REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WOULD BEST REPRESENT AIKEN, LEXINGTON TAXPAYERS

Later this week, S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley will be traveling to Pickens County, S.C. to endorse longtime fiscal liberal Larry Martin – which is curious when you consider that she vowed during her gubernatorial campaign to fight for a “more conservative” Senate.

Oh well … Haley has been a profound disappointment on fiscal issues, so her endorsement of Martin is sad, but not surprising.

Haley got it right, though, when she decided to endorse Deedee Vaughters – a fiscal conservative who is running against S.C. Sen.  Nikki Setzler (D-Lexington) for State Senate District 26 (which includes parts of Lexington and Aiken Counties).

A small business owner and vice chairwoman of the S.C. Policy Council board of directors, Vaughters would represent a dramatic improvement over Setzler – who was been voting in favor of massive spending increases and against the best interests of taxpayers in the State Senate since 1977 (most recently here).

“I believe that we have representatives in our state who have lost sight of the fact that they have been elected to represent us and not their own interests,” Vaughters says.  “The state budget grew by more than a billion dollars last year and yet the SC legislature claims that it’s ‘pork free.’  We have more than $13 billion in unfunded liabilities within the state pension plan and no plan for how to correct the problem.”

That’s true …

Vaughters has also drawn attention to our state’s unemployment insurance tax – which has been taking a bite out of the bottom line of both South Carolina businesses and taxpayers.

“South Carolina business owners experienced a huge increase in unemployment tax last year because our state legislature failed to repay a billion dollar loan owed to the federal government,” she says.

In contrast to the fiscally reckless policies supported by Setzler, Vaughters has vowed to “be a strong conservative voice in the fight to restore conservative principles to our state government.”

Obviously we’ve heard that song and dance before – from Nikki Haley (who completely abandoned her “conservative principles” after taking office).

So why should we trust Vaughters?

We’re not necessarily saying we do … but the fact remains she has run a very substantive campaign and committed herself to several specific spending reforms (including a “taxpayer rebate fund”) that Setzler has actively opposed.  She’s also received the support of S.C. Sen. Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) – the leading fiscal conservative in the S.C. General Assembly and a guy whose endorsement actually counts for something.

So while there’s a chance Vaughters could sell out like Haley … there’s also a chance she will align herself with the small (but growing) nucleus of fiscal conservatives in the State Senate.

With Setzler, there’s no debate as to what taxpayers will get … more of the same fiscal liberalism that has held our state back for far too long.

Accordingly, we encourage Aiken and Lexington County voters to cast their votes for Vaughters.

DD is a smart growth POS who is a lap dog for the worthless policy council. She and her mother-in-law(canidate for House 81) are bat shit crazy. Have known them both for many years and the only jump when told so by the SCPC

You wouldn’t happen to be Setzler’s 20 year mistress would you? You know the one that works off 277?

Or maybe you are his son in law. You know, the one who went from dog catcher to county administrator because of dear old daddy in law.

ford chevy,
you wouldn’t happen to work for Madam Shealy or Haley would you.

You are all suffering from Alzheimer’s. Setzler fought hard for South Carolina and brought in Amazon and jobs. Nephron and others followed.

Dee Dee is a Haley stooge. A puppet.

Old lex, nope not a stooge of either. Just can’t stand politicians who preach one thing (I’m a family man) then go and do something eles (get their poke on with women). Happened with Sanford and Haley and I’m tired of it.

Also the nepotism thing pisses me off. Dog catcher to county administrator with no interview…that isn’t a partisan issue.

The “fighting hard for jobs” bit is the only horse he has. That dries up pretty quick when business owners realize they are at a disadvantage because they don’t get the same deal.

toyota kawasaki – vote for mickey, huh? He would be a step up from most in the Senate now.

Weak, liberal men are pro-woman IF they can control the woman.

Deedee Vaughters is a STRONG freind of the taxpayer. She will run roughshod over the Woman haters of the Left.

If any senate race needs a change, it’s Seat 26.

PS: The State newspaper waged a War on Women of its own…The State is pro-Setzler. He’s a 36-year incument who takes 30K a year as a part-timer…

And The State endorses that…

Big T knows nothing about politics or how humans interact with one another. He is a partisan douchebag. If Deedee happened to be a Democrat, he would not need details and would not find it hard to believe. There is an excellent chance he is not registered to vote.

I don’t think there is as much of a chance of a candidate selling out Nikki Haley as there is a chance of Nikki Haley stabbing that candidate in the back. Thats what Nikki Haley does – she gets you to support her and then turns around and stabs them in the back.

WHAT A CROCK OF SH%T

Anything, and I mean anything supported by Tricky Nicky Haley is basically self defined as: ROTTEN & CROOKED TO THE CORE!

The only wise choice here is a Democrat: Setzler.

Quit drinking the KoolAid and for once get smart.

If you are reading this website to get your information or dirt or whatever you call it…then maybe you really aren’t informed to make a wise decision on who to vote for…the article states “So why should we trust Vaughters?
We’re not necessarily saying we do …” and then encourages people to vote for her…hmmm

Not sure that this site can represent their stance very well….

Dee Dee is Dum Dum and that has not changed since she showed up from Aynor at USC in August of 1987. She did coerce her gubment funded Dr. husband to marry her about 60 lbs ago but otherwise she is dumb as a box of rocks, nasty, petty, jealous of anyone’s success but her own. She’s one of those classic the “Pie is only so large” types and if you’re doing well, she knows it is because you’re a “good old boy and a crook”. Meanwhile she works it all to her own advantage. Never mind that her policy prescriptions are bad for the state. The State has it right, she also wants to undo Home Rule, while she’s made a career of wasting everyone’s time at Aiken City Hall howling at the moon on trumped up nonsense that, if acted upon, would in most cases put money in her back pocket and let me tell you, she has some big back pockets these days. It is uncanny how she morphed into her mother-in-law, another crazy howling at the moon House candidate from Aiken. Both know only one way to get things done, their way or the highway. Mostly what they do is waste everyone’s time.

She was too stupid to know how to file correctly, despite having held office for 8 years on Aiken City Council (seems she likes gubment as long as she’s in the middle of it). She did manage to get enough signatures to become a petition candidate and she is a candidate though going down in flames. We have a lot of kooks in Aiken but we’re not sending these two to Columbia. Takes dat to da bank!

Like I said. She looks nice. Appearances can be deceiving, though.

It really doesn’t matter who it is, if a person becomes an elected “official” or a fire person, or a officer of the law, the “big head” sets in fairly quickly. Those with no public standing become commoners, rip rap, subjects, ordinary citizens. It doesn’t matter that the “officials” are on the public teat, or that we pay their wages, the “officialdom” prevails. Bunch o’ fucking assholes.

They don’t deserve bridges, roads or buildings named after them any more than we do. We pay them to do that shit. Get the fuck over it.

Trooper such and such highway, because some drunk driver took him/her out? Bullshit. What about some family’s teenage son/daughter? No highway names for them. We paid the trooper to do his job.

Uniforms and public office transform those who are barely literate and rank dumb asses into officialese speaking dumb asses.

As they say, “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

DD is dumb as dirt. I don’t care for Setzler and his green bean museum or his idiot son in law who got his job only as a patronage perk but if my choice is Setzler or DD then it’s a no brainer–Setzler. No more Haley clones. Can you imagine having DD and Shealey both in the Senate? These two would make Knotts look like Ronald Reagan.

Anyone associated with the Policy Council and that radical moron Ashley Landess is toxic and dangerous. In addition Dee Dee is stupid and a dumb Aiken redneck. Can’t fathom the thought of the two bitches Shealey and Dee Dee in the Senate either.

I don’t know her well, but I did get to speak to her for several minutes at a campaign event.

She does a good job talking about being conservative, and pro-business. However I found her comments to be hallow and without substance.

This is someone running for State wide office who does not have any real working knowledge of the functions of the Senate. I also do not beleive that she has ever actually read the S.C. Constitution.

Wow! Who peed in the leftists’ cornflakes this morning?

Obviously, a lot of responses here (and the one guy writing them seems to be running out of ideas for names) are misogynistic and downright ugly.

Are the establishment fascists so desperate to keep one of their own (Setzler) in power that they have to resort to such nastiness? Or is it required that any sensible endorsement has to be balanced by a bunch of vitriol and ad hominem attacks?

Sounds like the Setzlerists have run out of ammo–just like Setzler himself.

Setzler’s got NUTTIN’! He’s just another Jake Knottsi clone supporting corporate welfare aka corporatism aka fascism aka socialism. Taking money from working people and giving it to filthy rich corporations is hardly an American founding principle but that’s just how Setzler and Knott$ feather their bed$–with our tax dollars.

I’m looking forward to Shealy and Vaughters in the SC Senate. They’ve go more guts than the corporate puppets who dominate the statehouse.
