LIBER-TEA HAS SOME FANS

Our founding editor’s little political group – Liber-TEA – has been having a big impact on the South Carolina scene over the last few weeks.  In fact we’ve gotten so big that our friends over at The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper have decided to write a hit piece on us.

That figures …

Like we said, if you are holding this state’s big government status quo accountable … expect that status quo to come after you.  And expect the state’s bought-and-paid-for mainstream media to lead the charge.

Anyway …

While that response doesn’t surprise us in the least … we were a tad surprised to discover that the buzz surrounding our little project has spread all the way to Freeport, New York.  That’s where Libertarian rapper Smiley Chris and his friends put together a little video to commemorate our efforts.

The clip starts simply enough – replaying our organization’s recent ad about fiscally liberal S.C. Sen. Larry Martin and copying and pasting from our initial post soliciting donations for Liber-TEA.

But ’round about the 55-second mark it quickly gets, well, “interesting.”

Take a look …

(Click to play)

Wow … just … wow.

As our regular readers know, this website is rarely at a loss for words.  But we honestly don’t even know where to begin with this.

Guess we’ll just say … “thanks?”

So a guy who passed 5 statewide bills in 16 years in the House is your guy? And you think it is acceptable for the Trial Lawyers Association to control the Senate Judiciary Committee (which is what will happen if Larry Martin is defeated)? Will, we all know you want to be the next Rod Shealy, but have you picked the right battle?

I thought Rod Jr. was the next Rod Shealy?

Gina Smith did write an unvarnished hit piece. Full of legislative threats. That does somewhat surprise me.

That Larry Martin is running scared really surprises me.

I thought Libertarians were champions of transparency. Oh, Liber-Tea, where art thou transparency? who are your sources of currency?

Libertarians are champions of transparency when it is about someone else!

lol, you two are funny.

Libertarians are champions of privacy. They only want transparency from gov’t. Big difference obviously.

The debate being where the line between “private” and “gov’t” though is sadly the difficult issue today.

Who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee if Senator Larry Martin is defeated?

Senator Luke Rankin? Senator Jake Knotts?

In this particular instance, the State Chamber of Commerce and Governor Haley are using sound judgement.

There’s a certain amount of humor to the notion that Knotts could chair the Judiciary committee.

I say let it happen.

You guys have money to burn in the upstate and midlands, and act like little prison bitches. Meanwhile zero awareness in the Low County, the place where all the rest of the tax money is going.
