“FIX THE DEBT” GROUP FORMS IN PALMETTO STATE

Former Republican S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster and S.C. Rep. Leon Stavrinakis, a Democrat from Charleston, have joined forces to launch a new grassroots group aimed at drawing attention to our national debt.

The group – Fix the Debt SC – is affiliated with the national Fix the Debt organization.

Fix the Debt bills itself as “a non-partisan movement to put America on a better fiscal and economic path.”

“We come together from a variety of social, economic and political perspectives, around the common belief that America’s growing federal debt threatens our future and that we must address it,” the group’s website states. “The Campaign will mobilize key communities-including leaders from business, government, and policy-and people all across America who want to see elected officials step up to solve our nation’s fiscal challenges.”

Fix the Debt says nearly 300,000 people have signed its petition – and boasts “2,800 active supporters” in South Carolina.

Let me guess… Among their solutions to ‘fix’ the debt are tax hikes.

None of it matters. It’s at least 5 years too late(maybe more) and they have no real power.

If they were forward thinking they’d establish a group called “sound money” and make plans for effective lobbying once the SHTF so it never happens again.

All they are doing now is effectively crying over spilled milk.

I’m surprised by your response that it’s too late. Wouldn’t the better solution than a colapse still be a combination of (1) spending cuts (2) additional revenue and (3) currency devaluation? No that is not the recipie for a good time but that is the only real solution our dumbass polititians have given us.

Now it would be pretty damn interesting to see what this new group’s proposed solutions are. Somehow I doubt you will find a dozen people in SC that actual agree with (and admit openly to) the prescription above.

You don’t seem to understand, it’s impossible.

The debt will never be resolved, solved, dealt with, etc.

The time for that has passed. We have moved into uncharted waters, but surely the “end” will be a currency reset of some sort…it’s already ongoing with $40 billion of printing/month-but it’s not the final nail in the coffin-that happens when the sheeple start to feel the ongoing debasement as it speeds up(as they have to print more and more to keep up).

It’s the proverbial snow ball rolling down hill now.

We can talk about how we got there and what to do so we don’t go back…but the cake is already baked.

There is only one group that is failing to deal rationally with our national debt problem and that is the Republicans in the Congress who have signed Grover Norquist’s pledge.

I’m not sure how old you are, but I’m pushing 50. I’ve been voting in various elections for a little over 30 years. I’ver heard this kind of thing before on both sides of the isle. It aint happenin’ brother.

This is just another “Commission” “Grass Roots” BS campaign to get people to vote for them.

Further, notice they’re bitchin about the Federal debt and NOT the state budget? Clean up everyone elses house except their own. Typical political BS. Thars a Planks uh Plendy hear m’boyo

Please help me. I’m voting for Oshitforbrains2012. I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. Lets help them finish running things into the ground so we can pick up the pieces and move on. I don’t want my children or grandchildren to have to live in this mess. Lets clean it up. Bring em past the brink of pitchforks. Give em plenty of rope. Lets finish this BS and move on.

Have a Great Day!! :)

Fix the Debt is a sham — it sounds good but a hidden goal is to cut Social Security and Medicare. Most of the CEO’s companies pay no taxes. It goes on and on.
