RAPID REACTIONS FROM THE 2nd PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE BETWEEN BARACK OBAMA AND MITT ROMNEY
We weren’t thrilled to be live-blogging the first presidential debate of the 2012 election season. Not even a little bit. Why not? Because we’re not fans of U.S. President Barack Obama … nor are we fans of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Plus … live-blogging cuts into our founding editor’s Downton Abbey time (he purchases it on Blu Ray, btw, just to be consistent with his opposition to government-funded media).
Anyway, we remain the biggest, baddest (and only real) political blog in South Carolina … which makes this sort of thing (sigh) our job. Plus we’re told our live blog got a ton of hits the last time out, so in the immortal words of Rod Tidwell, “let’s do that sh*t again!”

11:17 p.m. – Four hours and seventeen minutes after we began, it’s time to sign off for the night. Thanks to everyone who dropped by and to everyone who shared their thoughts on the second presidential debate! Also thanks to @NancyMace for running the FITS Twitter account this evening and to @MrsSic for forgoing her nightly foot rub so that Sic Willie could live blog the proceedings.
See you next time!
11:15 p.m. – It’s official. “Binders full of women” is the meme from the second debate (hat tip @PluvLaw) …
11:12 p.m. – (via Twitter) Erin Akin Carroll (a.k.a. @BlueEyedBride) on the whole “binders full of women” comment: “poor guy has no clue what he said.”
11:10 p.m. – Mitt Romney’s “Binders full of women” remark has produced a Facebook fan page … and not in a good way (if you’re Romney).
11:04 p.m. – The most contentious moment during the second presidential debate focused on whether the administration of Barack Obama misled the country following the September 11 attack against America’s consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Obama claims he identified the attack as an “act of terror” the day after it happened – a claim supported by debate moderator Candy Crowley. Romney disputed that. Here’s an interesting analysis of what Obama actually said … (via Brietbart).
11:02 p.m. – (via FB) David R. Weiss says: “As a middle class worker with a middle class family, still missing what the president would do differently than the past 4 years? My family’s costs for Gas, food, and everything else are way up. I can’t afford 4 more years.”
10:59 p.m. – Just realized I never drank the coffee I brewed prior to the debate … microwave time.
1o:52 p.m. (via Twitter) Melissa Thurstin (@MRThurstin) says: “Doesn’t matter who won. The American Public lost. So depressed may have to move to Canada.”
Sic sez: You should join us and “throw your vote away” on Gary Johnson …
1o:50 p.m. – (via FB) “The Tea Party” posts this picture saying “LIKE if you think Candy Crowley is a partisan hack and only tried to help Obama tonight!”
10:44 p.m. – From New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee:
“You just heard from the two men vying to become President. Do you feel better about our country’s future than you did 2 hours ago?”
Sic sez: Hell No!
10:42 p.m. – My inital reaction to tonight’s debate? Both candidates were completely full of it – much more combative, much thicker with the nonsense rhetoric and reliant on focus group-tested babble. From a purely rhetorical and stylistic perspective, though, Barack Obama did infinitely better this time around (not hard to do given his disastrous performance in the first debate) – while Mitt Romney wasn’t quite as strong as he was last go-round. Add it all up and we’re calling it a draw.
10:40 p.m. – To the poll!
10:38 p.m. Barack Obama says “everybody should play by the same rules.”
Sic sez: Like Solyndra?
10:37 p.m. – (via Twitter) @SCGubers says: “Audience is dressed like they walked straight out of the 90s.”
Sic sez: And they sound like they’re straight out of the lobotomization room.
10:36 p.m. – Wasn’t this thing supposed to be over six minutes ago? Sheesh …
10:33 p.m. – Interesting final question: “What is the biggest misconception about you – and why is it wrong?”
10:32 p.m. – All this discussion of corporate taxes misses the point … the vast majority of American businesses file as individuals. Where is their tax relief?
10:31 p.m. – (via FB) Robin Biro says “I had no idea that single family households and gay marriage led to gun violence.”
10:30 p.m. – Barack Obama: “Both Governor Romney and I agree we should lower our corporate tax rate – it’s too high.”
Sic sez: Really? You’ve been in office four years … why haven’t you done it already?
10:29 p.m. – Mitt Romney: “On day one (as president), I will name China a currency manipulator.”
Sic sez: Oooooh. You’re such a tough guy.
10:28 p.m. – Here’s our post on both candidates gun records …
10:26 p.m. – Mitt Romney’s Second Amendment record is terrible. Barack Obama’s “Fast and Furious” scandal is a major millstone. That makes the whole gun control debate between these two pretty much a wash.
10:23 p.m. – Barack Obama: “Mitt Romney was for an assault weapons ban before he was against it.”
10:22 p.m. – Is Candy Crowley auditioning for role of press secretary in Barack Obama’s second term?
10:21 p.m. – Mitt Romney hits Barack Obama on operation “Fast and Furious,” which included AK-47s.
10:20 p.m. – The star of the last ten minutes of the debate …
10:18 p.m. (via FB) “Oh hell, let’s just give them gloves.”
10:16 p.m. – The first debate was much sharper on issues. This debate is pretty sloppy.
10:15 p.m. – Barack Obama says Mitt Romney’s allegation that he misled the public about the Libyan attacks is “offensive.”
10:13 p.m. – (via Twitter) Erin Akin Carroll (@BlueEyedBride) says: “Are you excited about these binders full of women?”
Sic sez: Only if you’re in it, babe.
10:12 p.m. – Mitt Romney hits Obama for flying to Los Angeles and Colorado for political fundraisers in the days following the Libyan attacks. Pretty nice counterpunch.
10:11 p.m. – Mitt Romney on the Libyan attack: “It was a terrorist attack … and it took a long time for that to become known to the American people.”
10:08 p.m. – Barack Obama on the perpetrators of the Libyan attack: “We are going to hunt them down.”
10:07 p.m. – Questioner Kerry Ladka has a question about Libya … wants to know “who was it that denied enhanced security” at the Libyan embassies?
10:07 p.m. – R.M.H. (@rena1054) says “Obama still didn’t answer why he didn’t do anything about immigration when he had a super majority.”
Sic sez: Good point.
10:06 p.m. – Mitt Romney: “Mister President, have you looked at your pension?” Barack Obama: “It’s not as big as yours.”
Sic sez: “That’s what she said.”
10:05 p.m. – Mitt Romney hitting Barack Obama hard on immigration: “This president should have honored his promise and done what he said.”
10:05 p.m. – Serious question: What did Jenna Jameson know about Barack Obama’s anti-gang banging policy? Hmmmmm ….
10:03 p.m. – Barack Obama says he wants to go after “gang bangers.” Porn industry cringes.
10:01 p.m. – (via FB) Duane Francis Christopher says: “Obama, ‘I was born in Kenya, even I am an immigrant.'”
Sic sez: Ha! Birther humor!
10:00 p.m. – Neither Mitt Romney nor Barack Obama can pronounce this poor girl’s name …
9:59 p.m. – Re: “getting tough on China” Bryan Haskins (@HaskinsByran) says: “Can’t bite the hand that feeds you.”
9:58 p.m. – Mitt Romney says middle class family income is down $4,300 under Barack Obama … “that’s what this election is about.”
9:56 p.m. – Justin Evans (via FB) – “Osama is dead … but so is Ambassador Stevens.”
9:56 p.m. – Mitt Romney just had his strongest moment of the debate – rattling off a litany of very depressing economic statistics. This is where Romney is at his best – savaging Obama.
9:55 p.m. – Mitt Romney says Barack Obama promised to lower unemployment to 5.4 percent – “he didn’t get there.”
9:53 p.m. – Mitt Romney: “If you’re to elect President Obama you know what you’re going to get – a repeat of the last four years.”
9:50 p.m. – Let’s be honest: Nobody’s gonna get tough on China. Why not? They own us …
9:49 p.m. – Barack Obama to Mitt Romney: “Governor, you’re the last person who’s going to get tough on China.”
9:48 p.m. – For the record, I like Bush (not that one). And landing strips. And Brazilians.
9:47 p.m. – Mitt Romney says one difference between him and President Bush is that unlike Bush “I’m going to get us to a balanced budget.”
9:46 p.m. – Mitt Romney: “President Bush and I are different people – and these are different times.”
9:45 p.m. – Great question for Mitt Romney: How are you different from George W. Bush?
9:44 p.m. – He’s talking out of his ass, but there’s no doubt Barack Obama is on his game tonight.
9:40 p.m. – Columnist Isaac Bailey of The (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) Sun News – a.k.a. @TSN_IsaacBailey – says “(Obama)’s actually lowered the deficit by more than $300 billion.”
Sic sez: That’s the South Carolina mainstream media for you …
9:40 p.m. – @JeenyusCorner says “neither one of these clowns are worthy of a light saber. The force is WEAK with these two puppets.”
9:39 p.m. – @StephanieMusick says “light sabers. They need light sabers!”
9:37 p.m. – Finally … another question. Katherine Fenton (a hottie) asks whether the candidates will insist on equal pay for women.
9:35 p.m. – Romney: “(Obama) said he would cut the deficit in half – he’s doubled it.” Says four more years of Obama would “put us on a road to Greece.”
9:34 p.m. – Barack Obama on Romney’s spending plans: “The math doesn’t add up.” Calls it a “shady deal” that a businessman like Romney would reject if presented to them. “You can’t buy this sales pitch.”
9:33 p.m. – Barack Obama says Mitt Romney’s policies would add $8 trillion to the deficit over the next decade and “we haven’t heard from the governor any specifics – other than Big Bird and eliminating funding for Planned Parenthood – as to how he’s going to pay for it.”
9:32 p.m. – S.C. Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-Bamberg) says “Romney is getting handled.”
9:31 p.m. – (via FB) S.C. Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler says “I expect to hear the theme from ROCKY just any minute.”
9:30 p.m. – (via FB) John Stienberger says: “Gov. Romney missed a chance to explain that Obamacare raises taxes on the middle class. He also needs to mention the Jan. 1 Taxmageddon, when all tax rates are scheduled to go up!”
9:28 p.m. – Barack Obama: “If we’re serious about cutting the deficit … in addition to making some tough spending cuts, the wealthy need to do a little more.”
Sic sez: When it comes to the deficit, Mr. President: “You (and George W. Bush) built that!”
9:27 p.m. – @PluvLaw: “Somehow I think a mixed race kid who grew up playing roundball may have learned to throw a lick …”
Sic sez: Good point. But Romney prolly still hits like a girl … or like Lindsey Graham.
9:25 p.m. – On taxes, Mitt Romney says the upper class will “still pay 60 percent of the tax burden. That’s not going to change.” Romney also says no middle class taxpayer (i.e. taxpayers making $250,000 or less) will ever pay taxes on interest, dividends or capital gains.
9:24 p.m. – One of the questioners at the debate just had a Rick Perry moment … she couldn’t remember that one other thing.
9:22 p.m. – Barack Obama is doing much better tonight. Mitt Romney not doing quite as well as last time, but still doing well.
9:21 p.m. – My idea for the third debate? A ring, boxing gloves and brain buckets. Both of these guys deserve to get punched. Only problem? I bet they both hit like girls.
9:18 p.m. – Mitt Romney and Barack Obama getting “heated” over energy production. They’re interrupting each other, crossing the stage and coming close to getting into each other’s faces. Hmmmm …
9:17 p.m. – Barack Obama accuses Mitt Romney of standing in front of a coal plant while governor of Massachusetts, pointing at the plant and saying “this plant kills.” Says he’s now a hypocrite to support coal now.
9:17 p.m. – Barack Obama says “we’re drilling more on public lands than the previous administration.”
9:16 p.m. – Mitt Romney on Barack Obama’s opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline … “How in the world the President said no to that pipeline I will never know.”
9:15 p.m. – Mitt Romney blasting Barack Obama on energy production – saying he cares more for 25 dead migratory birds than he does for energy.
9:15 p.m. – I sense that “finding Jeremy a job” is going to be a meme.
9:14 p.m. – (via Twitter) Daniel Brock – a.k.a. @rockandbrock – says: “This audience thought they were there for America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
9:12 p.m. – Second question asks whether government should commit to policies to lower gas prices. Barack Obama boasting about raising capacity.
Sic sez: Not so fast, Barack …
9:12 p.m. – Very early but Barack Obama is looking much faster on his feet tonight … Romney looking stiffer, more defensive than last time.
9:12 p.m. – Barack Obama says “we would have lost a million jobs” if the government hadn’t intervened in Detroit.
9:11 p.m. – Mitt Romney promises 12 million new jobs in his first term.
9:10 p.m. – Mitt Romney says if you calculate the unemployment rate taking out people who have dropped out of the workforce over the last four years it would be 10.7 percent.
9:08 p.m. – Candy Crowley asking Mitt Romney about the long-term unemployed … what’s he gonna do?
9:06 p.m. – Mitt Romney: “I want you to be able to get a job.”
9:05 p.m. – First question goes to Mitt Romney. Comes from a first time voter, 20-year-old Jeremy Epstein asks “how can I support myself after I graduate?”
9:04 p.m. – I wonder if Candy Crowley lays out similar rules before lovemaking.
9:02 p.m. – It’s on!
8:59 p.m. – Bruce Haynes (@BrucePurple) disagrees with my assessment that Barack Obama could not possibly do worse: “He could throw up on stage.”
Sic sez: Good point.
8:57 p.m. – I’m not gonna lie. Candy Crowley (@CrowleyCNN)’s hair is turning me on. “Oooooh … sexy lady!” Oppan Crowley Style.
8:55 p.m. – Only 13 of the 84 undecided people attending tonights’ debate get to ask questions. The others were selected for … how well they sit still?
8:53 p.m. – Mitt Romney played “Jenga” with his family prior to the first presidential debate. If he’s smart, he’s playing the fuck out of some Jenga right now. Hell, if I were him I’d wouldn’t change anything … down to his underwear … even if it is special Mormon underwear.
8:52 p.m. – (via FB) Bryan Ramey says: “Watch debate or paper cut in the eye. I’m on the fence. Which is worse?”
8:51 p.m. – Sam Donaldson of ABC News is still alive? Apparently so … he says “Barack Obama needs to show up and fight!”
8:50 p.m. – S.C. Democratic Party executive director Amanda Alpert Loveday says our live blog makes her “LOL.” Ha! Thanks, babe.
8:48 p.m. – Of course only 8 percent of America is on Twitter …
8:45 p.m. – 10.3 million tweets were sent during the first presidential debate, making it the most tweeted political event ever. Will the second debate break that record?
8:44 p.m. – Why do we live blog? Because Nancy Mace (@nancymace) tells us to. Why do we do what Nancy Mace tells us to do? Um …
8:41 p.m. – (via FB) Edward Childress says “Chinese takeout, a drink, and a Presidential debate. Nerd heaven.”
8:40 p.m. – Barack Obama did not mention Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” remark during the first debate. Bold prediction? There is no way in hell he lets it go two debates in a row …
8:36 p.m. – Gallup poll released today: Mitt Romney 50 percent, Barack Obama 46 percent.
8:33 p.m. – Wonder if Mitt Romney will bring this up?
8:30 p.m. – Holly Bailey of Yahoo! News is looking especially buxom this evening in a tight blue dress. Bill Clinton would be all over that.
8:29 p.m. – Is it possible for Barack Obama to do worse than he did during the first debate? In a word, “No.”
8:26 p.m. – Earlier this week U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fell on her sword for Barack Obama over the attacks against Americans in Libya …
Will this come into play tonight?
8:25 p.m. – Candy Crowley is only the second woman to ever host a presidential debate. Unless of course Austin Powers busts out during the proceedings, rips off her wig and says “you’re a man, baby!”
8:22 p.m. – Since the last debate, Romney has flip-flopped (again) on the issue of abortion. Will that impact tonight’s proceedings? Will his other flip flops?
8:20 p.m. – There was a superstar – and a television ad – that emerged from the last presidential debate. Big Bird? Represent …
8:18 p.m. – The mothership …
8:10 p.m. (via FB) Dwayne Pigate: “I remember a time when everyone kept their political views to themselves. Damn I miss those days!”
Sic sez: You trying to put me outta business, dude?
8:08 p.m. – Via the WSJ: “Mr. Romney will try to build on growing strength among centrist voters that arose from his performance in the first debate, while Mr. Obama will aim to portray Mr. Romney as more conservative than his opponent has recently suggested…Aides said Mr. Romney has been focused in his debate preparations on how best to contrast his own policies with those of Mr. Obama on taxes, health care, Libya and other matters, while also connecting with voters.”
8:02 p.m. – Mitt Romney has struggled to relate to people during the course of this campaign … lots of people. During the first debate he effectively peppered his remarks with references to real people he has met on the campaign trial. Tonight he’ll actually have to interact with real people, though. Will Barack Obama’s “likeability” advantage give him an edge?
8:00 p.m. – T-Minus one hour until the start of the debate. Bet it won’t be as cool as this …
7:59 p.m. – @MrsSic tells us Snooki claims to have left the party scene for motherhood (and loves her new baby boy). “So stupid,” she says. “I don’t believe it for a second!”
Sic sez: I should be watching Raising Hope with you right now …
7:58 p.m. – Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post is also live-tweeting the debate … assuming you want to hear from someone less handsome than us.
7:55 p.m. – Real Clear Politics‘ Electoral College map currently stands at Obama 201, Romney 191 … with 146 Electoral College votes up for grabs (Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin).
7:52 p.m. – How high are the stakes for this debate? Real Clear Politics currently has the candidates separated by less than half a percent: Romney 47.4 percent, Obama 47 percent.
7:49 p.m. – In case you missed it, Mitt Romney waxed that ass in the first debate – steamrolling a shell-shocked Barack Obama. His big win has pulled him ahead of Obama in several swing states. Can he pull off another upset? Vote in our poll below …
7:47 p.m. – Expectations game …
7:43 p.m. – (The part of the live blog when I realize that I don’t have time to sneak off real quick and get my ass kicked in NHL 11 by my 12-year-old Asian friend. A sad moment).
7:41 p.m. – Will Barack Obama be more aggressive during this debate? Let’s ask former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford … errrr, never mind.
7:38 p.m. – Ms. “Anonymous Thad Viers supporter,” we heart you … and liberty!
Sic sez: “My country tis of thee, Sweet Land of Liberty … Of thee I sing!”
7:34 p.m. – As mentioned a few updates earlier, S.C. Rep. Thad Viers and his incredibly voluptuous (new) admirer have shared a picture with us for tonight’s “live blog.” It just came through … uploading it now. Not gonna wanna miss this.
7:31 p.m. – Veteran S.C. political consultant Bob McAlister (via FB) “When you watch tonight’s debate, look closely at the 82 members of the audience. We are told each is undecided–no clue how they will vote. When you look closely at them, you will be watching 82 of the dumbest people in America. The contrasts between Obama and Romney could not be more stark, yet somehow those people can’t make up their minds. Go figure.”
Sic says: The contrasts “could not be more stark?” Hmmmm …
7:27 p.m.– The hash tag suggestions are pouring in now … #didyourvotechange or #pleasegooffscript (from @ChrisFloore) and our personal favorite #dumbanddumber2 from Brandon Kircher (@pugs524). Good stuff!
7:26 p.m. – Who’s live-streaming the debate tonight? Who isn’t (via Gigaom) …

7:22 p.m. – One of our hot liberal friends just emailed a question: “Will Romney cheat again?” (she’s referring to this).
A: Ha! If it worked the first time …
7:20 p.m. – Location: Tonight’s debate is taking place at Hofstra University in New York. In other words if Barack Obama bombs again, his supporters can’t blame the elevation.
7:18 p.m. – Candy, baby … be still my beating heart …
7:17 p.m. – Format: Tonight’s debate is a town hall format covering foreign and domestic policy. Audience members will ask the questions. CNN’s Candy Crowley is moderating. Candidates will have two minutes to answer with Crowley having the discretion to facilitate discussion after the fact.
7:14 p.m. – The great “what’s the hash tag for this debate?” debate is on … I recommended #2ndDebate, but then forgot to put it on my live blog tweet so I’m clearly not committed to it.
7:09 p.m. – Former S.C. Rep. Thad Viers – who along with the help of a certain well-endowed supporter provided the high “point” of our 2012 primary night “live blog” – has promised something even more awesome for tonight’s live blog. We can’t WAIT.
P.S. – Here’s what the fuss was about last time —-> (mild NSFW warning) BAM.
7:07 p.m. – @MrsSic (my wife) has weighed in on the live blog: (via FB) “Not happy at all that you are watching that garbage either. Total waste of time! I still love you, though…”
7:05 p.m. – For those of you who missed all the fun last time, enjoy yourself.
7:00 p.m. – “Testes, testes … one, two … three?”

FITS has to have Obama Swing for the Fences…
A Home Run does Obama no good…and despite what the media is saying…I don’t even think a Grand Slam helps Obama…
You cannot erase 4 years of misery and failure in 90 minutes…
But that’s all FITS and Obama have…..
You truly have no life. Its Obama 24 hours a day for you. How sad.
You truly are..Obamas bitch.
Nice Try to Divert, CS…I’m guessing you are mimmicking your god-Obama…But it didn’t work last time…or for Joe…
I expect FITS will not get caught bent over w/ his pants down on this one…like he did last time…
FITS, and all the media, will come out Declaring an un-disputable win for your god-Obama…regardless of reality…
I predicted that w/ Biden, then I watched MS-NBC…and I was EXACTLY right (what’s new?)…
You need a miracle…or a rabbit out of the hat…But I doubt you can get it..
47% will like get knocked out the park by Romney. It ain’t that Magic Pill you are so desperate for…
im not diverting anything nor is there anything to divert..im commenting on your obsession with Obama..and how sad it is..truly pathetic..keep blaming your entire miserable life on Obama..
I Want Candy …
Candy may be dandy, but liquor is quicker.
*Warning: Insensitive Comment Ahead!*
There ain’t enough liquor in the world…..
“Moofy”: You are a sick, sick, twisted little man, Vincent Lehotsky. Plus you stink to high heaven.
Rush called Candy a “newsbabe” today. I though it was his ears that were fucked up.
Is Rod Tidwell any relation to Ricky Tidwell’s Mama?
Obamma looks good, sounds good but he’s telling his version of the truth vice the truth as it it exists.
Who the fuck are you watching? Romney is wiping the floor with Obama and making his kids watch.
Never said Obama was “winning “, just that he looks and sounds better. When Romney attacks the record, he wins every time.
Does Odumbo get the first and last word on every question?
Economy, Economy, Economy
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Economy, Economy, Economy
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Economy, Economy, Economy
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Economy, Economy, Economy
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Spank dat @$$..GO MITT…HOME RUN…make Big T proud, bro….
And Barry ain’t got no where to hide…
Holy plants… where’s the white guy who’s worried about keeping his business up and running? College student, illegal immigrant, feminist, etc…
Obama is lost in this debate and why do they have the 2 minute countdown clocks… like either of them are using them.
Romney has been on his heels since the start. Watch the meter – he’s flat lining.
We have finally gotten to International Diplomacy. While on this subject Gov. Romney show little to NO domestic diplomacy even in this debate.
Forcing your hand on the moderator only shows your behavior will do the same in all other situations up to and including how you address our President of the United States.
As a middle class working American, will his actions create alies or enemies.
Oops – a serious ass kicking now.
Score a big one for Romney on the Benghazi attack.
Colonel – can I have what you’re smokin’?
The only thing smoking on that one is the President’s ass…
colonel everyone from fox to cnn declares obama won this but keep spinning..
CNN just reported their poll – sixty five percent say Romney won. FOX’s pollster with an undecided group mirrored that result.
We in Hamas like about Romney is his Ann wife. She beautiful with good legs and ass on jetski. We see pic of them kissing good-bye in newspapers today — against Koran — but we pass around newspaper and vote her better than Hillary — nobody kisses her. So, we like Romney, can work with him if he bring American girls to Gaza. Piece process. God is great.
the real CNN poll…sorry colonel..not even close..
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/16/breaking-cnn-poll-obama-edges-romney-in-debate/?hpt=hp_t1
As soon as Romney mentioned Fast & Furious, both Obama and the moderator cut him off… bitch and bitch moderator.
That’s Issac, not Isaac, dipFits.
Bingo!!! Trickle down government… My BS bingo is complete
Again – on CNN Romney is flat lining. Looking around the web seeing the GOP bitch about Candy – you know who won this one. Gain two points Obama – loss two points Romney.
Looks like Florida is back in play.
Stephan, have you like the Obama’s already voted for him?
Obama was more composed to a small degree…Nut he has the same problem as the first time for Obama…
Obama has a record…and there is just no way he can overcome that vs a man as sharp and successful as Romney…
There just ain’t enough spin in the world to save Obama….
Looks like the 47% line fell flat.
T – seriously. There are five states here – FL, OH, VA, IA and NC. Romney just lost OH, VA and IA. And Obama just brought FL and NC back into play.
Colonel – you’re right on that – the 47% is old news nows.
iPad assembly in America? I can see it now, thousands of young women working for less than $2/hr: that’s Romney’s “level playing field?”
I like Obama’s response to what is the biggest misconception about you question and stood there and talked about Romney.
PBS is already declaring an Obama victory. Like that’s a big surprise.
The trend will still go Romney’s way…
Nothing too much different in this debate than the first…Obama pretty much repated the same lines (lies)..and his campaign came out immediately saying Romney lied…(which tells you they lost)….
Again: Obama is defind by 4 years…and Romney is EXACT in pointing that out…
The Media is doing a good fake job for Obama…but it’s all like melting snow…the spin will evaporate in a few hours..and reality will sink in…
First debate went to Romney clearly..and just as clearly this debate went to Obama..to tell yourself otherwise is delusional..what difference it will make is debatable but the winner is not.. just as the first debate was won clearly by Romney. If you cant admit that you have to admit you are unreasonable and delusional (t is the perfect example..and surprisingly the colonel..who usually is, although def far right leaning, honest..this time not so much..)
well i think to imply someone is on something to try and discredit what they say without using facts is insulting..do i care..not really. I wont change your point of view nor do i care to. I merely state what i view as the result of one debate.
Romney Sets New Personal Best for Faking Empathy
HEMPSTEAD, NY (The Borowitz Report) — Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney set a new personal record tonight by pretending to care about average Americans for nearly ninety minutes.
Mr. Romney began the second Presidential debate by simulating concern for a college student named Jeremy’s employment future and maintained a consistent level of feigned concern on a variety of subjects for the remainder of the night.
“It was an awesome display of stamina,” said Mr. Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, who watched Mr. Romney pretending to be empathic from a shelter in Virginia, where Mr. Ryan was pretending to feed a homeless orphan.
Mr. Romney’s new empathy record surpasses his previous mark, set seven days ago at a rally in Sidney, Ohio, where he pretended to give a shit about his audience for nearly an hour.
Tonight’s display of bogus sensitivity made a big impression on a post-debate focus group, as a majority of participants agreed with the statement, “Mitt Romney has the facial expressions of someone who cares about me.”
Moments after the debate, Mr. Romney pronounced himself “thoroughly drained” by the forced display of humanity.
“This empathy stuff is exhausting,” he told reporters. “On Day One, it’s going to stop.”
Throughout the evening, Mr. Romney traded barbs with President Obama, the first black person he has talked to since his speech at the N.A.A.C.P.
The pundits look like Dumb@$$#$ leaning Obama…(even the alleged right-wing FOX idiots)…
But I saw a Frank Luntz Focus Group in Las Vegas (Obama HAS TO HAVE Nevada)…and they were seething over Obama and the crap he was trying to peddle. They HATE the guy…
When asked who won…They said “Romney” overwhelmingly…
And I think that’s what you’ll see acorss the country…
Obama’s still in BIG trouble…and time is running out…
Frank Luntz…LMAO!
Turns out that those binders full of women had been prepared by a non-partisan group before Romney was elected, so they were not created for him.
Of course, Romney was completely oblivious that he was confessing that he was unacquainted with any qualified women. He appointed women to his cabinet, but mostly to departments he did not care about. None to any positions of real influence or power.
nidal – you are one horny little bastard!
that should read “nasty little bastard”
let me amend that – to “nasty bastard” – I don’t want to defame little folks like me – sorry.
I tried to keep track with the debate drinking game – what fun!
Drinks provided by:
1) Romney…………. 30 drinks
2) Obama………….. 20 drinks
I couldn’t keep up, but I think there were more that should have been listed. It will take me a week to catch up.
Romney called out “small business/entrepreneurs” 11 damn times!
RomneyMath counts it as 36.666666666666666% of my drinks!
GALLUP: R 51% O 45%
Obama’s claim about the terror remark is nothing but a sham. Here is the transcript of the speech from the Rose Garden on 9/12. It was 17 paragraphs long. Throughout he referred to it as simply an “attack” and the perps as “attackers” or “killers”. Never mentioned the word terrorist.
Somewhere near the end, he made a two-sentence general statement that “no act of terror” would go without response…,etc.
Therefore, I would say that Romney was correct and Ms. Crowley for all her bluster, was wrong and owes him a great apology.
I actually think it was correct for Obama to stay away from labeling the specific attack as terrorism until they had verification.
But he had yet another lack of leadership in not making sure his administration was all on the same page. That lack of leadership is what Romney was really pointing out, and is the main problem I have had with Obama since 2008.
