SEISMIC REVELATION ABOUT BENGHAZI TERRORIST ATTACK GOES LARGELY UNREPORTED
Three decades ago, a scandal like this would have been the end of an administration.
Think about it: Four Americans (including a U.S. Ambassador) were murdered by terrorists in Benghazi, Libya as an American President watched in a secure room halfway around the world – refusing to provide help.
Here are the seismic lead excerpts from the bombshell story published last Friday by Fox News’ correspondent Jennifer Griffin …
(A)n urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied by the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.
Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”
Where could such orders to “stand down” have originated? Only from the White House situation room, where U.S. President Barack Obama is alleged to have been watching the disaster unfold.
“According to my sources, yes, [Obama] was one of those in the White House Situation Room in real-time watching this,” retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer said last week.

Of course every bit as galling as the “stand down” orders allegedly transmitted to our operatives and soliders in Libya are the “stand down” orders that reporters across the country are apparently receiving from their news editors this week.
Sure, we understand there’s a rare late October hurricane bearing down on the Middle Atlantic region of the country … but when we scoured the front page of Google News on Monday morning there was not a single link mentioning the Benghazi scandal.

Even if the team had been ready in time, confusion about what was happening on the ground in Benghazi — and State Department concerns about violating Libyan sovereignty — made a military rescue mission impractical, officials say.

What a crock of shit. Unless the CIA has a time machine, what would it matter to fly a CIA team at least an hour away to an attack site that is already finished?
The only real questionable thing is not sending in the group that was near the embassy, but without details, there’s no telling how effective the group they had on the ground would have been. Without backup, they may have not been able to overtake the attackers.

What I know is that 300 US Marines died, perhaps due largely to negligence, and the US administration did nothing, and paid no political cost for it. And cut and run. The US electorate had 1 year to make up their minds and decide what effect this should have on the ’84 election. It had none.
We go and on about what price politicians would pay for bungling and the answer is largely nothing.
Watergate occurred in June of ’72. Nixon has a ‘secret plan’ to solve Vietnam, that does not much but get a lot of people, including civilians killed. Five months later Nixon wins a land slide reelect.

The reality is this: Reagan had no business putting those Marines in Beirut. We had and have no strategic interests in Lebanon. Obama had no business putting any American citizen -whether Navy SEAL or State Department/CIA employee in Libya. We have no strategic interests in Libya. Put your people in those godforsaken, piece of shit countries . . . and you watch your people die. We keep repeating the foreign policy misadventures because the general public (as opposed to partisan hacks of the party out of the White House) doesn’t give a shit.
Sorry, but this is simply not an issue the majority of voters are that concerned about. Most Americans want us out of that region anyway.

My Dad served 30 years. Went in with no high school diploma and retired as CWO3.

But when there was, in fact, a drone over the CIA annex and there were intelligence officials fighting inside the annex, I guess the big question is, with those two combined assets, why there wasn’t a clear intelligence picture that would have given you what you needed to make some moves, for instance, flying, you know, F-16s over the area to disperse fighters or — or dropping more special forces in.
SEC. PANETTA: You know, let me — let me speak to that, because I’m sure there’s going to be — there’s a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here.
We — we quickly responded, as General Dempsey said, in terms of deploying forces to the region. We had FAST platoons in the region. We had ships that we had deployed off of Libya. And we were prepared to respond to any contingency and certainly had forces in place to do that.
But — but the basic principle here — basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place. Ambassador Stevens fucked up. He had no business whatever going around Libya without PREARRANGING security including an immediate response team and a large personal security detail.
Stevens had the power, the accountability on the ground, and the ability to REFUSE to go into dangerous areas which, even if he didn’t mind the risk, endangered the people he COMMANDED.
A team should have been on the ground at all times with armored fighting vehicles and air cover on immediate call, not waiting somewhere else.
Remember Mogadishu? Hubris is lousy protection against RPGs. Deploy to fight or stay home.
Stevens got himself killed because he trusted Muslims. Some DID fight for him, but when you play in an enemy sandbox it’s YOUR duty to bring enough force.
