DOES SHE HAVE A POINT?
One of the South Carolina Republican Party (SCGOP)’s top staffers is questioning U.S. President Barack Obama’s Christian faith, arguing that the leader of what used to be the free world is trying “to remove God from our country.”
“I can’t help but think that our president is of some other religion than Christian,” SCGOP field director Delinda Ridings wrote recently on her Facebook page. “Personally, I believe he is atheist.”
Wait … not a Muslim? Ridings goes onto say that she feels this way about Obama because he takes “life so lightly.”
Here’s her post …
Hmmmm …
So … does Ridings make a compelling argument? Possibly … at least until you plug the GOP’s own nominee into the equation.
This website doesn’t wear the abortion issue on its sleeve, but as we’ve noted on numerous occasions we believe that the right to life is “the most fundamental of all the liberties guaranteed under our Constitution.” Without it, the other liberties really don’t matter all that much.
That’s why it disappoints us that GOP nominee Mitt Romney continues to be all over the map on this issue. We pointed this out to Ridings – along with the fact that Romney isn’t a Christian, either.
She wasn’t having it.
“He says he is (a Christian) and believes in God and wants him involved in this country,” she replied.
Yeah … Romney says a lot of stuff he thinks people want to hear. But can you trust any of it?
At the end of the day, though, we’re inclined to agree with Ridings’ basic assessment of Obama – of course we don’t particularly care one way or the other whether an elected official subscribes to a certain religion. We’ll take an atheist willing to confine government to its core functions over a Bible-thumping, crony capitalist “Republican in Name Only” any day of the week.
In fact we believe a lot of “pressing” societal issues (including the debate over gay marriage or prayer in schools) could be solved simply by taking government out of an area where it has no business in the first place.
Not surprisingly, Democrats pounced on the comment.
“Between this comment and the offending remarks made by (SCGOP chairman) Chad Connelly about how Democrats view abortions as a ‘rite of passage,’ like going to prom, it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Republican Party has gone over the edge,” said Amanda Loveday, executive director of the S.C. Democratic Party.
SCGOP executive director Matt Moore did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

It is always the same thing with these nutcases – and of course FITS going right along with them – and as if FITS has any credibility at all! (FITS – How many stories today on the imminent indictment of Governor Haley??)
Did I mention nutcases? Guess that means Big T and Joe the Dumber and Poor Little sid and Destiny’s Child (or whatever that idiot’s posting name is) will be along shortly to agree with all of this crap.
I cannot wait until the evening of November 6th – the election will be called EARLY for President Obama – and all you’ll hear on this site is heads exploding!!
All we know for sure is that the Republicans are absolutly not running a Christian. They are running a pagan, who believes there are many gods.
Mormons believe that God literally had sex with the virgin Mary in order to conceive Jesus. I guess this is what DeLinda was talking about when she mentioned “divine intervention.”
Jesus and Lucifer, brothers? Must make for some very awkward family reunions.
Smirks, was Joseph gay? Mary was married to Joseph, yet still a virgin when she got knocked up with Jesus. Some things just don’t add up.
The angel Moroni can fill you in on the details if you’re curious, unless you’re black…in which case you’re stained with sin and should be avoided.
Oops, that part’s been deleted from the inspired writings…ignore that.
Anyway, has anyone here seen “The Book of Mormon” musical yet?
Petey,
Mary was “…betrothed to be married…”, not married (Matt 1:18, Luke 1:27). Betrothal is a mutual promise or contract for a future marriage.
Jesus had brothers according to Luke (8:19) and Mark (3:31) so Joseph was not gay and Mary did not remain a virgin.
Anyway, has anyone here seen “The Book of Mormon” musical yet?
I have to admit, I’d love to go see it.
Ridings has a compelling argument, as long as you have no handle on logic at all. First, she is arguing against something that no one believes. Those of us who believe scientific evidence and argument rather than late Neolithic-early Bronze Age myths when evaluating possible origins of life do not claim that a human designed the body. Did this woman take high school biology? In fact, did she pass 4th grade?
Second, what is her evidence that Obama is taking God out of our country, other than excessive amounts of time spent in front of the TV watching Fox, where neither data or logic apply? FITS, you must have been very low on material this morning to quote this person.
God is not a Republican, nor is he a Democrat. Republican does not equal Christian. Quit trying to speak for God. You are way out of your league.
God is noat a Republican, a Democrat or a “he”.
God is obviously a woman and she’s pissed
Well stated, Educator. The First Amendment assures freedom “from” religion as well as freedom “of” religion. I think the founding fathers had divine guidance when crafting the Constitution. And 236 years later, it still needs protection from neocon & snake-chunkers.
Buffy nails it. Great job.
“The First Amendment assures freedom ‘from’ religion as well as freedom ‘of’ religion.”
How do you define “freedom ‘from’ religion”?
This woman gives new meaning to “dumb blonde.” She is the reason intelligent people are leaving the churches in droves.
HA! Make that a bleached blonde! Underneath the dye job, makeup and all manner of fakeness, is a homely retired schoolteacher. If she had any idea of what she was talking about, she wouldn’t defend Romney as a Christian. He is a Mormon. HUGE difference.
Delinda is a moron.
Let’s have another poll.
Do you think DeLinda Ridings is a true Christian?
Answer: NO
Nope.
Is that a picture of “black leaders” trying to keep Obammy at arms length?
You need one more choice for “Don’t give a shit.”
Do I think 0bama is a Christian? No, absolutely not. Do I think he is a Muslim? I think he wants to be, but like the Christians, Muzzies are really down on gays. Other than for his political sympathies to their cause, I don’t think the Muzzies would have much use for him.
I really don’t care if a candidate for office is a Christian or not. In fact, given that so many scoundrels I have known were among the biggest Bible-thumping Christians, I would probably prefer a Libertarian Atheist or Pagan over someone who has to wear their religion on their sleeve as proof of their worthiness for a given political office. I couldn’t vote for Muslim because they are too much like Christians going back 200 years or farther. If you aren’t one of them, you don’t deserve to live in their world. The Christians had their Witch burnings and the modern activities of the Muzzies speak for themselves.
Can’t you add “Who cares?” to the poll?
Anyway, if the GOP is so concerned about taking life so lightly, maybe they should look inward on the civilian casualties that they are partly responsible for in goat herder country(aka the graveyard of empires), ancient Babylonia, & a variety of export sanctions around the world that are responsbile for the withholding of food and medication to various brown people(and their children) around the world that happen to live under shitty gov’ts or simply have gov’ts that don’t bend their knee to ours.
Don’t get me wrong, The Black Jesus has done a good job at killing civilians via drone strikes and expanding our death dealing into Pakistan(and the Dems had a role in congress rubber stamping everything)…but it’s important if we are going to play god and “judge” to have a little perspective, no?
What a sad pole. So many fools think that Obama is not a Christian, while they think that their Mormon candidate is a Christian.
The religious ignorance of South Carolina knows no bounds. Intolerance, racism, and hypocrisy rule their world; as small as it has become!!
A lot of conservatives don’t think the Mormons are Christians either, Bill. Congratulations on screaming about intolerance while insulting various people with your knee-jerk buzzwords showing your own hatred. I guess repeating your spiel over and over is easier than thinking, isn’t it?
“What a sad pole.”
I think the word you are looking for is “poll,” Bill, unless you were talking about what is in your pants.
Her comments are too embarrasing to respond to. What’s even scarier? I believe she is or was a teacher.
What is undisputed is that Mitt Romney wakes up every single morning and says to himself: Jesus is not god, cannot forgive sins and will never rise again. Evidently Ms. Ridings is ok with that.
You obviously don’t know what the term “undisputed” means, let alone the core beliefs of Mormonism. If you even took the time to do a cursory research of the religion, you’d know that their real name for the church is “The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints” and that their defining and core believe is that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, the savior and redeemer of the world and that man can only be saved by and through Him. They may believe a lot of weird stuff, but wherever you came up with that is simply beyond reasonable.
If ignorance and stupidity is bliss..Delinda is about the most blissful human on the planet.
Obama’s only a Christian when the right is bringing up Jeremiah Wright. All other times he’s a Muslim atheist. He believes in Allah, but doesn’t, but does. Or something. Also, Kenya.
Well the “look how complicated the human body is, no human could think of it” sure is a compelling argument. Does she now understand how evolution works? (of course she doesn’t)
Humanity is already capable of cloning, gene isolation, and genetic modification. We’ve mapped out the human genome. We’ve discovered that we share 99% of our genes with chimpanzees. Laser surgery can improve eyesight better than what we’re born with. We have to remove non-vital organs and such all the time (tonsils, appendix, gall bladder, single kidney). We have to transplant vital organs and such, too (liver, heart, kidney, bone marrow, blood), and are capable of avoiding/fighting rejection to some degree. We even have created an artificial heart. We have discovered what parts of the brain can be stimulated in order to trigger various emotions. We have found cures to several diseases that wiped out thousands upon thousands in the past. We can create embryos and implant them in surrogate mothers. We can detect when a fetus is not viable and take action before it puts the mother’s life at risk. We have robots that can perform complex surgeries through a simple hole poked through your abdomen.
We managed to think all of that up and figure all of that out.
“We managed to think all of that up and figure all of that out.”
Working from the already established human body, Smirks, wherever you wish to believe that came from. It’s a form of reverse engineering.
And, of course, every one of your examples is not, in any way, perfected, nor is our knowledge of how the body works anywhere close to complete.
Nonetheless, I’m not sure you really have a point as it relates to the odd assertion by Ms. Ridings. While her statement is silly, it is still accurate from a logical viewpoint.
Since the human body existed long before human intelligence developed to the point where it could do all of the things you discuss, it is nearly impossible to suggest that any human could have thought up the complexities necessary to create the human body. He could look at the existing structure and figure out how things work, but he could not invent something that already existed.
Furthermore, there still isn’t a single human on earth, nor has there ever been, who is an expert on everything the body does. You could probably put a team together who could explain most, but there are still lots of things about the human body we don’t understand.
Delinda is just sitting in wait to marry Curtis Loftis.
Wd
She’s gonna be occupying that seat for a while…
Who is this “God” anyway? Religion is for superstitious idiots, and frankly, doesn’t need to be anywhere near government.
Governmemt…goddamn tablet!
Religion is fine, you can believe whatever you want, just don’t try to force it on anyone.
Besides that, Christianity has so many damn denominations and interpretations of the Bible that it is hard to say what is really “Christian” anyways, not to mention that pretty much every Christian ever picks and chooses what parts of the Bible still matter and what doesn’t. And, from my time in church, Christians love to say how believers of other denominations aren’t “true Christians” anyways, so I’m sure that every single denomination is considered to be false Christianity by some other denomination.
I’m glad DeLinda thinks she’s some authority of deciding who is Christian and who isn’t. Whatever happened to a man’s standing with God being between him and God? Might as well throw out the Book of Life, DeLinda’s got it 100% memorized apparently.
…maybe we should not even be having this conversation. Perhaps some bright star at the Columbia Bureau could punch in Obama’s Social Security number. Last I heard, false use of a Social Security account number is a violation of Title 42, United States Code, Section 408, and falsely claiming to be a citizen of the United States, is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 911. The maximum penalty he could receive, depending on his prior criminal history, is five years imprisonment.
How in the modern world did this get by the Bureau?…and how did he rate a security clearance?
Looking at the debate replays, I would say he was doped up to the point that he barely could function, too.
ahhh the rebirth of the birthers..roflmao. I guess when your mom told you to stop playing with your feces you got bored?
I suppose you can defend the facsimile of his released birth certificate?
I am not convinced the WH document dump is authentic.
Sheriff Arpaio has balls.
Now, I can accept that he is Too Black To Fail. That is another issue.
Oh, and BTW, Lean Forward….and change the channel.
“Sheriff Arpaio has balls.”
So did Custer, ’til his were loped off!
Could we call him a CINO ? Christian in name only.
Why can Obama DEMAND we resist honesty about Islam, yet this woman cannot Express her opinion w/o the Religious BIGOTS attacking her…???
My question: Why are BIGOTS like FITS so SCARED of any mention of Obama’s Claim he is a Christian…
Did Stephy catch a Freudian slip???
Also: Didn’t Obama say: the Muslim call to prayer is the Sweetest sound on Earht…
Yet Christians, according to Obama, are Bitter Clingers…
“It is not religious bigotry to question whether somebody is a Christian.” DeLinda Ridings
Your best chance is to be as good as you can and hope for the best. fn: people whose 3 kids have 3 different fathers should maybe ease up on talking about religion and morality.
DeLinda,
Why are you worrying your simple little mind over this rehashed to death issue? You are a proven Obama Hater; you don’t need to regurgitate to prove to yourself and to the Big Ole Red State, that you are going to vote a straight “R” ticket.
I am a Democrat and deal with folks like you eveyday Sweetiepie!
MM Neely
Already voted In Horry County
OH yes, God Bless You too.
Mormons believe that the Garden of Eden was in Missouri. Hardly Biblical.
Was it in Branson?
“Adam-ondi-Ahman” now known as Cravenville, MO.
When the Mormons were kicked out of Missouri, the local residents renamed the place. The LDS Church still owns the site.
Of course we know Obama is not a Atheist nor Christian because he’s a secret Muslim born in Kenya …please folks get your conspiracies straight here.
Obama is a mixed up mutt with a sickness between his ears. He’s a sociopath in sheep’s clothing.
DeLinda dear,
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Obama has professed his beliefs and has not wavered.
Mitt is not a christian, does not believe what Christian believes so if that’s what you are basing your choice on, welcome to the Christian side. Their side isn’t even holding firm on Pro-life. They are etch-a-sketch, no specifics on anything!
If Fits had looked further on your fb page would see your BFF’s are the wholesome and moral adulterers Payne and Eckstrom who you speak of in glowing terms, of course they profess their Christianity with piety! I can see you only take some of the commandments seriously or do they only apply to politicians! Oh wait a minute they both ran for/from something!
Seriously Judge not, that ye be not judged.
I will take Obama action’s every time.
I assigned one of my classes a ‘short story’ written in as few words as possible. The story had to contain all of the following components:
(1)Religion
(2)Sexuality
(3)Mystery
There was only one “A” paper in the entire class, it read as follows:
Good God. I’m pregnant. I wonder who did it?
Ha! I gotta believe that was a canned joke…but good none the less.
An “oldie” but still a “goodie”.
Now yall know only Obama can Bash a person’s faith….
PS: remember that poll that showed even a substatial number of democrats thought Obama was either A-Religious or a Muslim…
I LMAO at the scrambling they were doing trying to PROVE it…
Bottom line: It’s not what you claim…it’s what you do…
Obama can only blame himself for that….
You got that right!
and Mitt wear magic undies that will take him to planet #3 wear satan and his brudda jesus ain’t!
If this is the best you got—-you are in trouble. If the GOP is resorting to this shit, I can breath easier cause you are on the ropes. If you have so little faith in your nominee that you have to make up REALLY STUPID CRAP, then your party is done. This woman was obviously raised in SC and denied a reasonable education. What is the excuse for the 46% that voted NO? For all of you “Good Christians” out there that have “judged” our President, Grow up and read that book you’re so eager to throw at everyone. Judge not lest ye be judged. I’m thinkin’ most of you fall a little short of your own definition.
The No Religious Test Clause of the United States Constitution is found in Article VI, paragraph 3, and states that:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
“I don’t see how a person can separate their public life from their private life or from their faith.” -Paul Ryan
Oh really!
This country is at least 100 years away from ever electing atheists or agnostics in any significant number.
The point @? …is that religion or lack of religion is not and should not be an issue according to the US Constitution. Whether or not atheists and agnostics are elected in significant numbers is irrelevant.
Well if what we are discussing is utopia in the land of unicorns and fairys then by all means let us also talk about how no one group should be able to steal from another, etc.
My point is, the Constitution is as irrelevant as the issue of atheists/agnostics being elected.
“but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
That merely refers to the standards under which someone may seek elected office or be appointed to a government posistion. There is not test of that sort.
That does not mean, however, that people voting are forbidden from using someone’s religious affiliation when determining for whom they will vote. For better or worse, people are free to use whatever reasons they want to determine how they cast their vote.
What if you worship liberalism and your god is a the most-failed president in US history…???
And your holy war (Jihad) is to take down America…from within???
Sound familar???
not to anyone else but you Sarah.
Jesus! Always short on facts. That’s the GOP way, Biggie…keep the bullshit coming like that 90 billion dollar lie you and that Romney fuck keep espousing.
“Sound familar???”
Yeah, on a daily basis, T! …but keep it coming, keep it coming…
In the legal qualifications for the Presidency of the United States there is no requirement concerning religion. This is exactly as it should be. In fact if people just minded their own religious business this country would be much better off.
Agree!!
mock God at your own peril.
the original question was: do you believe Barack Obama is a Christian? that answer is no – based solely on his disrespect for the sanctity of life. he supported infanticide in the IL legislature, and expanded funding and intitiatives for the pro-abortion movement as commander-in-chief. these positions are so overtly anti-Christian, he cannot claim that mantle with a shred of credibility.
Christians nver plane-bombed the WTC and killed 3,000 Americans in one day…
Will Obama admit that???
Oklahoma City, Crusades, Salem Witch Trails, Spanish Inquisition…etc.
McVeigh was an atheist wasn’t he, like a lot of liberals??
The rest is ancient history (before America was America)…like most of the crap Liberals based their Whole being on….
So is your point real Chirstians have only existed since America “was America”?
In an interview with Time Magazine, McVeigh said he was a Catholic. So once aging T you are fact challenged.
Just liky Paul Ryan, who worships Ayn Rand and credits her for his political philosphy. Ms. Rand was an Anti-christian Russian Atheist.
McVeigh could have been raised Catholic and turned away from Christianity (as he obviously did)…Practicing Christians do not murder…
Again: A lot of the Horrible things Liberals use to DEFINE America, happened before America was really much organized as a coherent country…
Also: Obama claims the Ft. Hood Massacre by a Hideious Muslim Extremist is “Work-Place Violence” to protect Islam…just like he did in trhe Little Rock Murders…
Obama is a DISGUSTING defender of Brutal Religious killers if they are Islamic…yet he has Bashed American Christians…
Look at the facts and draw your own conclusions….
“McVeigh could have been raised Catholic and turned away from Christianity (as he obviously did)…Practicing Christians do not murder…”
Please tell us what Manifest Destiny was all about.
Something I don’t know or care about, and something to get Idiots like you “Dialoguing” to try and insert secular Stupidity…
Sin is sin. I read the Bible and I know what it is.
You can try to intellectualize in an effort to cover up your guilt and the folly of liberalism.
But when Obama follows Rev. Jeremiah Wright, celebrates Louis Farahkan and will not denounce murdering Jihadists…i KNOW what that indicates…
Well, so you don’t know? No surprise here.
My point little man: Christians have murdered. Nothing biased in this fact.
Jesus was crucified. After seeing your hatred for his teachings…there is no doubt that he was…
I’m just stating a fact, T. Sorry you chose to deflect because you know so little of the history of our country. From the hateful statements you make daily, I might know more about these “teachings” than you. Well, you might know them, but do not follow. I have science and a better moral compass than idiots such as yourself.
Two comments:
If your religious beliefs are premised on science being “wrong” you’ve got a problem.
It seems that those in this country who want the President to be the “Evangelical-in-Chief” and rely on religious principles to run this country are the same folks who are upset that Egyptians elected the Muslim Brotherhood to do essentially the same thing.
When has Romney ever said he is Christian? He is Mormon. Big difference.
So now you are FOR the wedding of Church and State…
Give a liberal liar enough rope….and you see what happens…
Hey T, did you know that Rev Wright has 4 years of military service to America (2 USMC and 2 USN) and that’s 4 more years than the entire Romney family tree.
LOL.
I LOVE THIS!!!
This comment comes from a DIVORCED woman! (A Sin). This comment comes from a woman whom commits ADULTERY (A Sin). This comment comes from a woman whom HATES men and political opponents (A Sin). This comment comes from a woman that DRINKS (A sin) My list of this bigot continues! She fashions herself as a political know how and education individual – and she is far from it. Her idea of work is to post on Facebook, travel with a candidate and to where clothes that (let’s be honest, do not form pleasantly to her figure) She is overweight, over tans, and her teeth are disgusting! Her kids are the last priority! Her “work” comes before anything else.
