in a real way. Many of his policies were eventually ruled unconstitutional (as Obamacare should have been).
You know as screwed up as our foreign policy has been lately maybe the president who said after his inauguration that the “…world looks at America differently…” was right. Maybe after sequestration guts the military they’ll decide we’re back to our weak kneed indwelling isolationism and China will invade India and Taiwan starting WW III and the resulting military productions will save us again…
Are you ignorant Mother-^&*(ers going to Fund Your Failure in Cheif’s Disaster after Disaster…???

Ha! What evidence do you have to support the assertion that the New Deal extended the Great Depression? What a crock of shit. Before the New Deal, unemployment sat at almost 25% and was brought down to around 10%. Yes, reduction of the unemployment by well over 50% is a failure. The mind boggles. The only uptick in unemployment was in 1937 when they drastically cut back the program because of deficits, a fact that undermines your point. This is unsubstantiated nonsense, after all, the depression persisted for years before FDR was elected. And if he was such a failure, seems like the voters wouldn’t have seen fit to reelect him over and over.
Ugh, then your next assertion is even funnier – we only came out of the depression when we nationalized huge sectors of the economy and drastically upped government spending during WWII.
Cognitive dissonance strikes again.
The Brilliant Dr. Thomas Sowell has written Extensively about this…Educate yourself, you F!*%in idiot…
I LOVE seeing you Idiots starting to worry about what your Fool (the mess made) will face….
Hahahahahaha….
Try reading book once in a while instead of just listening to your leftist historical revisionists and re-interpreters. I’d suggest you start with “The Great Depression: An International Disaster of Perverse Economic Policies”, by Tom Hall and David Ferguson
Those deficits were a result of a recession that FDR’s policies were causing.
Here’s another book for you to consider:
amazon.com/Americas-Great-Depression-Murray-Rothbard/dp/0945466056
Big T, don’t you just love the pic of our smiling President.?Place in on your desktop background.
4 more years, byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyatch.
MPH, (does that stand for Mostly Pontificates Hubris?)
You better go with the Rothard’s book, it’s an easier read but here’s a the crux of the book for you since you won’t bother with either:
“The Great Depression was not a crisis for capitalism but merely an example of the downturn part of the business cycle, which in turn was generated by government intervention in the economy”
ALL POWER TO COMRADE PRESIDENT OBAMA.
FORWARD, COMRADES!
Wonder if Obama is P!$$#* that he won…???….Now he has to go back and FACE the DISASTER he caused…
I bet he would have loved for a REAL adult like Romney to fix the mess he’s made…
Now he has NO ONE to blame…I bet he’s crappin his pants…but he’s probably too stupid to figure out what is going on…
So Romney wasn’t a REAL adult for you during the primaries? Back then he was a dirty Mormon to you. You got in the mud with the rest of the shitkickers and thought Newt was the answer.
But like the souless prick you are, after slumming with all the pathetic garbage in the primaries, you decided you where in love with the rich guy.
BigT = Hypocrite
I have a PhD in history, so you can drop the lecture on reading. Similarly, the argument about “revisionist history” strikes me as ironic considering the argument that the New Deal extended the Great Depression is largely a product of recent conservative writers like Shales that are long on hyperbole and selective stats and short on critical analysis.
As usual, you never answer the question. Hardly a surprise. In any event, you provided a link to substantiate your argument. That’s only slightly better than most freshmen that make broad unsubstantiated arguments without any proof.
And Rothbart meandered from left to right, state’s rights and eventually ended up as a libertarian. I suspect that affected his opinion on the New Deal.
PHD. Big Words (Hyperbole, OOOOOHHHHH). Nuff said.
Have a Great Day. There won’t be too many less with Oshitforbrains in charge. :)
Frank Pytel
Yeah, I stopped after the masters when I realized that I could read at least as well as the guy in the ugly sweater up front…
I teach history now (I’m like the President in that regard, I show up once in a while, teach a class and then go hang out…).
Let’s see if we can go at the proof in a simple format:
Between ’29 and ’32 we lost a net 8,000,000 jobs from 32-33 the gain was so slight as to be statistically insignificant
Between ’33 and ’37 job growth almost made up for the losses of ’29 -’32, five years to recover the losses of 3 years. A prime reason for the slow growth was the NRA, the required higher income wages etc caused business to very slowly recover and the job growth curve illustrates this.
When the NRA was ruled unconstitutional the growth curve steepens until ’37 when Roosevelt’s’ increasing antibusiness policy nearly stopped growth.
The ’37 recession was the result and 2,000,000 jobs were lost in less than a year. Those jobs would slowly be recovered from ’38-late 39 when the job growth curve basically becomes a vertical line. What happened in ‘39 to cause the sudden rocketing acceleration recovery – well you’ve got a PhD you figure it out.
That answer your question?
You also have to contend with the Nobel prize winner in Economics(specifically money and economic cycles), Hayek.
“the argument that the New Deal extended the Great Depression is largely a product of recent conservative writers like Shales”
Utter bullshit.
So I suppose if we want to color our commentary on the basis of credentials and philosophy you better come up with some more that surface level notes on Shales.
What I will LMAO over..is when these PhDs start getting their @$$#$ dumped because there is no Tax money to fund them for sitting on their lazy @$$#$ and-or pontiicating their pro-Communist Tripe to idealist young idiots, who think they are Mod for hating their Christian parents…(who paid for everything)…
Things have a way of working out. In Ameirca it takes a while because we have to burn off the prosperity….
But when our money runs out…and Obama is broke…these cheap, charlatan stupid F%^&kers will look like the FOOLS they are…
I also find it ironic that I’m accused of living in a “leftist” *sigh* echo chamber when the only non-sports related message board I read is this one.
I’m sure the Colonel, on the other hand, likes to get a broad view.
Right.
Wait wait wait. I watch sports, ergo I’m not a lib??

Frank Pytel
Yeah I do like to take a broad view when taking a first look at a new subject MPH. As I have time or interest I begin to focus the broad view or understanding to a refined or narrowed view.
But, I’ve spent enough time in the military, business and academia to have learned one thing: In any two person situation there are always three truths; my truth, your truth and THE TRUTH.
Having a “broad view” doesn’t necessarily ensure you’re right any more than having a “narrow view” necessarily ensures you’re wrong. Being closed minded is okay once you’ve done the research and ensured that the facts haven’t changed. We can argue FDR’s policies all day but the growth curves support my argument.
One last thought – on another of Will’s baits, er blogs, uhm articles, I posted a bit about successful presidents and listed FDR. He was clearly not a failure as a president (except when being over ruled by the Supreme Court that he was trying to stack and putting the brakes on a economy that if left alone could have recovered faster). My assessment that he was successful is based his ability to get his policy effectuated, not the policy itself.
I especially like the smiley face, Frank. Emoticons next?

I want mt Obama phone. I want my free education. I want my first time homebuyer credits. I want my WIC. I want my Food Stamps. I want free or discounted housing.
Oh wait, I get none of that since I decided to be responsible and have family values and not spread my legs without using protection and being ready to suffer the consequences. So, because I and many others decided to do things the right way, like get married then have children we can’t receive any of the benefits of having an unplanned pregnancy. Obama is not for the middle class or for america. Obama wants to force charitable giving on people. He wants to raise taxes on anyone who makes more than minimum wage. He has devalued having a college education.
Who is he going to blame for the bad economy and high unemployment rate during his next term? He can’t blame Bush anymore.
And by Obamaphones, I assume you are referring to the Link-Up program, created way back in 1984 during Reagan’s Administration, initially targeted at providing landlines, so poor people who can’t otherwise afford it have some connection with the world, and has been an item on your phone bill for more than two decades now. When cell phones became the norm, the program expanded to include them with carrier service as well, and the program was renamed Lifeline, since the idea was that everybody has access to the 911 emergency service at all times. That expanseion however was done back in 2008 under the Bush administration.
So do you think Bush is upset that they don’t call them Bushphones?
First time homebuyer credit, was also a Bush Era Program.
All of the other programs you mention, whether you agree with them or not have been in place long before Obama was President, and all were designed to make sure poor children do not starve.
I assume from your rant you are a typical angry white male racist, with no facts other than from Faux News and Rush. I guess today that makes you a typical Republican.
LMAO, Jan..now you’re going back to Reagan to Blame someone…
You F&*(kin idiots OWN it now. Obama is lord of the US. No Bush to blame, and you’re PRIME proof at how STUPID you look trying to blame Reagan….
Dumb@$$…you ask for it…Now cram it up your Stupid, @$$….
Big(o)T can’t accept that Lifeline started in 1985 and was expanded to cover cellular services in 2005 and added TracFone in 2008.
I mean, it isn’t like Reagan was president in 1985, nor was Dubya in 2005/2008, right? Ha! Those dumbasses blaming presidents for things that happened during their term instead of blaming it on the guy currently in office that you don’t like!
The truly obscene thing about Obama Phones and that goof ball Obama supporter video is that Republicans got her that damn phone but she supports the Democrat.
One day they’re going to figure the whole racket out…
Guys,
Smirks educated me on the whole Obamaphone deal as I was mearly a victim of casual headlining scanning via Drudge, but let’s not take this whole thing too far.
The nation has a whole class of entitled people that are net tax takers, naturally this has significant impact on the democratic process. People vote their interests, period. This class of people has grown in terms of percentage/per capita. Early in the nations history the qualifications for voting included “property owners”, which naturally suggestion next tax payers to try to avoid this dilemma we now face. (along with white males, but I’m not defending that)
The whole “Obama phone” deal, like most media propoganda(from both sides of the political spectrum btw) was a simple sound bite that represents the larger problem I outlined above, even if some of the details surrounding the concept are inaccurate or not representitive of Obama policy the overall concept is still an issue.
So yes, the “Obama phone” concept is flawed and has inaccurcies-none the less the overall suggestion made by it remains mostly valid-EVEN IF IT WAS A REPUBLICAN PROGRAM-the problem is the same. Lots of people like free stuff, no matter who is giving it to them or sometimes how it was obtained.
This simple axiom has infected the nation to a degree that is undeniable, regardless of the inaccuracies surrounding the whole “obama phone” crap.
edit: “naturally suggests net taxpayers”
Jan, you’re really SCBlues, right?
I thought so.
You give yourself away by always pulling out the race card.
Newsflash: there aren’t enough people who didn’t vote for Obama because of his race for you to be constantly haranging everyone you disagree with on that basis.
Obama is detested because of his Alinsky-ite views and corrupt Chicago thug political ways.
Forget the race thing. That’s way fewer people than you think, you knee-jerk bonehead.
But like Frank says, have a great day.
And it’s nice to see you… even if you’re wearing a mask.
I’m not blaming anyone, for anything. The programs are what they are and were started when they were started. I am just showing how stupid you guys are. You are too lazy to take 5 seconds to investigate anything for yourselves. You just absorb and regurgitate Faux News, Rush, Drudge, the list goes on and on. You are either dumb or just lying.
I’ll give each of you the benefit of the doubt and suspect you are just lazy and dumb.
Jan: The hand-out/welfare check goobblers, lazy, Stupid-@$$ and Racists are your base…
Blaming Bush and Reagan ain’t gone changed that…
The good part: Your F&*&in god-Obama promised these Stupid Son of a B!&c#$ the world, but he’s CRASHED the economy…and he’s too Ignorant to know that w/ so many people out of work (thanks to his STUPID @$$) there is no tax revenue to buy Obama-Phones, Welfare Checks, and free Doctors….
Bush and Reagan had GREAT economies…so they could pay for the Worhless Pieces of $#!* who put your god in office…’
Obama is such a F^&Kin Failure…the Imbeciles standing there w/ their Greedy hands out…will be $#!t out of luck when the economy goes off the cliff (Jan. 2013)…
And Good for you Ignorant Son of B!t*hes…you’ get what you DESERVE…
Blaming Bush and Reagan ain’t gone changed that…
Psst! They did change that! Reagan gave the “hand-out/welfare check goobblers, lazy, Stupid-@$$ and Racists” free land line services, and Dubya gave them cell phones!
You should invest in a calendar. ;)
Then why did that Ignorant, illiterate, democrat-voting, gimme-gimme B!^*h hate a Republican so much…you Dumb@$$ Dirtbag????
Are all of your Voters that D@*n STUPID???..don’t answer…I already know…
Since when is having a cell phone, let alone text messaging a necessity? I can understand a landline, basic which means no call waiting, caller id, 3 way, etc. But, a cell phone is a luxury just like cable, designer clothing, alcohol, and lobster.
Go spend an hour at the grocery store and observe people in the check out lines that are using their EBT cards and look at what they are buying. Do you think it is right that your taxes go to pay for lobster, crablegs, filets, and other luxury food items that the majority of people who are paying taxes can hardly afford in these uncertain times.
Obama has claimed to have created so many jobs but fails to take into consideration the millions of jobs that have been lost because of him.
Obama has created Obamacare for the indigents who go to the ER for a cold. Have you looked at how much your insurance premiums have rose since he took office? I know mine personally have gone up about 50% per year.
Take some of those things into consideration and tell me why it is fair that someone should be able to sit at home in the government housing that is nicer than a good majority of taxpayers (look at the new housing off of Harden St. past Benedict) while you(?) and I and many others work hard everyday to try to provide for our own families.
