At this point it’s becoming increasingly clear that the 2012 election is a battle between two firmly convinced (albeit ideologically unaware) segments of the American electorate – with very few undecided voters weighing the “choice” they have to make on November 6 between U.S. President Barack Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
According to the latest Washington Post/ ABC News poll, 49 percent of America is with Obama and 46 percent is with Romney. One percent said they were voting for another candidate, one percent said they were voting for neither candidate and two percent said they had no opinion.
No one is undecided, in other words – which is exactly what the purveyors of the “two-party” system were hoping for.
As we’ve noted on innumerable prior occasions, though, this is a false dichotomy. It is a thesis without an antithesis – a bastardized Hegelian dialectic in which there is never a true”synthesis,” only a leftward slide toward the ash heap of history that gains momentum with each additional trillion dollars of debt and round of money printing.
The only candidate to grasp this reality? Ron Paul.
“(Obama and Romney) represent a one party system,” Paul said last week. “Somebody said, ‘why don’t we get a third party?’ And another one said, and I think correctly so, ‘why don’t we get a second party?’ … I’ve been in this business a long time, and believe me, there is essentially no difference one administration to another, no matter what the platform.”
Exactly. America’s 21st century political system can be summed up as follows: socialists masquerading as Democrats and Democrats masquerading as Republicans, with a bought-and-paid-for fourth estate pulling the strings.
Are there any actual Republicans in this political dystopia?
Yes … they’re called “Paultards.” They’re just not welcome in the “Republican” party anymore … although they are still expected to vote the “right way.”
Paul is refusing to do that, though. As of this writing he is not endorsing Romney – and has strongly implied that he will be casting his vote for Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson.
Same here … in fact we’ll be endorsing Johnson’s presidential bid later this month (after endorsing Paul in the 2012 primary)
Paul’s reluctance to embrace Romney is surprising to some considering the lenience he showed toward the former Massachusetts governor during the 2012 primary. In fact former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum explicitly suggested that there was a “corrupt bargain” at work between Paul and Romney given the extent to which Paul bashed other Republicans – but seemed to lay off of Romney.
Apparently there was no bargain … and thank God for that.
As we’ve noted previously, Romney simply cannot be trusted – and Paul is correct not to trust him, with either his endorsement or his vote.

Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan have, at this point, displayed such hypocrisy – and, such a mishandling and misunderstanding of the truth, that I fear them both profoundly negative examples for all Americans. Democrats and Republicans need to be able to live peacefully and work together – but we can’t do that with politicians like these two trying to play both sides, working the system, and lying in hope of getting as many votes as they can. Romney refusing to disclose his tax returns was the beginning (his father disclosed 12 and said it should be required of all President-hopefuls) but Ryan’s exposed stimulus fund requests (during the debate) when he admitted to the “two” letters he wrote Vice President asking for money for Wisconsin, only after being called out on it, are tell-tale. There were actually four (and are available online for anyone to read under the Freedom of Information Act). How about the excellent moderator in the Vice President debate who, kindly, offered Ryan the chance to clear up all the confusion over the Romney “tax plan” – and his refusal to do so? Taxes are of course what politicians plan to do with our hard earned money and so are clearly serious business for any citizen. For him to not be able to elaborate at all on any specifics; to refuse to offer any details on what, exactly, their plan is…is dangerous. And I don’t think that we need to go into the fact that he actually voted, on record, *against* American women being able to be paid at the same rate as men for doing the same work. That is just not American. It never was and it never will be. We must move forward.
Agreed, Romney & associates cannot be trusted. But just mentioning this group implies the current administration can be trusted. Not a chance! Everything about the president and his wife have been sealed by court order… and I mean everything! Look at his record in the FOIA system (oh yeah, much of that is sealed as well) and tell me he’s the man for the job… Ron Paul had the guts and conviction to bring issues and fixes to the surface and should have run third party from the onset.
So, by doing this (repeatedly, I might add) Paul is tacitly throwing his support to Obama? :) How does he feel about the arms buildup near Libya today? How does he feel about using executive orders to kill US citizens? How does he feel about the executive orders and bypassing both Congress and the laws of the US? How does he feel about the destruction of the balance of power between the three branches of government? What does he feel about the budget deficit and the unprecedented growing of government and the national debt? How does he feel about the QE3 infinite printing of money and unfettered FED? Eh, the list is too long.
Yeah, Ron Paul, support all of this becauses you don’t want to oppose Obama, when you’ve spent your career opposing most of this in the past. So, you leave politics supporting all that you have opposed. It’s a shame really.

Ask yourself how Romney feels about these things. He wants to increase military spending by 4% of the GDP. He wholeheartedly supports the NDAA (killing and detaining US citizens without trial) and Patriot Act. Romney’s plan does NOTHING to address the budget deficit. Read it!! All these things you say he will address he explicitly says he won’t. He only pays lip service to auditing the FED. I guarantee you, that will not be done if he is in office.
Paul won’t endorse Romney, but he won’t endorse Johnson either. No, endorsing another candidate would draw the ire of the Republican party, and as much smack as he can talk about his party, he wouldn’t dare step out of the bounds of the GOP.

I think the basic problem is that he knows it’s impossible to win under any other party and he’s trying to get exposure to his ideas.
If you don’t think he strictly adheres to his given set of principles for the most part I think you’re off base, whether it’s defined as “Independent”(whatever that is) or Libertarian(whatever that is).
To suggest his affliation with the GOP makes him like them seems a bit of a stretch since he’s not for unending war, big gov’t, cronyism(MIC and TARP oriented for example) and a host of other issues.
I think he pisses off the GOP most simply because those ideals he holds dear…like sound money, balanced budgets and limited gov’t, are all things that the GOP is supposed to be “for” and he points out all the ways they are not.

You really think Romney is going to stave off economic collapse? What, with his “plan”? Have you even read it? He will be capping spending at 20% GDP in 4 years, assumes a 4% growth rate in 2016 that would then allow $500 billion cut – not implemented if growth is not 4%, pass a budget that is not balanced for 27 years, only a 5% cut to non-security discretionary spending the first year, a 10% reduction in the federal work force by attrition, and some small cuts. He also proposes raise defense spending to 4% of GDP. I do not see this as anything near as aggressive as I would expect someone who is pro small government to propose.

Taxes are not the problem. Spending is. If you could “starve the beast” by lowering taxes (ie: no borrowing), then taxes would matter. Increasing the deficit/ debt is bad. OTOH, repealing Bush’s tax cuts would represent a miniscule increase in government revenue. It’s the SPENDING, people….and neither Obama or Romney will do a damn thing about it.

Why does Goldman Sachs contribute money to both political parties? Why contribute to either if the results do not matter? Because the results do matter! Only the third parties threaten their ability to create money out of thin air. This is why they want to keep either establishment party in office. There is no real difference between them.
